    Scenario A:
use (preferably land-based) ramp to hit Nissa, Worldwaker turn 4, then untap 4 lands and cast Perilous Vault.
Following turns: use Nissa to animate lands while threatening to exile anything the opponent tries to scare you with.

Either the opponent deliberately holds back, and you have ten plus mana on your side of the table, and you win...
Or the opponent overcommits, you exile everything but your land-creatures, and you win.

    Scenario B: (NOTE: MAGICAL CHRISTMASLAND)
use (preferably land-based) ramp to hit Nissa turn 4, then untap 4 lands and cast The Chain Veil.
Optional: Watch opponent burst into tears.
Following turn, use Nissa to untap forests not once but twice, spitting out Perilous Vault and leaving mana open for Dictate of Karametra at OEoT.
Congratulations, you can Ultimate Nissa, spitting out an army, exiling all nonlands, and whatever else you want with your twenty plus mana.

    Deck concept:
2 card choices taken, 2 optional. The chain veil and dictate of Karametra are completely non-required, if you find better, use it.
I couldn't find a good card to grant all the forests haste. would have to splash red for the Hammer of Purphoros.

But I saw the combo and immediately my mind looked back to the olden days of Plow Under allowing Mono Green control decks to exist.
It's two cards, but Perilous Vault might as well be green. I don't know of another color better suited to recovering from nuking everything but lands.

Chandra is still underwhelming and boring, but that's probably the best you can ask for in a core set planeswalker for red.
Honestly I'd rather see Koth printed in her place. We're past the point at which Chandra can be "good."

Why can't they? I'm interested in playing not collecting.

This is a collectable card game.
Collectable is part of the game.

If you don't like it, that's okay, but they're not going to throw out that part of the game because there's people who do like it.

I love everything about this card.
The inability to go infinite on one turn is a tad lame, but given how easily you could go off, it's probably for the best. I like that it encourages longer games.

But most of all, I have a reason to play EDH again after this card comes out. I got so sick of seeing the board wiped on every turn, that I just stopped playing. This at least discourages that behavior.

I submitted an idea that might be a little more subtle.

    "Schadenfreude."

Granted, it would mostly just be funny watching the translation team try and wrap their heads around that.

I think WoTC printed M14 because they realized there's no ****ing way they can compete with the Steam Summer Sale.

Sir, I wish to borrow this quote for a sig. You mind?

    Apprentice Wizard is better

where would you get the blue mana needed to make it infinite? Don't think you'd be able to cast emrakul with just that wizard. with mana elves and ramp, you could race to infinite mana rather than playing it slow and safe to hit the teens in mana.

Well, this is the biggest letdown I've ever seen in Magic. After implying rather heavily that they were going to push Chandra, here's what we get.

A 4-mana planeswalker, with a +1 ability that's at best less effective than a 1 mana sorcery, a +0 ability that's less effective than "draw a card," and an ultimate that will never be used ever except in games that have already been decided twice over.

She is TERRIBLE for aggro. 4 mana cards should do more than 1 damage and should do more than "target creature can't block, unless it's hexproof, or already turned sideways, or can sacrifice, or any number of other things that well, half the damn creatures in the format do."

4 mana cards should do more than draw one freaking card.

This is the biggest letdown in the history of letdowns. You know what? **** it. This right here? I'm walking away from Magic: the Gathering for at least one core set and two blocks. You MIGHT see me back when this embarrassment rotates out.

Look at the crap that blue gets. Delver. Snapcaster. Those things are ridiculous and they AREN'T EVEN TOP TIER ANYMORE. But when Wizards decides they're going to showcase a red PLANESWALKER, she gets the ****tiest end of the weakest ass stick they could find in the damn backyard.

They did not even try to make her decent.

These abilities have NO synergy. They do not invoke her flavor at all. Even the artifact that references her is mediocre. That freaking witch with the newt and cauldron got more attention and care than Chandra did.

What is it about Wizards of the Coast that they are compelled to treat Blue like the rich white male landowner of the game, while every other color gets lazy ass treatment like this? Cards like Thragtusk and Sulfuric Vortex are so rare and so far between that they can only be mistakes. and most of the time they need a blue control shell to even work.

But I've said my piece. I'm done.

I'm sorry I can't handle any more pages of this nonsense without commenting.

This is a six mana planeswalker that has "draw 5 cards" as its +1 loyalty ability.
What's that you say? he only draws them if they're creatures? Well, it's nice that you didn't need those lands since you're already up to six mana! they were dead cards anyway, now they're just at the bottom of your deck rather than being dead weight in your hand. The only real downside is that he puts the other copies of himself on the bottom of your deck, making it less likely that he exploits the new legend rule to draw like 10 cards in one turn, fueling the most ridiculous green shenanigans ever.

If you aren't in a winning position the turn after fetching ALL creatures from the top five cards of your deck, you had already lost the game and have no grounds to complain.

Six mana? That's a valid concern and a serious drawback.

    IMMEDIATE FIVE-CARD ADVANTAGE?
There are only two words appropriate to say in response to that, and they are

    WORTH IT.

Accusing people of picking Liliana just for "the tits" is awfully childish and disrespectful.

I rather liked the wordplay and flavor behind the fact that they're using both definitions of the word "wake" in the art description.

Liliana's card art has been very nice, but never just about her body.

And just in case you didn't notice, one of the other card art descriptions ALSO mentions a female character, but you likely didn't leap to attack it because it's not an easy target.

Liliana is nowhere near as bad as Jace when it comes to "Hey we need a blue mage for this artwork. where's poster boy?" Dude is frickin everywhere.

Are you the same guy who played maindeck 4x Surgical Extraction 4x Memoricide at my local store last season? Please come back, I don't get as many free wins anymore! ; )

In all fairness though, as long as you're mono red, I think it's still a sideboard card, but won't be super awful in the main, unless you constantly get paired up against other mono-red opponents. And let's be honest, if there is justice in the universe, you will.

I do recall once playing 2 memoricide maindeck, but there were 3 surgical extractions in the board. Smile

Granted, this was when I cast them every game naming Jace, which was still too slow to beat him.

    It was a dark time.

If you guys are gonna "fix" this by adding to it, why not go the simpler route:

"Whenever a card leaves an opponent's hand..."

"If it was a land, add BB to your mana pool"
"If it was a creature, put a 2/2 token into play"
"If it was a noncreature, nonland card, draw a card."

boom. instantly your opponent must make some seriously tough decisions, and even holding cards in hand is a very serious risk. This would be playable at five to six mana, let alone 3.

It is worse than Manabarbs. Like Barbs, this is not a main deck card...

    Says YOU, sucka.

Every single deck that I have played against in FNM has run nothing but shocklands and core set duals. There are people playing white/green hybrid lands over basic forests just to be slightly more consistent when casting reckoner.

Son, I am going to main deck 4 of this card in every deck that I play until it rotates. And when it rotates, it's probably going to stay maindeck, and the judge is going to have to walk over, pull it out of the sleeve, and replace it with a basic mountain while someone holds me back.

Personally I like the idea of swinging with an unblockable creature with 2 whispering madness encoded, and watching my opponent groan when I drop notion thief after the first madness goes off.

that, or casting the madness and encoding it on a creature that can attack.

you discard, stuff happens, then I draw ridiculous and you're out of gas? OK.

Granted it's a little ridiculous, but it's between 5-8 mana and 2 cards, depending on what your opponent discards, you may have the mana for counters open.

This card's not too shabby, but I'm still going to hunt down the people responsible for letting land lose. It won fair and square. Lands are the most iconic part of Magic, they're easily some of the most powerful cards in the game, and they can certainly have great potential. To poison the well with negative feedback before asking another poll was very unprofessional, but to hell with that. Shame on you all who voted for enchantments. I will doom blade the lot of you and reanimate you, then force your corpses to watch terrible movies until the end of time, MST3K style.

(note: that comment was facetious, and intended in good humor. I can't cast doom blade in real life... yet. I wish nothing but good gaming to my fellow players.)
