  • posted a message on Change of Stack rulings?
Hey all. I haven't played MTG in awhile and I encountered something weird when talking to my friends who currently play now. Here's the situation.

I control a Merfolk Looter and my opponent has 4 Swamps untapped. He proceeds to tap two mana to cast Doomblade on my Looter. In response, I tap the looter to draw/discard. He then responds by tapping two mana and casting another Blade.

By memory, the creature dies to the latest Doomblade cast but the ability still goes through and I get to draw/discard. My friend says that the rulings are now different and that the card not only gets destroyed by the latest doomblade on the stack, but since my creature is no longer in play, I don't get to draw/discard anymore.

    Clarification?

Flight = "To run away" in this case. It'll be a bit confusing to a lot of people though so I doubt it might be used. Unfortunate, really. 'kuz it does have flavor.

This isn't a very strong ability, I'm afraid. Joiner Adept vastly exceeds it, and you get a 2/1 creature too. You could make these far more efficient.

Another difference here is that Joiner adept as well as mana fixing is a green ability. He created a cycle which is usable by all five colors. Joiner dwarfs the cycle only because green is the king of mana fix.

    Wrath Spark > Paladin En-Vec.

And the pally was a good staple as well. Your card cheapens it by W, and ditches the +1/+1 in favor of flying, haste, trample and vigilance. O.o

this may not be the right place to post this...but i dont know where else to put it......is there an MSE program for mac? i tried to dowload it on my friends computer, and i dont remember the exact message, but it was something to the extent of not being able to run the program because it wasnt formatted for mac. if any1 knows anything PM please and thanx.

There is currently none as stated above however, you can run a program called Boot Camp in order to use Windows and therefore MSE within your Mac. (It does require you to partition a part of your hard drive though.) But that would require you to make use of a windows CD (XP ideal.) THe alternatives are to simply work with Photoshopping cards instead or asking for someone in the artwork section to do it for you. I guess those are your viable solutions.

The quality went down a lot when it was put into MSE.

Just a quick question on behalf of the people making FLIP cards... If a render is provided, how heavily will we be marked down on it if the art isn't a flip art and is just 2 pieces of art put with each other. Because it's pretty tough to find art that flips that looks magic-y.

  • posted a message on correct cost for "destroy target creature"
I'd probably say for black BB Sorcery speed and 2B for instant speed. Naturally, they both won't have the 'can't be regenerated' clause.

2B compared to Rend Flesh has the lacking of the Arcane mechanic. Add this to the fact that that card was created as a set to match with another Kamigawa card that banished spirits. Usually, set cards aren't used to fully match power ratings.

For regeneration prevention, I'd probably say 1BB so it doesn't overpower dark banishing. And to one-up 'destroy a creature', I'd probably set 'Target creature's owner sacrifices it.' to probably BBB or 3B but that's just me.

Leveler bears a strong resemblance to Mageta the Lion.

Alric could be a one-sided wrath for it's cost at instant speed with a free creature tacked onto it.

Judgings are all done. Generally high scores, but I attribute that to the word limit, which prevented people from making long, complex, and (inevitably) broken abilities. I support more rounds with word limits!

Well said. I remember the very first FCC I joined, I got into the finals. And the first thing I did was worry about how to stand out... So the card text became HUGE... In which case, I proceeded to get last place by a fairly large margin. -.-

Would it be possible to create a small thread with a compilation of advice to newbie players on what NOT to do during the FCC? I think it would lead to the improvement of card production which is what we all want, isn't it? Maybe some mods, or past winners could help contribute advice for the new players.

    Just sayin'.

    Adarkar Meddler obsoletes Puppetteer.

Homeguard Veteran is probably too good at a common and the vigilance seems tacked on. (You don't want to swing with a 1/1 anyway) O.o

Quicksnap would've been broken if it were printed during the Odyssey Block. But now, I'd say that it's all good. Good idea balancing the discarded card to blue. That would help heaps.

Allocate works, I suppose. But I feel that for devoted blue, you should be able to allow full flexibility of the card draw. Like, 1 to a teammate, 1 to you, 2 to you or 2 to teammate... Stuff like that. Dedication usually upgrades cards. Why not this one?

Also, I'd disagree with the above poster. Archdemon's Scorn works. But the flavor, I don't think is there. Black usually deals damage to creatures then drains them, or deals damage to players then drains them. Black usually doesn't deal just damage to a player without lifedrain. I do, however, think that 1 lifeloss and a card for 1 isn't imbalanced. For one, Misery Charm gives 2 lifeloss for 1 mana. Sure, it doesn't have the cantrip but it has flexibility. So 1 less life lost should be more or less fair.

    So yeah.

  • posted a message on Sacrifice enchanted creature
    Hey guys, quick question.

If there's an aura that deals with sacrificing the enchanted creature then triggers the aura moving, will this wording work?

Sacrifice enchanted creature: Attach [Cardname] to target creature.

Or will that send it to the graveyard? I don't know the order of priority. Maybe a judge can help me out with it or something?
