I'm pretty sure this is the only time where we haven't gotten even a single card before spoiler week.
They previewed Jeleva, Nephalia's Scourge and Teferi, Temporal Archmage back in the summer of their respective years.
Even one new Commander helps fuel speculation on the others, but we've gotten absolutely nothing here.
I tend to agree with the pessimism-
when studios know a movie sucks, they don't have any advance screenings.
This started with last year's Commander release. Last year we didn't get a preview until the week of previews. In fact, Teferi, Temporal Archmage was the last time that a Commander set had a preview before its appointed week.
This lack of spoiler information is killing me though. I remember when we got spoiled Teferi for the Commander 2013 decks over the summer! And that was an official spoiler! They seriously need to dish out spoilers more often or at least sooner. I'm not asking for card info dumps, just a card here and there to keep interest up!
Absolutely agree! They spoiled him at ComicCon, and I don't feel like it took the wind out of the sails of any of the products between ComicCon and Commander 14. In fact, I think it would be cool if they spoil a card for each set when they are announced. Imagine seeing Queen Marchesa for C2? All the thrill about a Monarch mechanic would have been fun.
I've been wanting to do a custom commander thing with our little group. I was thinking about doing some type of point-buy system, coming up with the values as a group. Something like, CMC in C = Base Power + Base Toughness, then you could reduce either one for points, or increase the CMC or make it require a color for points. Assign point values for all of the static abilities. Then if someone wanted a particular ability, we would come up with a point total for it.
I agree on experience counters being lackluster in terms of support. I expected other cards to help you generate exp and help use exp or benefit from it.
Yeah, more support would have been nice. Maybe they didn't want to step on Energy's toes?
I would hope that the four foils are all 4-color commanders. Especially since this is meant to, in part, introduce people to commander. A lot of "feels bad" headed our way if there are say, two 4-color and two 2-color commanders, and someone tries to make the 2-color commander the commander of the deck.

Its almost as if that scenario was one sentence away from being fixed...
They've already printed legends you can't use as your commander for these before anyways, I don't see why it would be a big deal now. One of my secret but foolish hopes for this product is that one of the off-color legendary creatures is a U/R 'artifacts matter' creature that people have been asking for. I'm not necessarily expecting it (and won't be disappointed if it's not in, I suppose), but I also think that the idea of off color legendaries isn't that much of a stretch, especially since these usually have 3 legendary cards on color. The new 4th foil creature just screams off color to me, I suppose.
True, but the face cards have always been possible of commanding their deck, even when there were three. If they are calling attention to these four cards as commanders, they need to be able to be the commander for that particular deck.

So, I'm getting the deck building itch, and I have decided on making a clone deck. Basically, I'll run a ton of clones and pray that my opponents have decent creatures, and maybe run a few of my own, along with some aikido-type/steal spells. I know it won't be top tier, but my group is pretty casual, so I'm okay with that. I'd like to start with a commander, and that is where I'm currently stuck. Here are what I see as my options:
Sakashima the Impostor- Really, THE clone commander, imo. Ability that fits perfectly and in the color with the most clone effects. Only real downside is that I'd have to stick with mono-U. Far worse mono-colors out there, but this is still something to consider.
Lazav, Dimir Mastermind- With Lazav, I get access to B, but lose a "clone whenever I want to ability." Plus is that I get to clone things that hit the graveyard. He just feels more like a mill deck commander to me.
Halfdane- Oldie but an okay-ie. Grants me access to 3 strong colors in Esper, which would allow me to run the other commanders above. However, his ability is a little lacking. But adding in W would give me a lot more answers for permanents.
What are your opinions, oh members of the message board? Who would you run, one of these three? Someone else that I didn't include? Thanks in advance.
I played in multiple FFAs this last weekend. I grabbed the UR deck. We had one of each deck present. As far as wins go it looked something like this:
1st - BG & UR
2nd - UG
3rd - WB
4th - WR
Everyone was surprised by how explosive the Izzet deck could be, but as was mentioned earlier, it really could have used a few wincons. I think everyone expected the Golgari deck to be as strong as it was.
I will say that all of the games were a blast, and most of the decks had a win or at least a chance of winning at sometime or another.
Oops! This version was from a website that hadn't loaded the C15 cards yet, so Niv was my commander. I have edited my post to reflect his position in my deck now.
I decided against wheel effects other than my commander because I figure he would be enough. But it is definitely something to keep in mind! Thanks for your ideas!
Here is what I'm planning on running as soon as release day gets here! I'm going for a win via damage from draw effects, with voltron as a back up. Really excited for this commander!
I think part of why so many EDH players dislike Arjun at first is because they fall in love with their hands. I love my deck. And Moil lets me see as much of that deck as possible.
This. Many in my group hate to be hit by a wheel-type effect. I love it. I feel like the more of my deck that I get to see is more of a chance to piece together a victory. To each their own.
