People are saying this is bad? Seriously? This card is insane in EDH, and it could quite possibly see play in standard if there's a deck that can ramp into it, reanimate it, or cheat it into play. No, it's not as good as Griselbrand, but if you thought that it was going to be then you need a serious reality check. Come on, people.

As for the flavor text, though, it's absolutely abysmal. I want to vomit when I read it. I reject the concept that this kind of blatant exposition belongs in flavor text. The people who care already know, and the people who don't know don't care (and probably won't read the flavor text anyway). If they do insist on printing this type of flavor text, they should at least put it on commons or uncommons like Fate Forgotten. If they're trying to educate the players who don't this already, then they should put it on a card that will show up more often than once in a few hundred boosters. And it's flat-out insulting for them to put this type of bs on a high-profile mythic legendary creature who deserves so much better.

This should have been an epic, badass quote or description that actually tells us about Razaketh and why he's so dangerous and powerful. We get this garbage instead. Why do you need to tell people something (that most of them already know) as if they're complete idiots who can't comprehend the extremely complex and deep storyline going on? Why can't they just give us any actual insight into the character? The story he was in certainly didn't do much in that area, and the flavor text didn't do jack *****. Worst of all, they're defining the entire character - this epic, legendary demon - through his relationship to Liliana. This is the problem with the entire story being centered around the Gatewatch: it's at the expense of everything else that should be important in the story.

So true. Agree with every word.

That's gross. Snap, Claim Snap, Claim Death's Shadow?

The actual sequence is: death's shadow, fatal push, claim the death's shadow, fatal push, snapcaster mage the claim targeting death's shadow, opponent flips the table, quits Magic, then Wizards bans something.

Hahaha-- what if that's my opponent? ***Flips the table***

    Hello Razaketh, the Foulblooded

This is your new home and I am your new host. My name is Meren of Clan Nel Toth but you can call me "Mereanimother" like everyone else does. Let me introduce you to some of your friends: This is Mindslicer. I bet you will make a good team. This zombie person is called Phyrexian Delver. He will help you wake up early and prepare your breakfast. Avenger of Zendikar will serve your dinner. He will make sure everyone at the table is stuffed full. And these are, in order of obscenity, Gamekeeper, Sepulchral Primordial, and Sheoldred, Whispering One. Although she is a bit xenophobic and tends to victimize herself time to time, I am sure you will get along with Eternal Witness, too.
So enjoy your stay and welcome to our EDH deck!

    Meren

    Great tournament staple. 5/5
Also, good in UBx EDH where this is recurrable with Phyrexian Reclamation, Volrath's Stronghold etc.

Why not just play Llanowar Elves-->leatherback baloth in modern?
Currently, I see zero uses for this in modern.

I don't know about std but the dont untap clause is a little harsh for a vanilla 5/4. And AFAIK aggro decks value their mana curves.

I really want the second hand market and online retailers to choke on that. Buying our cards for less than half and selling them at outrageous prices. For WotC: They are owned by a big corporation, they will recover. Cut the drama.

I hope Wizards does not forget to untap 4 lands.

Removing the core set and setting the Gatewatch as the MagicAvengers :p were huge mistakes which were mildly detailed in MaRo's articles. In reality, what is done is done, and the players/fans/customers have been and seen through the NWO MtG's pitfalls.
    As they say in MOBAS:

    GG, No RP

    Well-done Wizards, well-done...

Wish it was a third person turn based RPG where you could fill up your spellbook and collect artifacts as you travel plane after plane. You could play as an existing planeswalker whose spark is unstable because of *plot* so you can only planeswalk at certain places in the game to start a new chapter but you can always travel back to the planes you have previously visited and collect more spells in free roam/open world mode, so when you finish the campaign you can be "invaded" or challenged like in dark souls. Also, planechase must be a part of such a game. However, you can also play as a player made legendary character with whatever color combinations and all of the above applies except you travel between planes via planar portals.

A Damnation with echo. Now that's new.

You can probably create great CA against aggro decks that want to go all in. Along with precision discard, this will be backbreaking for decks that like to rely on early creature aggression. This card is also friends with decks that can naturally generate mana from nonland sources like Ad Nauseam. And by natural I mean you they already have the means to do that in their decklists.

Interesting but suffers from the Dark Confidant and his 2 mana wannabe cousins syndrome for narrow playability. My aggro decks feel uneasy while Yahenni, Undying Partisan EDH is rejoicing.

@Colt47: Thank you for your insights. Well-said.

I also suggest that commander-only products line be stopped for the same rationale as there is no clear meta for those cards to be systematically tested against, and as a result, the cards in the Commander products affect the health of the beloved, fan-made format. Basically, it is similar to starting an orchestrated arms race between decks in the commander format and that is not healthy for a casual format. I think commander will be a tournament format alongside those changes that will occur. It's like EDH is the ghost, and commander is the machine and the ghost will then completely leave the machine which has no memory that it was once flesh.

But hey, it's happening everywhere so why not here? Fools we were for thinking we were having a good time.

    @Vathlo

Good work! I like the sb. Your deck looks a lot like my list and by the sounds of it the classic stompy is still doing fine. I second the elvish spirit guide but it would change the meta altogether as it would help the combo decks, too.
Congrats and keep up the good stomping.

Okay, am I really gonna be the first one here, 8 pages into this thread, who is actually happy that we have a black character (and a female one at that) finally taking center stage in the main story? Seriously? Yall think it's boring.

Why does everything have to be a social justice? 3/5 of the main cast of magic's good guys are female. Kaya was a female person of color. Saheeli was a female person of color. Nahiri, Kiora, Narset. It's harder to find a block without a female pro/antagonist. We're all upset that the card is *****. I don't care what shape or color the character is. The game is first and foremost just that; a card game. ***** cards in the flashy mythic slot make for negative feedback.
So many quotable posts in this thread I will simply quote yours as this is the problem with the whole entertainment (brainwash?) industry these days.
Stop paying if you feel that way. Don't fuel their fire anymore and perhaps they will understand.

Including prominent characters that aren't white men is brainwashing? Do you need a safe space, snowflake?

Where did you get that idea? I am talking about variety for the sake of variety that is shoved down our throats. I am talking about making a character memorable not for his/her skin color or race but for what he/she has done or is capable of gamewise. I don't need the entertainment industry tell me that variety is good. I already know that. I need them to tell us good stories where color of skin does not matter but what the character does. This is a game that takes place in a fantasy setting where of course anything should be possible. All races should get some sun when the game calls for it. Games and movies are not a confession booth for the powerful to say "sorry for oppressing, underrepresenting you for all those years, here have some coverage." Do you know why we remember teferi? Cause he was well-written and well-designed. Why do we remember Crovax and Orim and Mirri? Because of where they are from and what they look like? Or because of their places in the story? These days all we are given are patchworks of stories and some characters sprinkled in like spices with no actual food in it. That's what I am against.

Also, calling people names is not what I am writing here for. Show some respect when you're talking to a person you know nothing about.
