i definitely dont have a "rule" to answer with, but personally im currently playing 4 spell stutter, 2 clique, 2 mist bind, and 4 bitter blossom, and then 3-4 mutavaults which are faeries when needed

personally then id play 2 mistbind cliques. They're 4/4s and close out the late game relatively fast, plus are able to time walk some opponents, and can be protection against our own bitter blossoms killing us

those are definitely nice results so can't pick it apart too much there but i would say i dont like the ashiok, i just dont think it does enough in faeries where every card needs to have as much of an impact as possible. Id say go to a 4th spell stutter and drop ashiok to give them the most chance of being able to counter plays

i forgot about cloud of faeries, gosh i hope we can get that one in modern. Help strengthen early game SS Sprites and mistbind cliques

counter spell would help a lot and ill probably be playing a number of baleful strix as well if it shows up. Im more hopeful they use this opportunity to create new Fae outside of having to go back to Lowryn

a few other cards to think about in order to take more advantage of what green has to offer. but i want to play around with these guys to see if they contribute anything:

    coiling oracle
eternal witness for the potential cryptic lock
voidslime probably the strongest 3cmc counter
    frilled mystic / mystic snake

Thanks for the answer, thats what I assumed.

Faeries is so close to being strong. A faerie that bounced opponents creatures or if faerie miscreant just drew if you had another faerie instead of another copy of it could take us to the next level.

Would be surprised to see anything in M19 though, probably have to pray to go back to lorwyn eventually.

Is anyone still messing about with smuggler's copter? i see its not really being explored with anymore. what was the general feeling as to its strengths, weaknesses, and reason it inevitably hasn't made the cut?

3 mana is too slow for an answer card even if it does untap lands, so unfortunately I dont think so. Modern is getting faster, so many new cards we would play have to be between 1-2 mana to be considered.

I agree, we need our interactivity to be as low to the ground as possible, but for the argument of we need 1-2 cost cards, well, unwind is 0 with the heavy caveat that its only playable after we have 3 lands to cast it. I think as a one of its worth exploring because of the tempo it buys us. the ability to not only counter but apply pressure in the same turn (and at 3 lands) should be beneficial to faeries game plan as opposed to having to hold up interaction each turn until we have ~5 lands in which we are aiming to do the same interaction-tempo plays

What do you guys think about unwind? is the power level there to take a spot in faeries? Its nice to think you can counter and clique same turn, too expensive to occupy many slots, and semi restrictive with the non creature clause, but i think its probably good with one in the deck. and good in matchups where we want to not only counter things but be able to get our own clock out as well (burn, ad nauseum, storm...)

yeah i just started playing one chandra, dont have a lot of time with it yet but so far i like it, still trying to figure if it means i want to also play something like 2 coursers to manipulate the top of the deck the 2 together seem dope

and you know what, thats totally fair, at the end of the day 100% brew what you find fun! modern is pretty diverse and thats sort of the appeal to Kiki lists, its that while it may not be the best it also has game and a chance to beat everything.

Heres what im currently running for reference

jace doesn't immediately put pressure on the opponent in any deck, and our is no exception. jace doesn't have the same impact as it does in legacy, its much harder to protect him. bolts still reign supreme in modern and unless you +2 Jace (the weakest option for him out of the gate) he doesn't survive a bolt. Skewing the mana to run jace doesn't seem worth it IMHO. Jace is good when youre able to control the other players actions (what blue decks do) and being able to filter and dig for the best options at all times. we already excel at finding our toolbox, we have chord and evolution for that, why do we need more digging.

All im saying is just cause its new and cool doesn't mean it belongs in the deck. Jace has to be able to make the matches we struggle with better. I dont know what Kiki struggles with that becomes more favourable with a jace in the deck?

I dont know if we really want to be playing Jace, like, he's double blue, we already play the value game and the combo, do we need to add death by fate seal to that as well? he's a cool card, its neat he's unbanned, but i dont think he makes the deck stronger. If youre trying to get value out of Jace and BBE then i think the deck you want to be playing is a RUG list with ancestral visions and tarmogoyfs and not a Kiki list.

Just BBE might fit into the deck in some capacity, im mixed there. we dont get any value with it from chords or evolution or angels since we have to cast it from hand. But sure casting a 3/2 haste and getting a free kitchen finks or whatever seems appealing. less so if were just getting a BoP out of the deal but thats the nature of the card. BBE to me jumps out as a better SB card if control match ups and grind matchups like jund become problems.

People write how they feel about jace in the discord all the time.

K lets revise that to no one has really shared jace experiences here (not everyone is on the discord)
