The title says it all. I have a sound system going through two stories of my building with a microphone. Id like to be able to add a echo to my voice. How would I do that? Is there a special device?

  • posted a message on Draw Muhammad Day
The fact of the matter is that drawing Muhammad (PBUH), or any Prophet and/or God, is just offensive to a Muslim because, to a Muslim it is a sin. In any free country, such as the United States, free speech is a human right. Free speech entitles anyone to say whatever without censorship or limitation. This is all fine and dandy, but did it ever cross your argumentative mind that not all countries give their people these options? These are the countries and people you will be offending most. They are uneducated or falsely educated, such as in Afghanistan, they do not understand non-Islamic ways of life, and they will die for their devotion to Islam.
Coming from the US as a Muslim, and now working in Afghanistan with the US government, I can tell you that, in this country particularly, the citizens will not take something so ridiculously offensive, just because the country you come from, its known as 'free speech'. To them, free speech is alien and lucrative because it does not follow Islamic ways. This is the main reason the T-Bags fight. I could go in depth with all of this, but it will be off topic.

In short, to a Muslim living in the free world that we are all so accustomed to, 'Draw Muhammad Day' is not offensive to me. All I can do, is tell you to not participate in it, according to my religion. But as we know not all Muslims are taught the Peaceful and Rightful way of Islam. The ones who have been falsely educated are the ones who will retaliate and take offense. Simply put they have been raised to be radical and they will not change.
Some of you may have read between the lines, but for those who didn't, this issue is much bigger than just 'free speech'

  • posted a message on How to Pass the Time....
I am currently in a place far away from home and all friends and family. Plain and simple, it's my job. At my job, I am not working 100% of the time. more like I work 10% of the time. Once or twice a week. What makes matters worse, is that there isn't much to do here. I have been given a small room with access to a gym and food hall. THATS IT.

I thought if i go to the gym I could pass the time pretty easily. So for the last month I've been going routinly to the gym in the early afternoons. Now im getting to the point where it's not enough. I have a bunch of movies, around 60, on my laptop, and ive seen them all at least 2 or 3 times by now. I orderd seasons 1-5 of the office and thats keeping me entertained, but there is still so much time throughout the day that I could be doing things.

I will be here for an entire year, until next march! and I need something to make the days go faster!!! So any ideas that someone who doesn't have much contact with other people could do? something to keep my mind from idle thinking, which always leads to, "how many more days?" lol

  • posted a message on How would you invest $100,000?
Firstly, thanks for everyone's input. It has really given me a broad idea of what to expect and where to start.

As for my goals with all this, i'd say i'm willing to take risks which means take a more aggressive approach. I mean I don't understand buying stocks to keep them forever. I like the sound of channel trading. Where one would buy stocks on the rise and sell later once a target price is reached.

All the websites mentioned have been very good reads. Books would be great too if anyone knows of any.

My current situation is schools debts, but that's coming out various sources and not the 100,000.

I understand that it takes lots of research when it comes to picking stocks, but as you might not know, I am not surrounded by the most stock savy people, or really anyone who is thinking 5 years from now lol

It seems that most of you would say according to my present situation, buying property is not the right course of action. And I agree. I'm only a student and finishing school is my priority.

I have been interested in stocks form the beginning. Quite honestly I do not know who to trust. Different people have had different experiences with the stock market, so I will not know until I try for myself.

Almost everyone says precious metals are a good investment. Why is that? and someone mentioned especially precious metals used in the tech industry. What metals would that be?

And if anyone was wondering, I did earn this money with my full time job. So all suggestions are cool.

What would be the smartest way to invest $100,000?

The stock market sounds great but they're so many options and I have no clue where to start. I'm a student and don't have the time to do a ton of research. And I am not going to pay a broker.

I've heard buying a house might a good idea, since the biggest bill I will be paying every month is going to be my mortgage.

Where i stand in life is pretty similar to all of you. I am young, in school (not sure what i want to major in) and I am just starting off the rest of my life.

I've gotten great advice here before and I'm asking you all again.....how would you spend that kind of money? and no, I am not going to buy magic cards...not with all of it lol

Me and my girlfriend of 4 months are going to see each other again after a long time apart. I was off at CSU and she was at home going to high school. Shes a senior, and we met at work. She had told me she loved me after i had moved into school so its been kinda different for me, but then again shes different than others too.

I went home on Halloween and we went to a haunted house together with her sister and at the end of the night kissed, then i was back to school.

Now again i will be heading home, but this time im not sure what to do! i know i got absolutely no ideas running in my head of what to do when we hang out. She's been mad at me for a little while now too so i would need something special to make me her love me like she did in the beginning!!

Long story short i could use some advice considering my unusual situation with her lol I would really appreciate either past experiences or great date ideas for a college freshman and high school senior to do together!

The other day i went to a car auction up here in the rockies and bid on a 2007 Cadillac CTS. Its a very nice looking car with only 16,000 miles on it. The interior is perfectly in tacked, the outside is almost perfect with just a few small dimples from hail damage. Here are some photos if interested:
    "the damage"
    "the front"
    "the back"
Anyways i had the highest bid at $11,200. But they told me the seller wants at $14,000 for it! I knew they could take back their cars if no one bid high enough so thats not the problem.

Im going again this monday to bid on it again but i dont want to spend 14,000 on it, if its not worth the money.
I'd appreciate any advice on how i could haggle with the dealer, like bring up flaws about the car or what you think the car is actually worth to you. How much would i be able to re-sell for (good title btw) if i ever wanted to, and would you buy it?

This will be my first car by the way! As a gift from my dad.

Thanks for the advice!! It really will decide my future lol.

So im still confused. Should i get a debit card? I dont see how that builds up my credit. Should i get a credit card? and from what company. Theres just so many to choose from. A credit union? What is that and how will it be better for me to get it?

I understand the responsibilities that come with a credit card. I fortunately learned the hard way with handling money. I spent about 4,000 in less than 3 months on things i don't even use anymore. I learned from those mistakes and want to move forward.

I need a good credit rating to get loans in the future for business plans me and my friend have. I just plan to buy little things that i would normally buy with cash, that i can quickly pay off as the bills come in, like gas or a pack of gum.

Well i need advice with credit cards because im new to them. I've done some research and quite frankly, im confused. All i know about are APR rates and annual rates.

My question is this, anyone know of a reliable credit card company that doesn't have unreasonable payments for a new user, or any stupid hidden fees. Im just starting out and i wanna start on the right foot.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to.

I don't know if this will help or not, but insomnia is an underlying symptom of depression. If you resolve your depression and overcome it, you may find yourself sleeping regularly again. I think you might have a dysthymic disorder.
