The comment about "more legendary permanents than usual" makes it a very good bet that Grandeur will be coming back. Certainly people have asked for it, and I would love to see it again.
Wait a minute...they're expecting leftover stock from the convention?
I believe they have some set aside, AND they add any leftover stock to that. In the past there were promo toys that sold out at the convention yet still went up on the website. Just got to be vigilant.
Repeatable ping effects are not impressive at 4 mana, even with the anti-blocking rider tacked on. (Like anyone blocks outside of Limited? :P) I feel like they're determined to have every version of Chandra synergize with her Phoenix and it has really locked them in to some lame +1 abilities.
The second ability is interesting for the implications, but it still seems to be as flawed and underpowered as humanly possible. It also seems like exactly the kind of thing where people go "oh, this color should totally have this ability going forward!" and then you NEVER see it again. (Even though it would be perfectly fine to have this as an attack trigger on a Dragon for instance. Would at least produce a type of Dragon we HAVEN'T SEEN BEFORE.)
The ultimate is just straight-up garbage and it gets even worse when you realize it actually goes off on the same turn as Chandra Nalaar's ultimate. Epic fail? More like mythic fail.
No, it means you cannot affect your opponents board position with your own legends. They get to do whatever they were doing.
Gosh, I guess I'll just have to use my Geist to block theirs then. Maybe I'll buff it so mine survives and his doesn't. But I guess those things don't count as interactivity?
Sometimes I feel like the word "interactivity" around here is akin to the word "electrolytes" in sports drinks. The public doesn't really know what it means, but they figure it's a good thing to have.
The thing is, hexproof is just dumb, and now one color lost half of the ways it had to deal with one. And the other - permission - has a million ways around it these days.
Allow me to play the world's smallest violin in sympathy for the blue players.
Annnnnd we're right back to having mythic dragons be pieces of crap again. ALL HAIL THE STATUS QUO!
If this effect had been on a smaller tribe it probably would've been incredible. But when you regularly pay 6 mana for each Dragon, adding only one extra ping's worth of damage is weak, weak stuff.
They have been showing up at cons (I myself saw a few of them at Steel City Con in PA the weekend after SDCC), but only from resellers.
