Has anyone ever considered Rancor in the main? 1 mana to give trample and extra strength? Could surely close out games and make chump blockers not an issue.

I've been running a single Mortuary Mire in my RB Roulette

I'm glad you did well but TBH a mono color etb tapped land is not what the deck wants.

What's the consensus on bringing in LOTV against snapcaster decks? Path, snap, path can be pretty brutal against us.

This is why we bring in spellbomb/Leyline of the void in. It's probably alright but I'm not entirely sure what you take out of the SB for LOTV

@benfraz: spirit guide seems a bit greedy imo. But we're all playing Hollow One so who am I to judge lol

@amicdeep: Hazoret is great against grindy match ups like Jund, control, and Eldrazi. Jund usually takes out LOTV so they almost have no way to deal with a resolved Hazoret. You essentially need an exile or forced sac effect. I personally recommend it.

Blue splash feels a bit..... not great tbh. However regarding your mana base, have you considered making the gem stone stone mines into a breeding pool and 2 copperline gorges?

But this makes me wonder; should a fatal push in the side turn into an abrupt decay/M-pulse? Would give me more artifact removal, does the same thing as push mostly, gives a way to deal with RIP, trinisphere, LOTV,enchantments Bogles play, ghostly prison, ect. Thoughts?
As primary RG Hollow One player I am very fond of my Destructive Revelry sideboard cards.

I primarily play BR hollow one (I personally think it's the better version.) Sell me on RG. What makes it better/more preferable to you? Money does not count imo.

Hey there all, went 3-1 with my updated list: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/rb-g-hollow-one/
I changed 1 blood crypt into a second stomping ground.
I'm more likely to keep 1 for grudge/EE/Tasigur's ability and not randomly discard it.

I'm interested in the differences between each approach, and what it does for your match-ups. I see 2 distinct variations here. The "All-in" Hollow One deck with Burning Inquiry as 1 (https://www.channelfireball.com/articles/a-guide-to-black-red-hollow-one-in-modern/), then a more creature-centric list with Vengevine (https://www.channelfireball.com/articles/deck-of-the-day-r-g-hollowvine-modern/).

I guess each list can be personalised, splash colours added etc. But it seems there's 2 camps. 1 is creature-based, the other is a little more comby / spell-based.

Okay so here is my view on RG vs RB.

RG can be more explosive turn 2 and on, with an inability to get past a TKS and unable to trade block 1 for 1 with reality smasher. IMO burning Inquiry helps with T1 hollow ones and black gives you access to Gurmag Angler. RG certainly goes a bit wider but requires more pieces to function properly. I've been interested in vengvine but not enough to actually buy them. I can see a world where this is Jund and it plays Gurmag Angler and tasigur maybe but I'm personally satisfied with RB Hollow One. BTE is alright but it's really only good one time and probably doesn't feel great to randomly discard.

I don't know if it's been tested, but what about a Grixis build?

Maybe beating around the bush to trigger Vengvine isn't the best way to go about it.. But rather focus on the current B/R meta build, and splash in blue for Stubborn Denial and Izzet Charm? Maybe even a card like Staticaster? I feel for the Charm and Denial though. Charm is versatile (especially against GY hate maybe?)

    Something like this maybe:

    Burning inquiry isn't an instant

I agree. Copter doesn't provide enough power or synergy in the deck to be valid. It kinda does "a little bit of everything" but not enough of 1 thing in particular.

    1. Burning Inquiry.
Burning is like, a weird dark ritual for hollow one or a pump 3 for Adept. Sometimes it doesn't workout. Goblin lore does the same thing but at the least it replaces itself. With Dredge being a strong MU against Hollow one, i don't like the idea of HAVING to cast it an enable them even more. The disruption portion has been fine.

    2. Tombstalker. I've considered it, but with only a single swamp, I'll never be able to cast him if I need resort to blood moon.

    3. Dismember. This deck can end up being hellbent quickly. I don't like the idea of having to rely on having another card to discard or play it for... what, 6 mana? Lol no thanks. Also can be situationally better. Reduce the size of a 5/6 goyf into a 0/1 then block. Thus making the trade a positive. (This has mattered often)

Squee: I'll admit, Squee is more of a "in theory this card is amazing" piece. He has been an annoying blocker against TKS and is somewhat mentally tilting for an opponent when I get it back and faithless looting or goblin lore gives me incremental card value. He could certainly be something else. He was a gurmag at one point.

Darkness: Any time I've cast Darkness, I've either won the game or made the game a draw. Attacking in and making them think i made a miscalculation or "played to my outs." Since it sees no play anywhere and most newer players don't know it exists. Ever since i lost to Bushwacker zoo, this made it's way in.

Needle: This was a response to JTMS and the uprise of Tron that he caused. Tron forces you to have some of your fastest hands or you are dead. Needle hits o-stone, karn, ect. Also my SB made me realize i have very little to interact with ad nauseum. So at the very least i can name Lightning storm and save bolts for their face or lab man if they go that route.

The Last Hope: Liliana - i bring her in against affinity, burn, merfolk, tokens fear her, humans, D&T, infect, druid combo, ect.

I tried to make my deck has versatile as possible. Big Game Hunter has never been drawn in time and lavaman was awkward when I'm also wanting to delve. Just seemed slightly counter intuitive to use a creature that relies on fuel from the yard when opponents are gonna be bringing GY hate in anyway.

Hey there! I am the redditor that plays the 1 of Grafted Wargear. The card is crazy powerful with our recurring threats and at worse makes hollow one a 7/6 haha
    Here is my current build:

I'd love any constructive criticism and any questions!!!

Yeah that was a mistake on my part. (Regarding the Street Wraith). See I sadly had my GDS deck stolen a week ago and I just recently made a list online. I KNOW I had 3 Street Wraith in the list since I had 1 extra in my binder, but I don't recall what I took out for it. It's kind of a sad dilemma.

I see Search for Azcanta as a early game card quality engine, late game card quantity engine. It does seem sweet to have Goyf in the deck to get an extra buff from the enchantment part of Azcanta. I'm slowly rebuilding sooo experimentation will also be slow. :/

I could've gone down a serum vision or a snapcaster. Sadly, only the thief knows now.

And since I'm talking about cutting delve threats, I'd like to say that I have a REAAALLY bad relationship with Thought Scour. It's like a recipe for frustration.

Hi there! I also have a strong dislike toward Thought Scour. It's been a large amount of tilt fuel or disappointment fuel for me as I've played the deck. Sooo to fix this, I did a little bit of my own changes:
    http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/09-11-17-grixis-deaths-shadow/

I personally LOVE Search for Azcanta in this deck. Helps fuel delve in a way that I'm happy with, and in the late game it helps me find answers to threats I need to clear out of the way before I can seal the deal. (It's also helped me dig for a K-command to shock for lethal.) It can be a bit slower, but it fits my playstyle for the deck. Been personally considering adding a either W or G splash for either

    A. White for Path to Exile, Geist of St.Traft, and other potential SB options.

    B. Green for Goyf, a Maelstrom Pulse, and SB cards like Abrupt Decay and Golgari Charm

Please let me know what you think about this. Smile

Yes, even in Zurgo, Port is miles better than that bad Desert card

I'm curious as to why you're using relic seeker over stoneforge mystic? A budget option I guess?
