if its a tournament, not a chance unless i know i won't have a shot at a prize.
casual play? all the time. how else will people learn? sometimes, with new players especially, they don't notice what would be the better choice of play.
I actually think it would be easier to create a sixth and seventh color simultaneously, and have them opposed to one another while being orthogonal to the other five (changing the color pie to the color decagon)
That way, you don't have the difficulty of having to steal and rearrange the other colors' abilities, just the difficulty of coming up with a set of opposed mechanics for, let's say, Purple/Yellow cards.
Purple cards could be the "dark" side of Magic, focusing on -1/-1 counters, Abyss-style effects, etc, and Purple multicolor cards would bring out the worst in the allied color - Blue's power-draining, Black's milling, White's law-setting, etc.
Yellow cards could be the "light" side of Magic, focusing on things like +1/+1 counters, Armistice-style effects, etc, and Yellow multicolor cards would bring out the best in the allied color - Blue's card-drawing, Black's reanimation, White's protection, etc.
You could even have Purple and Yellow cards approach the holy grail of "Night/Day" world-enchantment style effects like they were thinking of developing in Kamigawa and have matured in Planechase products. Because they'd start their lives in the game as "support" colors, they wouldn't have to stand on their own in the first few sets, which bypasses the problem things like Snow had.
That kind of thing would shake up Magic even more than Planeswalkers did. I don't know if I'd ever be brave enough to try it.
what here isn't already covered in the existing color pie?
If this was a movie or show, what I'd be hoping for, storyline wise, is that after this fairly pitched battle between the Mirrans and the Phyrexians, with them going at it and seemingly evenly matched, the Mirrans finally manage some victory that tips the war in their favour... only to have the first of the Phyrexian portals opening bringing the real invasion force through, since all we've seen so far is the early beachhead
You're just throwing money away if you're not shopping at Wal-Mart. People of every walk of life use Wal-Mart.
Kinda like how you see everyone at McDonalds.
Last year, on some random weekend, everything in Legacy jumped up like crazy. FoW went from 20-30 to 50, and Wasteland became ridiculous.
...i don't go to mcdonalds.... but your point is still valid. if you can get it at wal-mart for msrp why buy it at the brick and mortar store unless you're really trying to show support, in which case that money you'd save by buying it at wal-mart you could use to buy singles at your b&m anyway.
play for fun. i'd bring the casual deck. that said i'd still opt to play persecute, yeah it hoses and thats not very casual friendly but if you've got an opportunity to do some damage vs. not, why choose not to?
When Zendikar leaves Standard, MTG will be able to breathe again. The new Mirrodin block is going to be a rebalancing, of sorts - not necessarily with bad cards, but it's going to be more low-profile than Jace the Nerdrage Bringer.
I expect hot stuff in the block coming after this one. You should, too.
i've heard this about every single set since tempest.
also i think it says a lot about the state of things when a block thats grossly underpowered and uninteresting is being touted as unbalanced to the game, even more so when it comes down to a single card.
if the past two years are any indication sets will continue to either dwindle in power, or remain at this power level, except for 1-2 ridiculous mythics
yeah or new ones so players don't need to spend $100+ getting old staples
you don't need to do that as it is. theres alternatives to all the 'staples' out there that are cheap and almost as effective, nevermind that you don't even need to play with those 'staples' because its not a sanctioned environment.
You're right, it was "rape", but from the tone of the article it sounded consentual, I'm not saying the guy isn't an abomination I'm ashamed to share a species with, I'm saying it's the girl's fault too.
it doesn't matter. she's underage.
blame the parents and the rapist don't blame the child.
Serra. She gave up. Twice. And unlike Elspeth, her leaving actually doomed those she left behind.
i actually have to agree with this completely.
she abandoned her realm to decay and the phyrexians, dooming everyone there. she goes to ulgrotha, fools around with feroz and abandons it after he dies leaving all those that looked to her for inspiration, especially in the face of the baron, completely disenfranchised and hopeless rather than staying to protect them. then she dies at the hands of a theif who wants her ring.
real classy lady right there. got what she deserved. she puts elspeth to shame in terms of cowardice, but elspeth is pretty high up on the list too. at least she's willing to try and fight before running away like a scared little girl, serra is so up her own ass with serenity and peace that she's willing to let everything slip away into nothing without even the slightest attempt to save it.
norin isn't a wuss or a coward or anything like that, he's just careful. keeps him alive. doesn't leave anyone facing overwhelming odds because their protector and god figure decided not to fight and simply left them. can you imagine that? the being you look to as a god just decides, nope screw it i'm out. without warning. the being you depended on for protection and guidance, just disappears. doesn't try to save anyone, doesn't even tell anyone, just up and goes. thats cowardice, pure and simple.

so you want to see the invasion block again?
...seriously though i just play a deck, even when i was 8, it was still just a pile of cards.
thats pretty much how my binder works too, with a second one for anything worth $8 or more.

i don't want my taint surgically extracted thats for sure...
sounds like its something that'll have to do with discard or removing cards from the library and that it'll most likely be black
