use the wear side to hit this thing and the tear side to hit the now obvious Legendary Enchantment Creature- God, that they also dropped into the field
also you attack them anyways, because even if they didnt pay for the ability you were obviously going to do it...
i hope this is a fake but i know that after the fail that was Emmara tandris that ability is here to stay. I am also expecting there will be a cheap mythic that the real ability gets tacked on so that we can all stare at it and drool on our store display case as it collects dust and pays the LGS rent for the month.
Also the above post summarizes my thoughts on the issue. however as a fan of red i am happy we can now shatter your engine instead of just ignoring it and win by turn 5. what is that you want me to attack? well of course!
Get a rich friend into magic. Leech of him the stuff.
Get all your buddies into magic form a team and buy boxes with pooled cash.
Get good at drawing and start to sell tokens mats and other stuff or better yet trade your work for cards.
There is other stuff i did back in the day like selling lunch to friends or drawing random people for a dollar.
Get creative where there is a need there is money.
Practice online in magic work station or other free to play mtg game like duels of the planeswalkers. The skill of your plays will improve and this will help to get those packs on top 8.
Make a single deck the cheapest competitive deck you can muster look on the standard forums for under utilized decks with long discussion going on. Evolve the deck, but be careful there is no replacement for good cards only thing you can do is create a similar effective strategy.
go to a very laid back store or a store that pays out based on games won (pack per win) that will give you at least some trade fodder. If that is not available you can talk to the owner and request one , first get some locals to back you up.
Get to know all the stores ,in your area and know the names of the resident sharks and whales. never trade without looking it up online. Value your cards like cash but keep in mind these is a game for fun and friendship.
When Rome first came out,it was a little republic that threw off its Etruscan rulers. Rome was full of Romans, speaking Latin. It took a while for Rome to catch on, but who could have guessed what it would become? Over the course of centuries, there were a lot of naysayers who said that some change or another was going to "kill" Rome. Here are some of my favourites:
1. Sextus Tarquinius: Rome needed a threat to get going -- and things were looking bad when the King's son turned out to be a jerk, but Rome handled it well and turned itself into a Republic. Really, this is how Rome entered into its first era of big popularity in the first place.
2. Hannibal and Carthage: Sure, Rome took a little while to get itself established, but they showed that the Roman way was real "salt of the earth" stuff, and Rome's popularity soared.
3. Greece: No one could have imagined how much of an impact conquering Greece was going to have on Rome. Philosophy, literature, and even art and architecture brought Rome to new levels of sophistication. Maybe Latin wasn't the tongue of scholars anymore, but Rome got stronger by taking Greece, and all sorts of people became Romans who weren't Romans before.
4. Spartacus: Tempest in a teapot, really. People got a little cross, but all was well in the end. This gave us some space for design changes like better shackles and so forth.
5. Sulla: Everyone thought emergency powers were going to ruin the city, but it turned out that it was really needed at the time. He gave his power back to the Senate, and a tradition of attainder and forfeiture was born which helped finance the state and move it into the next era.
6. Caesar: ANOTHER dictator... but this turned out to be the most famous thing in Rome's history! Can you IMAGINE Rome without Caesar? It's become fundamental to what Rome is. In fact, this can be seen as a "return to the roots" of Rome's founding -- monarchs!
7. Augustus: After the Caeserean dictatorship, everyone thought this whole "Emperor" thing was going to ruin things and take us back to the bad old days of Sextus Tarquinius, and people had gotten used to being Roman with a Senate. But the fact is that things went pretty well, and Rome got stronger, more centralized.
8. Nero: A misstep, perhaps, but Rome recovered and became stronger. Everyone has things that they regret, but Rome knew not to do that anymore. With the establishment of the "reserved list", military commanders knew to get rid of problematic emperors before they inflicted too much damage.
9. Christianity: Everyone thought this new way of doing things was going to spell the end of Roman Virtue... but we put that troublemaker up on a cross and ruthlessly tossed his followers to the lions.
10. Diocletian: A revolution in the design space of Rome: Two empires are better than one! If he hadn't done this, who knows what might have been lost later on down the line? This was brilliant.
11. Christianity, Again: Who says we can't learn from our mistakes? If it helps us conquer bridges, well... then it keeps improving the state.
12. Vandals: People were really in a tizzy over these guys, but was Rome doomed? Of course not. Heck, Stilicho was a Vandal and he saved Rome! The Vandals made Rome stronger, more diverse, and opened up new possibilities in what it meant to be a Roman. How far had Rome come from its humble origins as a Latin-speaking state run by Romans?
I was getting into the story then the Visigoths happened.
I bealive what will kill magic is us. We will all get old eventually and there will be a time that some other garfield will invent another better way of spending fryday nights and tons of cash. (girlfriends do not count, or movies or ...) This is a hobby not my life or is it?:fry:
I don't know if it's even possible for Wizards to have bungled and mishandled their 20th anniversary any more than they have.
just hold your horses, maybe we will get a pack mailed to us for every tweet to that hashtag! or maybe they could release a product with 20 staple cards in foil but only for those with twitter!
yeah it is a magical let down....:thumbsdown::thumbsdown::thumbsdown:
So why didn't you buy then? Anyone could have bought it on the semi cheap from February until July. They only started complaining about it since Jace was spoiled and now they wanted one. If you couldn't preorder from your LGS, it's your LGS fault, not Wizards. If your LGS was price gouging on preorders, tell them you ordered online and will be taking your business elsewhere.
Not all magic players live in the USA. Here down south we have 2 proper LGS for the whole country (one on the capital the other is located on the far end of the country) the one i go to does not do a good job of keeping up with special products. Orders overseas are often missplaced or lost etc.
I am not angry at this set from the day jace was spoiled i am angry at this set since the day i found out magic 20th aniversary reward to all the players was going to be some limited product. To be more exact i was not as mad till M14 was spoiled completly devoid of old favorites and bland as a whole. I would have prefered something like the graveborn deck to the travesty that is and will continue to be FTV: YEARLY CASHGRAB.
Your username should be "wah wah wah". Seriously, the only reason any of your are crying is because you either weren't interested in this set before Jace was spoiled and so you didn't preorder a set or you procrastinated too long playing the wait and see game and didn't preorder one. Well guess what, too frigging bad for you. It's your own fault, anyone that is now complaining about it. No one to blame but yourself.
So, I say suck it up and either pay for it now or just forget about it. It's not stopping you from playing the game and I am willing to bet dollars for donuts that most of you weren't interested in it until you found out jace was in it. Now you expect to be catered to or cry foul. Sounds like pure bull$#!+ to me.
WRONG.
I was going to buy this since february before they anunced the wallet sculptor was in.
some people are mad because this is supposed to be a lets celebrate the 20th aniversary set has now turned into lets see who can shell out more for a jace the wallet sculptor reprint in extremly limited run.
I have seen no rewards to old paper magic custumers relating to the aniversary yet. I hope the future we can all get some swag AT LEAST to say that we lived thruoght this special time in our beloved game.
People don't want to hear the truth they just want a place to vent their fictitious frustrations.
MTGS seems to attract the most jolly Magic players, eh?
People who are the most bitter about life seem to be the ones that seek to scape it. Still there are better scapist fantasies than playing a card game.
I am sad that wizards idea of celebrating the card game 20th birthday is a bad coreset and a limited colectors only product.
At least we get more gimicky pre-releases now than before.
I had the worse pre-release expierience in recent memory. Mana fixing is god awfull in m14 and if you dont crack power you will be stuck with nothing at all. I had to make a3 color deck just so i could have enough removal for the stupid slivers decks, and still lost 2-0 twice to double strike sliver.
Attendance seemed low but that is normal around here.
When i started to play it was rash i got stripped of my good cards in sharking trades almost every week. I could barely ever make it to prices and was stuck on the i want to be original and win mentality many noobs have.
Then i started to play on a diferent more casual store, at the same time ravnica 1 hit i build a golgari deck but this time arround i tested it online in mtgworkstation i think i was called. I dedicated to play the deck again and again till i tuned it out. I inmediatly started to see the payoff in wins.
I managaed to make due in magic by selling hand drawn cards i would trade my drawings for staples i was looking for. That trading and some good friends i found along the way allowed me to start top 8 every other week and getting packs to trade and build my single RDW deck. The store had a 1 win 1 pack payout which was great for growing the game and the comunity.
I say magic is about the store. I currently have not played in 2 months and i am very close to quitting since where i live now the store is very desinterested on growing magic at all. They hold 3 dollar FNM with price to top 3 and 10 dollar drafts with rare re-drafting.
The same 10 cats always show up. Only time they make money is on pre-release and realease because thats when the people that cannot afford a box go to get new stuff (this is like the only store in the whole country, the other one is 9 hour away close to the border).
all cards are good in this one. the blue one turns edh critters into eggshells. the zombie kicks control people in the nads and the sovereign has kick as ability that stops haste and/or draws removal to a less than impresive piece.
I actually have two cards foil Serra embrace and jareth, leonin titan i won my firsts battles with them both, back in highschool. And i have been a fan of magic ever science.
I am half specting the gods to have the eldrazi clause on shufling back, but if they do i expect them to have a wall o text attached to them.
i hope this is a fake but i know that after the fail that was Emmara tandris that ability is here to stay. Just keep that sweet cardboard crack coming
