I'm starting to think that the creators of the game have pretty much left all this seemingly random stuff like this, to get some feedback on the game incase they decide to make it a full game.

It would certainly explain a lot of what is missing, and/or should not be in.

As I've said before, I can almost guarantee the randomness is what is keeping us all addicted. RPGs where you have to work to create an ultra-powerful character take exactly that, work. Effort. Dedication.

Not so much with this. Take a few minutes to create a character. If they don't have amazing first stats, you can either keep them and build them up anyways or create another character.

Also, become my pupil because I'm the one who got you addicted in the first place! It's only fair right?

EDIT: I am above LV10 now. If you guys are interested in creating a clan, speak up! Sending me a private message is more likely to get read than a post here though.

I'll post again asking for something resembling a consensus decision on the MTGS clan name before creating the clan.

It should be noted that this is if I can create multiple clans. My first one is dedicated to SCG. Feel free to join that one too when I create it of course. Smile

    Hey guys!

I think part of the intent with the randomness is specifically to tempt people to make more characters to keep them coming back. Sure as hell worked on me I'll say. :p

And shame on all of you that aren't my pupils! Shame I say!

    Pretty fun huh? Grin

We over at SCG have a pretty good thread going about this game if anyone wants to check it out.

Click on the link and take ten seconds to create a "brute" to challenge mine, GangRelated.

A fun and silly little game that can help kill a few minutes.

But yeah, go challenge my brute. Now. Now!

Also, don't the Onslaught fetches combined with the Alpha/Beta dual lands provide all the mana stability you could reasonable need and want?

You don't need the full version to download cards or to play in this tournament.

Once you have MWS downloaded, go to Start -->Programs --> Magic Workstation --> Autoupdate.

From there you should acquire all the Magic cards.

NOTE: Running the autoupdate will not give you Shadowmoor. You'll have to download an unofficial patch separately and install it yourself. I tend to always just use the autoupdater, so I can't really explain how to install a set yourself. I always just have someone walk me through it because I do it so infrequently.

I have a random question, if someone from the United States has the ability to play at most any time of day, would they be allowed to play in an international tournament, should it be a whole separate shindig?

Beause I'm pretty sure I could play in the evenings of most European times and would love to be able to play in two events. Again, if an international tournament is separate from the "main" one.

@LDpokercj5: please, no Tarmogoyfs....the only reason why i liked dredge was that it wasn't one of the decks that splashed goyf...you really don't need him in there!!

Tell him not to play Werebear and Krosan Beast too.

His deck isn't a "standard" Dredge deck. It's a Threshold deck that uses Dredge to get cards into its graveyard so as to turn on Threshold.

I think the Filth should be sideboarded, if at all played. I'd go with two Wonders MD. No Krosan Beasts, just stick with Goyfs and Werebears. Nimble Mongoose might also be good, but sometimes no matter how nice a 1cc untargetable 3/3 is, it just doesn't accomplish anything. Testing will show if Goose is worth playing.

And upon further thought, lose the whole idea because Odyssey rotates out, thus taking Threshold cards with it. Frown

Are you kidding? Mogg Fanatic is one of the best one-drop creatures this format has. Fanatic is an out vs. Dredge, you know this right? Plus, yes, you do want to kill turn one creatures with him, that's the point.

    Not up yet.

The official list hasn't been put up yet by Wizards, as far as I can tell. So the OP is just doing a lot of homework to find these dates/locations, which will not be a complete list by any means.

Zoo can run over Loam in a hurry if the Loam player doesn't know what he/she is doing and/or if the Zoo deck is built properly to beat Loam.

Gaea's Might pretty much nullifies Devastating Dreams' effectiveness unless immediately followed up by a large Terravore.

Wall of Roots and Tarmogoyfs don't stick around long thanks to Tribal Flames, Vindicate and possibly Gaea's Might.

    That's all just game one.

Postsideboard games Loam now has the pleasure of fighting back fast creatures and burn spells while having it's draw engine disrupted to all hell and back by whatever GY disruption the Zoo player is using. Not an easy task.

To be honest though, for as bad as I've made it sound, it's not that bad for Loam. It's definately a winnable match and won't take a miracle or anything like that.

Raphael Levy's tournament report showed how he plowed right through Loam in Dallas I believe it was. Seeing what he did will show what to watch out for for any prospective Loam player.

    What does this word mean?

And are proper capitalization and grammar that difficult?

Uh, what? Since when? Where? The reverse of sense, to make, it seems.

Sam Stein played three Tarmogoyfs in his Affinity list in Pro Tour: Valencia.

Something you may want to consider if you're splashing green for Monastery and Deed is Life From the Loam + some cycling lands.

Wouldn't have to be too many cyclers as your mana base can barely handle so many colors and cycling lands.

Loam would remove your need of Crucible and would open up the option of playing a Gifts Ungiven package.

    Gifts up:

    Loam
    Land #1
    Land #2
    Land #3

    and you're set.

Well don't let the fact that you have answers to problems go your head.

Part of what makes Teeg and Mage so threatening is that they attack also.

What makes all those so threatening is that they stop you from finding your answers.

One Needle on your Top and one Mage on Ideal/Wish or Teeg in play and you're going to have quite the hard time winning unless you drew The God Hand ya know?

but luckily not everyone plays blue
    Well they should be. Wink
