Taking this deck (pretty stock list except G. Teeg main board) to FNM, wish me luck.

Has anyone tried going heavier on blue for whir of invention? Some of the lantern lists with whir have been doing well. Lets us run a few more silver bullets in the 75 as well.

I had the idea for a fun deck based around Hidetsugu's second rite and triskaidekaphobia. However, I don't really know what the best shell would be. Any ideas appreciated!

For me, the tron matchup comes down to pithing needle. It turns off karn, ugin, map, sphere, star and can really slow them down. Of course surgical extraction on a tron land that they don't already have out seems good too, but that is a very rare opportunity.

I agree surgical has been so good to me. My local meta might just be too combo/tron heavy, but it has been very good. I main two.

    Hey all, FNM report:

    Match one opponent: Grixis Twin
I drew a pretty good opener game one and got the bridge lock on pretty fast.
Surgical extraction does serious work in this matchup. Game 2 was closer and k-command does
good work but after my opponent cracked a fetch and looked through his deck, he conceded.
I had both my maindeck pyxis' out since turn 3-4 and they both had milled 10-15 cards from each of us!
    Win 2-0, Record 1-0

    Match two opponent: Affinity
Game one I got unlucky since I did not draw a lantern for a LONG time even with two Ancient Stirrings.
On the other hand, my opponent did not draw a cranial plating to break through my bridge, and when I did
eventually find a lantern, my opponent conceded. Game two I lost in four turns... classic affinity. Game
3 we both started the game with an Ancient Grudge in hand, so the start was pretty slow for both of us.
I drew a second bridge and a welding jar and was able to cast Surgical Extraction on his platings. This
opponent did not concede (for whatever reason, he was locked out) so my grindclock finished this one out.
    Win 2-1, Record 2-0

    Match three opponent: Naya Aggro/Burn
I had spellskite and sun droplet in my opener, as well as a lantern. Didn't know my opponent was on Naya,
but if I had, I could not have set up a better start. Dropped my hand, stirrings to find a bridge, and got
the concession. Game two I lost in 4 turns... classic Naya. Game 3 was close, I found a droplet pretty
late (I was already at 9) but started to stabilize after clearing his board with Anger of the gods.
Sunbeam spellbomb sealed the deal, putting me out of burn range, and after I landed a bridge, the lock
was on. Once I put pithing needle on Quasali Pridemage, my opponent conceded.
    Win 2-1, Record 3-0

    Finals
    Match four opponent: Scapeshift
We each knew each others decks going into the finals, and the LGS was pretty hyped to watch these two
decks go at it. I had fans! I drew my seven, he drew his, and it was on. Game one dragged on for ages.
I thoughtseized the scapeshift in his opener, and saw a couple of Sak-elders, lands and a spellpierce.
I put needle on the elders and put down a bridge (although it I thought it didnt really matter in
this matchup) and proceeded to start digging for mill pieces and a lantern. I found both and started
milling. Unfortunately as can happen, I was not able to mill all the threats, and my opponent drew an
izzet charm, which drew him into a snapcaster, and after a bit of posturing, he snapped back the
scapeshift. He had 6 lands and a Valakut out, so he sacced the six lands and went and got 5 mountains
and a second Valakut out of his deck... I thought I was dead, but wait, thats only five mountains!
He looked back through his deck it turns out I got super lucky, I had milled just the right amount of
mountains from his deck. He conceded and afterwords as I was gathering my cards, I realized that I
had had a ghost quarter sitting there on my side and that I should have not even worried.
Game two he brought in his anti artifact package and a Thrun? and assumed the beat down plan, destroying
three (3!) bridges with ancient grudge and friends. I landed my one of wall of Tanglecord and stopped
that plan to stall, but then there was scapeshift itself.
Game three I got the lock on early, I had the lantern, the mill rocks, and a welding jar to protect the
lock. At this point however, I had a time issue on my hands. My opponent was a nice guy and was
playing reasonably quickly, but with about 20 cards left to go in my opponent's deck, extra turns were
put on, and after the 5 turns, the game ended in a draw.
    Draw 1-1 Record 3-0-1

And I won on tiebreakers since my opponent in the finals was there on 2-0-1 record!
Two modern masters packs, three origins packs, and $15 in store credit. Nice.

Alright thanks all, it sounds like I need to mull to a hand that has some early interaction, which sounds easy enough. On a different note, I didn't have too much trouble against burn with 4 droplet in the board and a Sunbeam Spellbomb in the main.

Hey all, I took this to my local modern FNM on Friday. Had trouble against infect, what is the plan there, other than having Spellskite in our opener? I found that they killed me too quickly for bridge to do the job it usually can. Any help is appreciated, -Cyyfyy

    Edit: spelling
