I got my Player Rewards cars in. Pretty happy about them actually, in addition to 1 x Damnation, 1x Harmonize and 2x Mana Tithe I picked up a Lightning Helix, a Pyroclasm and a Giant Growth.

It seems like karma is coming back to me in a new form.

GP: Denver has been announced as Block Constructed, and I'm leaning towards going. It's August 9-10. I know it's early, but is anyone thinking of this? Because I'd love to play in a Constructed GP if I know the format in and out...which I think we all will after our intense testing.

    So...?
That;s cool, I have family near Denver... I also probably have the Bar exam around then so in the end it won't work out for me, but I'll keep it in mind.

@ombak What is in the extended zoo build anyway?
Check out the thread in the extended forum:

    http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/showthread.php?t=25181&page=20

(Skip to recent pages as the thread started in 2005).

It's basically Dark Confidant for consistency, Kird Ape, Isamaru and other 1/2 drops plus cheap and efficient burn (Lightning Helix, Tribal Flames since you're using Rav lands, EDIT: oh, and Jitte too).

Trainswalker himself posted a list there too, right now I'm working off of that.

My Kithkin block build is up.

Chops - barring bad weather I can certainly pilot decks on Friday. Again though, I'd stick to aggro since I'm unfamiliar with the format. Heck, I'd love to borrow some cards to play a 3-4 color zoo deck with in the PTQ. I have plenty of the Rav lands but little else.

i kinda like this idea, i'd be up for some testing during block season, anyway...

the enchantment deck, how would it win?

oh, and btw, the first 3 decks we should think about

are U/B faeries, treefolk(a.k.a, doran folk) and well, maybe kithkin, but right now, i see treefolk and faeries being powerful
Don't forget Kithkin get some damn good removal - Coordinated Barrage - against big attackers. Cheap and efficient.

Not so good against faeries though. Of course O Ring should always be considered for the board in white. Anyways, I'll see about posting Merfolk and Kithkin tonight.

I'll take the challenge of building a competitive creatureless deck for Lorwyn Block!

    ...

    What?

    No, you're right, I'm kidding.

In all seriousness I don't see Merfolk as competitive but I am fond of them. One benefit of having threads for this would be that when the metagame shifts a little you can simply look up the possible answers that might already have been built.

So if you're playing "rock" and beating every "scissors" deck everyone brings, but next week the game changes and suddenly "paper" is the most common build, you can just look up the right answers to it instead of starting from scratch.

Some way of keeping the boards, or that particular subforum, private would be ideal though.

We could also really start using the site that we talked about earlier in the thread and set up discussion there.

I'm excited about block, I'll admit. It's very easy (too easy) to focus on tribal archetypes and overlook non-tribal when just throwing decks together, so some good brainstorming and being able to bounce ideas off of everyone would be very helpful.

It's roGUe, not roUGe. Rouge is makeup.
Except this deck contains R... (and rouge is french for Red)... so it could actually work... Rouge Rogues?

first, depending on how bad the snow is, i may not make it to mark's. i'll text you, ombak, to let you know what the deal is... probably around 2 or so.
Yeah, I had no idea we were expecting snow today. I just woke up and have three txt msgs telling me class is canceled!

I think I might stay in today, ride or not, getting out to Mark's will be a hassle for me. Don't worry about picking me up GoC.

If I don't go and don't see oyu guys, best of luck tomorrow at the PTQ!

Is anyone going to Mark's early tomorrow?

GoC: I'd like to get a ride this week so let me know if that's possible. I'll be glad to help test by piloting some decks if you guys do go early.

I'll be by around 7:30-8:00. Any other takers? It'll be a bit awkward w/ 3; but any port in a storm, I guess is the saying.
Well, I can't make it tomorrow night, but if anyone has a zoo build I can pilot it Friday afternoon for testing.

If I were to play extended I'd go Zoo or some other aggro path.

#1, (and the biggest item) I don't know the format, #2 I have no extended cards, #3, paying the price of admission without knowing the format is just stupid. When is extended season going to be over......is block season is next right??? I'm hyped up for that.

I'm in the same boat. I wish you guys all lots of luck this weekend, but I'm eager to get to block.

Congrabs to OHNOMAN on grabbing the $30+ in first picks in last night/this morning's drafting.
And I was so close to keeping the Mutavault and Garruk but my 323 Merfolk Wizard tokens somehow weren't enough to beat DMX's 212 Elf Warrior and 321 Wolf tokens!!!

Meh, it's a shame but theres another Ronaldo (the only one :p) ready to outshine him anyway :p
That's LOL funny. (And consider that I agree that Cristiano Ronaldo is arguably the best player in the world this season).

It's good that there is a lot of optimism surrounding Ronaldo's recovery, he's basically just a big kid still and I think he needs this kind of support to recover well. Frankly though if he ever puts together a full season after this he'll have made one of the greatest recoveries in the history of sport.

I was lucky - I saw him in 1998 at the World Cup and in some games in the US (friendlies and Olympic games between 1995-1996) after I moved up to the US (watching Ronaldo-Romario was a privilege on a par with watching Pele-Garrincha and other superlative duos). I also took the month of June off in 2002 to watch the World Cup. I don't really think I want him in MLS though because I think he shouldn't play anywhere unless he can give 100% for most of the season and after this I just don't see it happening.

    I'll be at Mark's too.

(Gammerx I will bring the same cards I promised last week - let me know if you need anything more and keep in mind those that I don't have).

On my side: does anyone have a Greater Gargadon to loan me? I may try to trade for it along with all the Morningtide stuff I'll try to pick up (Crusher, Vault, Bitterblossom, Earwig and Clachan being some of the ones I most need).
