FunkyDragon posted a message on [OTJ] Marchesa, Dealer of Death — @aishawakatsuki previewWorst Marchesa yet. The Black Rose was great at an aggressive reanimator deck and a theft strategy that could turn temporary theft into permanent theft. The Queen was a successful regicidal assassin that had claimed the monarchy and could spawn out deathtouchy assassins. This... this is worse than "Marchesa at home." This is lame (to use sleeper agent's term) cosplay Marchesa, just some lame wanna-be hanging out in a saloon.Posted in: The Rumor Mill -

You misunderfstood what I meant: the bad part was that an opponent would claim you cannot cast the spell out of suspend because you passed the final counter removal. As in you say "upkeep, draw" but before you actually draw you realize you forgot to remove the counter and cast the spell and your opponent says "too bad, new rule says casting is optional, so you did not."
I say this because I've had multiple experience with such players. -

OOOOUCH we also end up with RIP Teysa as well. famous characters are dropping like fly's in the story
Well, they probably do not know what to do with these characters anyway. Remember Jodah during last Dominaria, we do not even know whether he survived.
And Teysa can easily become an Orzhov ghost. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

you're paying $1,000 for 4 randomized boosters that could be nothing more than 4 laces as your rares. they aren't even tournament legal. its a celebration of community that the community can't even afford to enjoy. it says hey proxies are okay if these are, and once that seed is planted you have to wonder why you're buying product at all.
don't accept this as normal and absolutely do not buy it. not even the singles.

i too am a 30 year vet and your response here is pure trolling.
this isn't the game we fell in love with. this isn't magic any more. this is some amalgamation of garbage under the title of magic. for 30 years the game grew under its own IP without need of others. it had an identity. it was more than just cards with mechanics. we've seen that identity dwindle and erode over the past 2 years until we're at the greed driven point we are now. whats more is that now we cant' even voice discontent. they're baked right into boosters and many players have made discussion impossible as they respond the way you have. these are legitimate concerns for long time players/fans/collectors of this game. just because you don't agree doesn't make us wrong and doesn't mean we're insane.
with them baked in there isn't even a real way to opt out. don't buy product? yet this set is tailor made for old timers and is a love letter to those who played when the brothers war story was fresh, and ingrained into magic. buy product? now you're saying its okay to keep including these cards. we're stuck and responses like yours just move goal posts further down the field while alienating portions of the playerbase.
personally, i play magic for magic. its worlds. its story. its uniqueness. i don't play it because i want to experience another franchises uniqueness. i don't play magic purely for its mechanics. once those lines start blurring it stops being magic and isn't necessarily something i want to associate with any more. thats a real hard wake up call after 30 years of enjoying magic for being magic. not transformers.

i was super hyped for dominaria, but then that got trampled by 40k spoilers - which despite playing both for decades deflated the dominaria excitement so hard for me that i have absolutely zero interest in the 40k precons - and before those have even shipped out now we have unfinity teasers basically trampling on any hype 40k has...
so as a result i don't care any more. i just don't care. i should love this product too. i loved the other unsets, but this one is just not doing anything for me now.
whatever we'll get brothers war teasers before the unfinity spoilers are even done.

some of these have been spoiled for days now, and there has been almost no interest in them in any community i've seen.
i can't ******* stand how some of the cards are just wildly and completely different from their paper counterparts. its needless. its not the same card. you designed something completely different. name it and art it as such so less people are confused on what the **** is actually going on here.
most of them are suuuuuuuuper pushed with ridiculous mechanics or word soups, but that seems to be par for the course with alchemy. design something broken, get them to blow all their wildcards, then "fix" it.
why the **** does wilson have trample and can't be blocked? take the resources from this failed format and dedicate them to not falling asleep at the wheel with card design.
its also essentially a rotating format, that has its own internal rotation as cards can be changed on a whim after you spent resources. anything to just suck your wallet dry these days am i right?
if you like this format great good for you, but you're in the minority. i'm not sure why you like it, so please explain it to me so i might understand the appeal of this... ******* trainwreck.
1
Scoop it quick when its price dips temporarily, but **** cracking packs for it
2
okay i keep seeing this. lets talk about it.
its not that we want every rare to be $20. we don't. its not practical, and not really doable. especially since those $20+ rares will tumble in value.
what we want is value for our ******* money.
let me repeat that. we want value for our money. if we're going to be getting just 1 big reprint set per year, for a limited time, at an overly inflated price... we want to get what we ******* pay for. that doesn't have to mean every card is $20. it means that we need the average cost of the contents of a pack to equate to the cost of that pack. we don't want to be paying 16.99 for whatever and open rares we can't even give away. sure, opening that foil etched textured alt art horse ***** is great, but thats not every single pack. thats a huge gamble. they've turned packs into nothing but glorified scratch off tickets. that's the problem. we stopped getting what we're paying for except in the off chance we open something of high value. we need a more even keel.
so to reiterate, sure, reprint those 100+ dollar cards, but the padding should be cards in the 10+ dollar range because they won't stay there as supply increases - not this bulk rare can't give them away bull***** we have padding it out instead. this is not a cheap product to purchase.
additionally, like... who the **** is this product for?
its at an inflated cost, it has powerful reprints, but then its mashed full of cards only played in edh. its mashed full of ***** no one plays in any format. its mashed full of ***** played in multiple formats. so it becomes a set you really can't skip if you, you know play anything that isn't standard. its for whales yet includes edh, casual, legacy, pioneer, and modern reprints that see play. thats who this is for though ultimately, whales. whales who can just go and go and go. this in turn also drives up the price of your older things that are harder to get as now they can also leverage sales of in demand cards from this set - where most others can't. whales that can buy and buy and buy and eat the cost of a box that doesn't give them dick, and they don't have to think about it.
your average player? they're going to get burned frequently because they're able to open far less, meaning theres less way to offset the needless ******* bloat across the board.
sure there's some good rares, and some great mythics, but for every imperial seal we got a kederekt leviathan and an oona's prowler. when you're spending so much on a pack, opening these is like chugging milk left out in the sun for a week - its ******* sour.
then it also conflicts with drafting new capena AND commander legends 2 - making it even more difficult for drafts to fire too as people show up and want to different sets.
so... **** this product at this price point and where it falls in the release window too.
buy singles - because opening this ***** at the cost required for entry is not a good experience. its the same issues as the first double masters - but now with more gambling!
1
buy singles.

now i don't want to see him reprinted for 10 years, and even that won't help recover the feeling of pissing away money when this is the rare you crack.
buy singles folks. especially at the cost per pack this set is carrying.
2
the mythic isn't worth all that much to begin with, and this will kill its price.
fiery justice has been done to death and needs to be downshifted. is this card even played... anywhere? like at all?
