Nov 27, 2018Stoogeslap posted a message on The Twelfth Annual MTGS Holiday Card Exchange! This has been a lot of fun each year that I have participated. I'd like to re-emphasize a point: please make sure you chose a nice, playable card. As silly as Vizzerdrix is, this over-costed vanilla blue dude is not playable, no matter how much you dress him up as Santa. I am not naming names, but I have gotten some really meh cards in the past that are still collecting cob webs in my binder. The card(s) do not necessarily need to be valuable, but at the least playable. You know how stokes I would be if I got a Sign in Blood that is pimped out.Posted in: Articles
Also (luckily I haven't seen this), please do not decorate HP or damaged cards. All the gorgeous artwork isn't going to make up for a crease from being bent in half or cover up the hole marks when your dog bit your Lightning Bolt.
Please do not cover up the text box w/ art or anything else. We will have seasoned players as well as the novice players (possibly) participating. Most of us know how Counterspell or Swords to Plowshares works, but some newer players who might be starting off w/ Standard may not know these cards, no matter how classic they are.
And lastly, this is important too, please takes photos of your cards before sending out because not everyone will post scans of what they got. I made this mistake last year and the lucky geek who got my alters still hasn't posted them (if you are reading this, it's never too late, lol).
Look forward to a lot (I hope) of participants. Let's make this the best Holiday Card Exchange the best one yet!!!

- Custom titles for the "archmage overlords" have been snipped to 30 characters or less and (to my experience), cannot have a color outside of black.
- Where did the itrader go? I used that a lot... needs to come back. I found something similar, but it asks for "one card" I am looking for. itrader could search up to 10 cards.
- The "curse premium" ad on the top... do not like to see a reminder about a service with a fee that doesn't add much to this particular site
- Thread that have new posts are no longer bolded... the bolded look gave a visual clue to new posts in the thread that I (the current user) has not seen.
- So far, there's not area/section at the bottom of a thread listing the members and guests reading/reviewing the thread.
- The fonts are too light (for the light skin). I'd like to see the fonts darken up a bit for easiness to read. The fonts are too thin as a whole, which makes the black appear dark gray.
- The "would you still like to leave this site..." Y/N bubble when going to a linked site. It is unnecessary.
- So far an image has to be really tiny to upload... a 16.2kb jpeg was "too big" to upload... what gives? -
Feb 4, 2014Stoogeslap posted a message on Launch Giveaway! My favorite card is Sensei's Divining Top... just being able to see what's coming to anticipate the new few moves is a big help. I actually played it a few nights ago in a casual game verses my girlfriend, and she actually voiced that she didn't like the card. She knew right away the edge it was giving me... and she's a new player!Posted in: Announcements

Is this supposed to be played to destroy your own artifact or enchantment??? So it is then a way to turn your resources into land(s) for yourself? I guess that's what makes it really strange.
There's a lot more I really like in the set, but I do feel let down on the zombie tokens.
Jeez, that expansion symbol looks to be orange... too close (to me) to be the color of mythics symbols. They needed to add a bit more yellow to the color of it.
Now that I'm thinking about, how big & splashy does a curse have to be to garnish the mythic tag?
I am hoping there are more than just this 1 of the black werewolves... or else it would be a lost cause. Not enough enough for a red/black or green/black or B/R/G werewolf tribal. So I'm willing to be there'll be at least 3 more black werewolves.
Now for that leech... Followed Footsteps or other ways to make a ton of copies or copy tokens... hmmmm...
Self mill decks could, in theory, use it... But most self mill decks and black/blue, black, or plain ol' blue. I'm building one now (Araumi of the Dead Tide).
Now if there's enough delirium in the black/green spectrum, plus cards in green that care about number of cards in the graveyard, then it may work, but only time will tell. Another thing going for this build is how green and black bring cards back... which is sort of the opposite what a deck like this does and wants to do (albeit it does turn the graveyard into a source for graveyard tutoring). Another keyword that can take advantage is threshold and it's keywordless cousins ("[X]" or more cards in your graveyard).
It will most likely not be top tier of CEDH, but a deck doesn't need to be competitive/brutal to be fun.
Of course I am talking about Commander. It'll also be part of the kitchen-table decks. But there's enough graveyard hate in sideboards (and sometimes main-decked) to warrant this card being too fragile in a competitive sense. I think Commander is enough to put it above bulk mythic.
1) Are planes spherical in nature? If not, do they have borders or go on infinite? Or is like a cartoon where you eventually emerge when exiting stage right on the left?
2) What physics (if any) differ on any of the known planes?
3) Does society and technology advance on the plains (this is a "yes" assumption w/ Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty, but what about other planes)?
4) Outside of the Phyrexian language, are there any other languages?
5) Is there a concept of "space" and "planets" on the planes (outside of moons, of course)? Does space exploration come up?
6) Id Dominaria the original plane where all has it's beginning? If not, any planes older than Dominaria?
7) In Ulgrotha, there are vampires among different races (there is Irini Sengir, a Dwarf Vampire), so why hasn't Vampire (which is more of a dead/alive state, such as zombie, skeleton, fungus, etc...) been incorporated into other races yet (vampires have, for the longest time, been treated as a human affliction)?
That's all for now! Thanks for any info given... please do your best to supply sources of info, so it's not just a guess. If it's an educated guess, please explain how you came to this conclusion.
The green legend is really interesting. Will make for some fun & casual EDH (but do not see it as being a cEDH general.
Arlinn looks like another great option as a PW that can also be a Commander.
