Dontrike posted a message on Doctor Who CMDR spoilers - The Tenth Doctor, Exterminate!, TARDIS (partial) and The Parting of the WaysOh boy....more UB. I wonder what card(s) they push this time that warps formats. I've never understood the fervor around Dr. Who, seen some episodes and it seemed...fine, nothing more than that. WotC sure is bunting hard for me this past year, so many products I get to skip over.Posted in: The Rumor Mill -

You just made cry Mirrodin/New Phyrexia
And Kaladesh
And Neo Kamigawa
And New Capenna
And old Thran Technology
And old Phyrexian Technology
And Brother's War Technology (that has same cyberpunk aesthetic of Warhammer 40k cards)
etc.
A large part of Magic is already and always been modern and scify, among traditional and fantasy stuff. Thats the whole point of having a multiverse and people exploring planes, literally everything is possibile somewhere. Seems you confused your personal preference of traditional fantasy as the only canon setting Magic could have (which, as just proved, is just doesn't hold water with facts)
We already went over this with kamigawa and the gangster plane I forget the name of. Magic is fantasy, not scifi/modern/futuristic.
The planes and tech you mention are still rooted in fantasy. The highest tech they reached before that was Kaladesh, which I thought was the limit because it was again still rooted in fantasy.
Brothers war tech does not look like 40k. I also thought it was really dumb to use 40k instead of Warhammer Fantasy or the ugly Age of Sigmar.
Magic is Fantasy. -

Kilamandaros posted a message on [CMM] Sliver Swarm precon — Commander at Home previewReprints seem miserable for how expensive this precon will be, especially the lands - only saw Sliver Hivelord as the most notable? Maybe I missed one of the other slivers which is worth a lot, I'm not too familiar with their prices.Posted in: The Rumor Mill -

CaptainMarcia posted a message on Magic 2.0?Posted in: Magic General
Anyone could make a new game including cards that resemble the Power 9 or other Reserved List cards. There's nothing inherently lucrative about doing so if they aren't attached to the actual Magic card game.Quote from WarMachinePrime »Imagine being able to reprint Power 9 or Reserve list cards into a "rebooted" Magic 2.0 that doesn't break their reprint policy/rule on original Magic.
Think that would sound appealing to WotC and Hasbro? You better believe it.
They have already taken the first step with 30th Anniversary and the reserve list. Printing them into a "new" game is the next logical step. -

Evil Never Dies posted a message on Serialized Version of The One Ring Finally Found According to Dave & Adam's Card WorldPosted in: The Rumor MillWow... Is this what Magic has become; a game/competition where players have to video record themselves opening packs just to prove to a bunch of random nobodies online that they actually opened 'card x, y, or z'? Lol. What a world.
I mean we're talking to a guy that think that anyone that contradict his conspiracy theories is a WotC employees and put on ignore list anybody that proves the fallacy of his arguments, there's not much to say. We shouldn't take so seriously someone that clearly has very severe paranoia issues. -

Flisch posted a message on [LTR] Shelob, Child of Ungoliant — @ZMainCharacter previewPosted in: The Rumor MillQuote from Ryperior74 »basically Refuses to play with UB cards
We could also simply call it "Doesn't like and want to play with UB."
Refusing sounds like it is mandatory. No need for dishonest phrasing, thank you. -

Flisch posted a message on [LTR] Shelob, Child of Ungoliant — @ZMainCharacter previewKinda like this. Too bad it's not a real card. Oh well.Posted in: The Rumor Mill
Kinda think turning the creatures into food (and getting control of them in the process) instead of creating copies would have been cooler. Maybe they wanted this to not be too bad on enemy commanders? -

Evil Never Dies posted a message on [LTR] Isildur's Fateful Strike — Playing With Power MTG previewthis card is pure garbage. 4 mana for destroying a creature is already bad enough on his own, not to mention is even uncastable most part of the game if you don't have a legend and the discard effect do nothing most of time (in the best case opponent will discard 3 cards out of 7 of his choice which is incredibly unimpressive, because it means that opponent is already full of resources and gonna get rid of, of simply the less relevant ones). Payoff is extremely low for all those restrictions.Posted in: The Rumor Mill
That removal is absurd since it removes most of the hand as well. And it’s exile instead of discard
Ahahah, sure dude, staple this in every black edh or modern deck that you have and call me again when you will have good results with it. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

at the price point they were at prior it was a nice little impulse buy. at target? throw one in the cart who cares they're not that expensive. after a price increase though? way less likely to do that.
use to buy every commander precon, now the value just isn't there for the price.
use to buy a box for every set release. now not so much because there are too many choices and not enough value for the cost. so with an increased cost, theres even less value there.

we're already kind of at a point where partner commanders dominate high level events. all it'll take are a few powerful backgrounds and you just reinforce this best of all worlds idea further. conversely if they're too weak it adds nothing to the format.
i do like how none of these leaks have made interested in this set. yeah, they're leaks not marketing so they're not designed to drive hype, but so far i'm just not keen on the themes or the setting. it'll be nice to sit this one out, just like AFR.

once again, set isn't out yet and gates are clearly a theme. calm down and wait before saying they ****ed up and ruined the concept.
you're forgetting this is also a leak. not a release by wotc. a leak. that means its information you aren't even supposed to have yet - for this very reason. chill out.

why did green need this?
whatever, its stupid with all the doubling season effects out there but otherwise is just kind of win more for green, you know, the ramp color that doesn't interact with artifacts except to blow them up.
or awakening or seedborn muse

Because when spoiler season overlaps with spoiler season and a new set release... well i end up not giving a **** about any of it
Disappointed its a crossover set, dissappointed in how absolutely bombarded with commander ***** we are, but neat elf lady i guess.

when its single target goaded stuff someone gets really pissy that they were forced to have something swing at them, someone else gets really pissy that they were forced to swing at someone, both of them get extra pissy at YOU, and then both will gang up on you.
when its disrupt decorum type effects, the same things happen but now all 3 of your opponents are mad at you for a multitude of reasons. you forced them to attack each other and potentially lose their big pieces, you forced them into whittling down each others life totals where they previously didn't have any grudges, or they lose ground in their boardstate, or maybe everyone swung at the guy who had nothing and now he's having a really *****ty experience - or worse ends up dead. i've seen it create alliances very quickly. regardless all 3 of them now view you as a major threat and it just turns into a 3v1 because its not really a fun mechanic.
no one views it as a choice by the player who had their stuff goaded, but instead view you - the person who did the goading - as the problem player. you forced hands. thats on you. you're the threat.
yeah more cards are good.. but i'm not sold on its viability as a mechanic outside of something dedicated for abuse in that style. queen marchesa akido, or kardur can use it really well, but like i've said i just haven't seen it be anything other than a grudge making mechanic in practice anywhere else.
that to me just isn't a fun worthwhile mechanic to explore.
