There are a lot of powerful new cards that could potentially be put into 8 rack. Dreadhorde Arcanist Recast most of the spells. Dreadhorde Butcher Gets bigger on it's own and deals damage when it dies. Liliana's Triumph Extra discard bonus on turn 4. When you probably need to kill a creature anyway. Tyrant's Scorn Blue tint, good bounce or destroy effect. Ashiok, Dream Render Maybe a 1 or 2 off. Stops fetch lands. And you can exile just their graveyard. Davriel, Rogue Shadowmage spicy new rack. Jace's Triumph If you can find a way to sneak in a a jace there is a lot of value draw here. Krenko, Tin Street Kingpin Attacks and you get two goblin tokens. Then 3. This gives you a lot of blockers. Creatures to sacrifice to some other effect. Teferi, Time Raveler 3 colors is a bit much for this deck. Still a good effect. God-Eternal Kefnet Cost 4's but it fly's. Copy to most spells in the deck. Neheb, Dreadhorde Champion Probably not, if only because I'm not sure what to do with the red mana. Probably 2 red.
Anything that costs more than 4 needs to be very good. On the level of you win the game if you play it.
Anyone have any new builds with new cards you are trying out ? Anyone playing main deck graveyard removal?
Deck must do two things: discard, rack. If you put in every card that does something useful you would put in the whole magic.
I repeat what I said before. people are looking at Karn wrong. Coating, Lattice, anything that requires Karn stay in play is wrong, because it will get killed.
So are there other reasons to keep Mycosynth Lattice in sideborad or would you remove it?
My question is about the possibility of an competitive esper build.
I think the best way to answer it to use mtgtop8 search https://www.mtgtop8.com/search. Search for deck mill and format modern. Almost all decks are UB, so there must be a reason.
It is until you realize you can search for it rather easily with Sylvan Scrying or Expedition Map. It's a 4 of, anyway. You are going to run into it, or, with the new Mulligan rule, you'll mull into it.
You need to search for two things: land and trap. It's not working, you will have a deck full of searchers.
Tested Karn, the Great Creator in (pre-board) games against Burn, Affinity, UR Phoenix, and Eldrazi Tron (and my Bolas's Citadel combo deck for kicks). Karn GC was so good that I upped him to a full playset.
You need 7 mana to do that. By turn 7 you are likely already dead.
Even if it gets killed the turn after you have: milled two cards, replaced it, saved yourself 5 damage.
