Protection only functions on the battlefield unless otherwise noted.
Moot point but if the protection did function everywhere it still would not matter because Telemin Performance
does not try to Damage, Enchant/Equip/Fortify, Block, or Target Emrakul. You are targeting your opponent with Telemin.
If he can't name a world leader he admires because he doesn't admire them, that's one thing. If he can't name a world leader eh admires because he can't name them, that's something entirely different. I'd give him some measure of respect if he admitted the former, but turning it into a joke makes it look like the latter.
This.
As a Libertarian myself I cant stand Johnson. The guy is a joke and his VP is no better.
During Legends, when it was still in print, I lusted after Carrion Ants myself. It was a $20+ rare at the time - the highest in Legends as far as I knew at the time. It's almost comical seeing the 5th edition version that you autocarded going for $0.21.
Another similar rare from Legends that was close in price was Killer Bees. That one was pretty envied as well, even though it only fit in heavy Green decks.
Damn forgot about the bees. That card was a house back in the day also at the kitchen table. Never seen the 5th ed. version of the ants until i autocarded it here. I have to pick up at least one of those bad boys.
Found this in another thread. Response from willdice.
Devoid is a characteristic-defining ability, meaning it is always applied first, before any other color-defining effect.
613.1. The values of an object's characteristics are determined by starting with the actual object. For a card, that means the values of the characteristics printed on that card. For a token or a copy of a spell or card, that means the values of the characteristics defined by the effect that created it. Then all applicable continuous effects are applied in a series of layers in the following order:
613.1e. Layer 5: Color-changing effects are applied.
613.2. Within layers 1-6, apply effects from characteristic-defining abilities first (see rule 604.3), then all other effects in timestamp order (see rule 613.6). Note that dependency may alter the order in which effects are applied within a layer. (See rule 613.7.)
702.113a. Devoid is a characteristic-defining ability. "Devoid" means "This object is colorless." This ability functions everywhere, even outside the game. See rule 604.3.
So Painter's Servant will succeed on giving a color to a Devoid card like Barrage Tyrant. It won't be colorless anymore.
No. When a card uses its name in the rules text its basically saying 'this card.'
So in short the card reads...
When Aegis Angel enters the battlefield, another target permanent gains indestructible for as long as you control This Card.
201.4. Text that refers to the object it’s on by name means just that particular object and not any other objects with that name, regardless of any name changes caused by game effects.
201.4a If an ability’s effect grants another ability to an object, and that second ability refers to that first ability’s source by name, the name refers only to the specific object that is that first ability’s source, not to any other object with the same name. This is also true if the second ability is copied onto a new object.
Confront the Unknown does not grant +1/+1 counters. It gives a creature +1/+1 equal to clues until the end of turn not a +1/+1 counter.
