Hello I have a hard time beating Bogle, can someone tell me what the best sideboard cards against the deck are?

This is nothing new, it's a common trait of savvy shippers, that it's not worth the postage to ship until a minimum threshold of points is met, and the easiest way to meet said threshold is by sending multiple smallish cards to a single person. Literally every person I that I know that's on Puca does what you described.

Personally, I don't send unless it's 700 points or more for the total transaction.

Savvy shippers know it, but a lot of receivers forget, and it causes them to confuse "nobody is sending out card X" with "nobody is sending me card X".

Dingy dingy. There's been a lull just this past week, but I haven't had much trouble getting fetches/shocks that are on my Want list. However, I make sure that I also include some other random trade fodder (~50-300 pp/ea) on my list, so folks are more encouraged to make the trade. I've had some great success lately receiving combinations of fetches and Tasigurs from various traders. When multiple people want a card, I'll almost always initiate the trade with whomever is also looking for the most standard and/or bulk cards.

What I'm wondering is what would happen if Wizards finally decided to print an unlimited print run Modern masters at 99 usd all year and just rotate cards in it every year to hit changes in the modern meta. They could pretty much just reprint whatever modern card they wanted in the unlimited MM set, stores could run Modern draft whenever they wanted, and if someone wanted an entry point to eternal formats they could just run modern draft instead of the standard.

This devalues ALL of the cards they'd be printing pretty tremendously.

So, I've seen you (and many many others) make numerous comments about the expense of older formats and how if they were more affordable it would be better for everyone. While I'm not saying that if they were slightly more affordable it wouldn't be better (it would!), if it were downright cheap due to reprints then the game would have died a long time ago. Part of the excitement of magic and the reason that the game has moved so much volume over the years is to the appreciative nature of the products. It's exciting as a young kid to open a mythic rare and have a card that your friends don't. It's exciting as an older player to get to play with a deck that you've saved and worked up to get. These things drive the game forward in a way that I don't think is terribly easy to see, but one that has been absolutely essential to magic's growth and sustainability.

That isn't true. What drives magic in modern is the competitive scene, and they already have ways to make rare printings available to collectors and people that want to pimp out their decks. The excessive pricing on cards helps no one and just makes it worse for both players and wizards alike when they have to ban a card or deck. While this board has supporters for high priced cards, the vast majority of players don't agree at all with the price of modern magic and most downright refuse to play modern because of the cost of entry. And regardless of reprints there will always be expensive cards anyway, just that they will be within reason instead of being out of reach.

What part of that comment isn't true? He's absolutely correct when saying that the game would be dead if Hasbro/WoTC mass produced every single competitive card. An item's perceived value is a very real phenomenon that generates billions of dollars every day across numerous industries. I'd love it if players had more access to format staples, but certainly not if that means reprinting everything into oblivion. As mentioned above, this is what plagues Yugioh and it would drive a significant amount of people away from MTG. The game's perceived value allows players to both compete and feel as though their cards have real, tangible value.

Perceived Value - The worth that a product or service has in the mind of the consumer. The consumer's perceived value of a good or service affects the price that he or she is willing to pay for it. For the most part, consumers are unaware of the true cost of production for the products they buy.

Let's not beat around the bush though, it's clear that SCG (possibly other stores) and WotC have a collusion-esque relationship. Whether they're privy to information like what will get printed in the next set/what could get banned beforehand is up to speculation, but that they benefit from and manipulate the market to take advantage of these kinds of panic decisions shouldn't be up for debate.

I said this about a year ago and, judging by the reactions, you'd think that I had lobsters crawling out of my ears. There's way too much money tied up in the secondary market; it is less plausible that some kind of collusion doesn't exist. Hasbro is in the money making business and MTG is in the money printing business. It may not even be an intentional relationship, but I'd be astonished to find no traces of "insider trading", especially considering how niche of a market it is. If I had any vested interest in/decision-making powers at SCG, TCGplayer, etc, I'd pay some WoTC grunt a pretty penny for leaked information....

Very interesting Burn article discussing match-ups and sideboard plans for the format, post-twin ban. Scroll to the bottom for some reasons why mardu burn may be advantageous going forward.

    Missing the link

That would be helpful, wouldn't it?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe Wastes are found in the OGW fat pack lands. Personally, I don't believe either of them will be worth anything. Maybe in like 4 years or so, but there are already a ton of these things in circulation.

As far as I know the OGW land packs have a few Wastes in them. Also each full art land pack is trending around 20 bucks last I looked on Ebay, I'm willing to sit on them for a bit to see what happens.

Is that so? Well that's pretty slick. I have two sealed OGW land packs, but that's b/c I haven't needed to use them yet. And are they selling for $20 on eBay or just listed at $20? Considering OGW fat packs are readily available for MSRP, I don't know why anyone would spend $20 for just the lands. Then again, there aren't any good reasons for half of the ***** that happens on the secondary market, so I shouldn't be surprised anymore.

Shoutout to TCG seller, 'Miniature Exchange'. Last night I was able to pick up a foil Stony Silence and LP copy for $14 and some change. I was expecting a "sorry, out of stock..." message, but I received the shipping confirmation this afternoon. As I'm almost sure that was a listing error, I'm impressed that they honored the sale considering foil stony is pushing $40; the guy definitely earned my continued business after that.

The problem doesn't originate from WoTC or the secondary market itself. Rather, it's b/c of turd burglars who buy out supply that spike the prices. There's no problem with fiscal responsibility and keeping up with market trends in order to pickup playsets/singles before prices rise, but it's a real dick move when people buyout cards to sit on and not play. They're effectively taking cards out of circulation while they sit in a storage locker, driving up prices. My LGS limits the purchase of singles to 4 per customer; of course one person could buy them at different times, but it gives more players an opportunity to get their hands on needed cards. It would be nice to see market forces like SCG & TCG Player enact similar policies; maybe limit customer accounts to x amount of a single card in a x time period. However nice this would be, I don't see it becoming a reality as it would essentially be these companies telling people they don't want their money.

TL;DR: There's nothing wrong about speculating on playsets and playing the market game. However, if you buy 100 copies of something and sit on it, you're just being a selfish dick.

It would have to be spirit or fairie. I would pretty much always choose spirits though. Makes spectral and lingering all that more effective. Granted its a 6 drop that you may need to tap out your creatures for (convoke makes this SO much easier to play) for and it may be destroyed by K command, but dang talk about a finisher. That would be insane to drop this THEN drop SORIN. Can you say GG!? I know it's kind of ridiculous and may suck at times but dang that would be hilarious lol I REALLY wanna try it out. And it permanently gets out out of pyroclasm range, which could be HUGE.

Am i the only one interested? lol

Not at all. Obelisk of Urd was a ton of fun to play in my standard b/w warriors deck; I've been trying to work it into my modern builds and b/w tokens has shown the best results. It's possible to cast it on turn 3 and it can be a finisher in the late game.
