Force has been great for me as a 4 of in RUG Delver. I may slim to 3, but the card does stuff other cards don't do in decks that present a clock turn 1 or 2 but also want to interact.

I am 100% underwhelmed by green 4s, and this is solid there and flexible throughout the curve.

Preordering at $20 right now. This is a $10 card if the set is opened at all.

I am going to make sure I pick up like 8 copies of this.

Cool. Put them all in your board, plus 2 Surgicals main, and you'll be ready for post Horizons Modern meta.

Modern Online Challenge, no lists yet.

    Finals: Hogaak vs Hogaak

    Semi finals:
    Hogaak vs Hogaak
    Hogaak vs Mono red phoenix

    Quarterfinals::
    Dredge vs Hogaak
    Hogaak vs Mono red phoenix
    Hogaak vs Hogaak
mono red phoenix vs UW Control

If you register less than 5 hate cards, lol.

I've been of the opinion that we ought to wait this out and see what happens, but when 5/8 of the decks are graveyard decks, two are arguably graveyard decks, and there's exactly one deck that could be considered fair . . . wow.

I've been running 4 Rav Traps but I'll be going up. This feels like Vintage when Dredge gets too strong, except there aren't any other pillars to rely on.

I'm inclined to check both for a while, but given the problems I have with this site on mobile, especially around preview season, I'm inclined to migrate.

Very curious about Arcanist. It wouldn't work in my current build, but I think it's a sweet build-around.

I'm not super convinced on the Electrodominance package, but I've got a small imagination. Let us know how it goes.

Went 0-3 at my last Monday before Horizons legality. Lost 1-2 in tight games to Abzan, got blown out 0-2 against Red Prison, and lost 0-2 to Bant Vizier combo. Prison is a tough matchup, and I view Abzan as basically even, but the Vizier combo deck should be pretty easy. Turns out 3-mana Teferi is really good at protecting combo. Rough week, bad keeps, bad play on my part. Moving on.

Here's my testbed online, and what I'll be playing in paper this coming Monday.

The Narset and Vapor Snag could be anything at this point. And I'm not sure on the cantrips. I haven't been a big fan of Opt before, but I'm trying it out here, and it's been very good for cantrips 7-10 to have a little selection, rather than Thought Scour. The thought behind Narset is that it's a bigger piece for the grindy games. Not sure if it's right. Could easily be another Tarfire, another Magmatic Sinkhole, even a Simic Charm or two. I've also thought about Abrade, and perhaps online I would even play a piece of gravehate in the main here.

Sideboard is up in the air still. I think Hurkyl's is better than Grudge given all the Welding Jars and such the artifact decks are playing these days. Dispel got way worse with the printing of Dovin's Veto, and maybe it could be something else. Disdainful Stroke is a hedge against Tron, which is rampant online right now.

Hexdrinker has been great and I like this build better than the Mandrills build. I don't worry about leveling it up unless I have nothing else to do, but given how removal-light the decks are, it doesn't have much trouble leveling into a 4/4. Being able to put a threat on board turn 1 has been huge, especially in the matchups where you need an immediate clock. And I've won a few games with it being able to swing past everything once it's leveled into a 6/6. I do miss trample a bit, and perhaps I could see playing like 3 Hexdrinkers and 2 Hooting Mandrills, but right now, I want to play with the new toys.

BW Tokens is a weirdly rough matchup, especially without Hooting Mandrills for the trample. It's like Jund except their removal is better, and Jund has never been great for us.

Good work against E&T. I have issues with that matchup, personally. Blue Moon always feels good to me, and Neoform seems like a solid matchup. I always like the Tron matchup, as I think our average hands beat theirs, but their nut draw is pretty rough.

Tarfire is definitely meta dependent. I like it lots in game 1, especially as extra reach and planeswalker removal, but it's often cut for stuff postboard. I'm considering a few maindeck Ravenous Trap if the graveyard decks are as busted and prevalent as I think they will be.

Card Kingdom had Force of Negation preordering at $25.99, and now it's up to $34.99. I was waiting for them to finish a buylist order so I can just use store credit, but it's going to cost me an extra $36 for this playset. Yikes. That said, I've been playing it as a 4-of in RUG Delver online and it's been very good.

EDIT: $39.99. Up $15 in 24 hours for a card that isn't even legal yet.

I'm brewing a similar list, going for Enlightened Tutor as the signature spell. Things to consider with that: Opposition and Back to Basics. The latter seems like it's primed to wreck the format.

I think you're also short on lands. I'm planning to run 19 to start.

I don't know anyone who's played a lot with the London mulligan that dislikes it. Many of us on mtgo were skeptical that it'd be too much a boon for the combo decks, but what I found is that I was able to go to 5 and still win games with a fair deck. It was lovely, and I've been waiting with bated breath for the change to come permanently.

I'm on the Delver discord (as Stubb; my real name isn't Mike), but I find the chatroomy-nature of Discord a little unhelpful for the sort of deep dives we do here.

Facebook would be fine, and I agree on having a few admins.

I'm most curious to see what the admins here come up with for a replacement. I know the cube community on this site is waiting to see what they come up with before deciding en masse where to continue the conversation. Reddit is an option, too, although I don't like how difficult it is to search old content there.

Very happy to see this change. MTGO was more fun with it. My cube group has been using it and it really helps avoid the games where you kill to 5 and just lose because of it.

I will say, though, the time from the Ironworks ban, through the rise of the Looting decks, to the rise of the 3 mana planeswalkers, to the addition of Horizons and lots of new cards, and now this, I'm ready for things to settle down for a bit. Let's have a boring Core Set.
