I'm building Esper right now, but Despark seems firmly like a sideboard card to me. It doesn't hit Thing, Shadow, Goyf, Bridge, Chalice, Blood Moon, Liliana of the Veil, Liliana LH, etc. which is a pretty big issue for a mainboard removal card. I'd rather keep one or two in the board; removal wise, I'm trying a single copy of Cast Down, three Paths, and two Pushes.
Yeah, Anger or Verdict seem like game overs, I'm trying to figure out what to cut to make room for Heroic Intervention and Chart a Course; my meta has Red Prison, Amulet, and Phoenix these days.
Sorry I was posting on two different forums. I meant Bridge and other stuff. It's hilarious to wipe out an Affinity player's board of everything except an Ornithopter and lands.
I have two right now and blowing up Planeswalkers/Bridge have been hilarious to see, although the Red Prison player I've never beaten has also hopped on the Karn band wagon.
What's your manabase looking like now? I'm having a difficult time trying to figure out the optimal split between man lands, Caverns, Void, and now Blast Zone.
Yep, I also thought of her. I've been messing around with a Gruul Stompy with mainboard Moons but no LD, so I preferred putting a creature straight onto the field than in my hand.
What do people think of Vivien's Arkbow for filtering in mid/late game? Might help convert some of the useless dorks into threats in a more creature heavy version.
Right now as placeholders until I get Greaves, I'm using Walking B and God-Pharaoh's Statue as sideboard cards. I really like the Batterskull suggestion though, def gonn try that.
My LGS has a lot of big mana and an increasing # of Shadow/Bogles decks; honestly I'm just trying out Triumph because it's new, but it seems reasonable in a meta with decks that play one or two fatties at a time (Amulet, Tron, Shadow, Bogles, etc). I've been less impressed with Ass Trophy and Push because of their drawbacks, either ramping my opponent faster than Path or being far less useful mid-late game. I also replaced 2 of my Pushes with Nameless Inversion (grow Goyf, hits the majority of non-big mana creatures at my store, tag Awoken Horror with its bounce trigger on the stack and make it bounce itself back to its owner's hand) and Victim of Night (kills virtually everything important at my LGS's meta except for Gurmag Angler and Dredge), although I might go down a Triumph and back up a Push.
