Simple question that I am sure will come up with the rise in popularity of these two cards.
Player A activates Varaska the Uneseen's +1 and passes.
Player B swings in with Blood Baron of Vizkopa at Varaska.
Does the Blood Baron's protection from Black prevent it from being destroyed or does it die to the ability?
This seems obvious, but I have a disagreement in our local FNM about how this will work. Please answer with an explanation and/or rules quote if possible.
Will Battlefield Thaumaturge reduce the cost of a counter spell that target creatures. ie If I target a creature, does dissolvecost only UU?
Hey everyone, I've recently become an explorer for Google and now own a pair of Google Glasses. I've instantly thought of at least a dozen different ways that I can use them for magic (ie looking up rulings, current prices, translating foreign cards, recording live drafts/games, etc.) and will be working with the development kit once it's released on some cool glassware (apps).
No, this isn't just a brag thread, here's why I've really posting. Even though I've literally just received my Google Glass, Google sent me an email that allows me to invite a couple of individuals to also join the Google Glass explorers and purchase Google glass (keep in mind it's still beta and you can't get them any other way right now). So i'm looking for a couple of fellow magic players who would like to get their hands on Google Glass now. So far, from looking at blogs and post from other explorers I'd say were are an under represented group and I want to change that.
In order to be an explorer you have to meet a few conditions, you have to be at least 18, be a resident of the U.S., have a U.S. shipping address or pick them up at LA, NewYork, or SanFran, and pay the $1,500 cost to purchase Glass.
If you would like me to consider you for one of my few invites, PM me. In the PM confirm that you meet the conditions above and have the funds to pay the $1500 (I just don't want to waste any of the invites). Also, let me know a few ideas of what you plan to do or think you could use them for and what state you live in (I'd love to meet up and get a game of magic recorded from both perspectives).
My invites will expire in 10 days. So I'm going to let this remain open here for five days. At the end of 5 days (or sooner if everyone replies at once) I'll pick the folks who are getting the invites and send them out to give them a couple of days to get this in order on their end and place their orders.
If you have any questions about Google Glasses, post 'em here.
Mods if this thread is in the wrong location, please feel free to move it.
Forget plummet How about Dismiss into Dream and Zephyr Charge. Last long enought to get it out and you can make your opponent sac their creatures at 1u a pop.
The best part is that rare will probably not be a high pick in draft until the combo becomes more well know. Enjoy blasting faces with this combo this weekend.
As stated, this is unlike any GP ever held before and has shattered the previous record. As someone who was at GP Charlotte, I can tell you one of the main reasons the event was thrown off track was the extra hour or so when on Sat. the registration went past the cut off due to the huge line. So I totally get why they are doing it this way. It ensures that they know the actual attendance number the night before the event and can arrange seating and everything appropriately instead of scrambling at the last minute.
I can see this pissing off locals or people close enough to drive who didn't want to come in a day early, but anyone who has been planning to go to this event, booked a flight, etc., should have preregisterd online by now. I can't see someone who has spent the travel/hotel money not just going ahead and registering online to ensure they have a spot. And if nothing else, you can just show up on Friday to register in person still.
Agreed. Brute force was played. I could see this along side slaughterhorn for wrecking in limited. It also give red a good bloodrush for decks not running green like boros. For constructed it could end up in a mono red weenie deck. Works great in the mirror when they try to spear your attacking creature.
Wait, I thought all the shocks were in this one too from the spoiled on how the packs work? I thought you got either a shock or a gate and then sometimes the mythic. But the shocks aren't listed? Did I miss something?
This is gonna make Naya midrange extra epic. With Resto and Thrag on the ground, activating this means getting to Resto the Thrag again for twice the tokens and life gain. I think I'm fine dodging wrath to gain two 3/3s and 10 life.
Edit: Well the first token would die to said wrath, but you get the idea.
Hmm, he might be interesting in BUG with Misthollow Griffin. You can setup a cycle with Griffin where you can keep scavenging the Griffin and recasting it. Seems like some nice combo/card advantage.
If I have a Desecration Demon soulbonded to Galvanic Alchemist and my opponent responds to the demo trigger and sacs a creature to tap it and put a +1/+1 counter on it. Do I still have priority before declaring attackers to use the soulbonded ability to untap the demon so I can swing with it?
It is my understanding that priority has to pass all player without response before moving on the next phase, so this should work right?
My Best moment was the game I won with Azor's Elocutors. He was playing Rakdos with awesome beats and I was playing a jank Selesnya pool. I was down most of the game and thanks to lifelinkers on his side he was at 23 to my 4 life. Then I dropped Elocutors and was able to sit back and chump/trade with his dudes just long enough to get the filabuster win.
It was so epic, but felt like such a stolen win (which it was). That card completely captures the flavor of politics perfectly.
Ah, you're right sorry I had forgotten about that.
As for what to remove, I'm not sure if you need a full set of pillar and Annihilating Fire in the same deck. Izzet charm is also taking out 2 toughness, so you might be able to swap out pillars or annihilating fire for delvers.
Also your deck is not standard legal as of today or at rotation. Fling wasn't reprinted in M13, so it won't be in the same format as Nivmagnus.
I would replace sleep with Blustersquall. At the overload cost you get almost the same effect, but it allows you the flexibility to cast it early for one mana to feed Nivmagnus.
New site will take some getting used to, but its a change for the better.
My favorite card is also all about change, Grip of Chaos is my all time favorite card because sometimes we just need a little chaos to shake things up.

These are just proxies a guy made. They look neat, but nothing official.

Edit: LAST DAY and still some spots left.
