Almost all lists I see are cutting down to 17 lands by running a single Blood Crypt. I am currently on 2x Blood Crypt (18 lands) for 2x Anger of the Gods in the side. Is Anger not worth it? I see almost no sweepers out of any sideboards. Am I missing something here?

One for one often feels nice. People like Reid Duke always felt spot removal was better than board wipes. If dredge isnt dominating anger doesn't seem that amazing

Also, lists have been running 17 lands for quite a bit now with bauble builds.

I was able to sorta blindly sideboard ok since, like you said, this feels like a hyper jund. When I need to take the control route that's when side out wraiths, 2x lotv on the draw, etc.

If I feel conflicted with no super clear cut plan I'll shave a wraith, 1x tarfire, 1x iok, etc.

Your sideboard plans are what I basically did minus the fulminator mage.

I did find the mana being 3 colors so smooth. Made life easier. I usually fetch for getting the overgrown and crypt first and then get the second tomb as my third land.

Beating kci on the draw with a mull to 5 felt nice.

I think maybe you're being slightly results oriented? I think maybe 1 main trophy could be a good compromise. I compromised with your list and played 1 dismember and 1 terminate.

Gonna see if I can repeat and get a 3 and 1 record. The jund approach it had and not being so tempo felt nice. Grixis shadow is definitely less grindy than it was a year ago.

I was impressed with the main deck. Not sure what I'd really change in the main. Still testing ghor clan as he wasnt used. Sometime he telegraphs our plan.

I kinda gave up using cb on these creature decks with lords. Its been too underwhelming with my experience with this archetype in general. Unless you have some bad card in the main.

I wouldn't be shocked if k command could be replaced with 1x trophy. Dunno though. I dont see too many flex spots

It feels like you're possibly relying too much on artifact decks going away? I think we will see more affinity decks. I wouldn't be shocked if we see more whir lantern.

I forgot I also only played 1 terminate in your list, with 1 dismember. Dismember can involve some of shadows most busted openers.

The zoo deck I played had voices, goyf, scooze, cat, and bbe. It honestly felt like the games came down to who was on the play.

The gds game, I didn't have anything relevant in my hand. He had an opener of like 4 discard so the game felt close.

I see your arguements for 4x fulminators, but that's a lot of 3x drops, no? I dont love the maindeck trophies but maybe you'll know how to go about it.

I was quite happy with how the maindeck felt, I think the 3x lotv is definitely right in this meta.

Game 2 he was stuck on 1 land for a little. He had like 4 discard in his opener. I had an opener of

    2x goyf, 1x fatal push, 1x lotv, 1x thoughtseize, 2x fetches.

He telegraphed his serum pretty badly when he bottomed both cards immediately.

He was at 1 life left, 2 cards in hand. He had 1x shadow on board. I was at 7 life with a 1x big goyf and 1x shadow. I dont double block and he concedes as he would have dismembered me. Apparently a lot of people would have double blocked. I dont like the idea of doing tbr in a grindy matchup but I guess some people do.

Dude, kci was rightfully banned. The deck was not good to have around. It was fast, resilient, had an amazing sideboard game, a logistical nightmare, complicated rules, awful to watch on camera. It was a fine reactionary ban. It also had crazy gp results despite not being a huge chunk of the meta.

Modern does have a problem being too fast and linear. Its going to take years of good new cards if ever, to fix that.

Gsz and sfm does not just magically fix this. Preordain and ponder have possible negative consequences, and everyone wants to not have this thread dedicated to twin talk.

Or they bypass standard and bring things into modern. Thats all I see working.

Kci is rightfully banned, I can't see how anyone thinks otherwise

Got 40 in store credit going 4 and 0 against a janky brew, kci, naya zoo and grixis shadow.

I saw the list from defish on mtggoldfish. 3 maindeck lotv, 1 k command. I think I kept the sideboard the same except shaving 1 cb for 1x grim lavamancer and 1x anger instead of languish

    Deck performed well all night.

I have a question about the grixis shadow matchup vs death shadow jund

He sideboarded out 3x mishra baubles, 2x bolts and something else. He kept in 2x battlerages. That's shocking and wrong, right? He was pretty adamant about it and even was a little condescending about it. Was he right? Id like to know since I play both decks

I figured you never boarded out baubles as it smooths out your draws and makes up for playing 17 lands.

Skullclamp could be okay-ish if there was no dredge or affinity. Still annoying, much like mental misstep.
I guess stoneforge and twin are okay to come in the format.
Still not a huge fan of the bloodbraid elf unban. just a personal preference though.
maybe something will happen with kci.

The unban that did absolutely nothing for jund except for a three month span?

    Stop.

I play both, UR Phoenix and GDS, and i can tell you the MU can be pretty miserable for both sides but overall GDS should be favored. If you have an early threat backed up by discard and removal for Thing and Drake it's pretty hard for the phoenix deck to win but they can also have their multiple phoenix + bolt draws that cannont be broken up via a single Discard spell and run you over in a hurry.

After boarding the MU becomes even more favorable for GDS.

What should the sideboard plan be for GDS against Phoenix decks?

Man, you're obviously doing something right, as you're topping tournaments.

I played against one of the guys who recently got first place in the SCG tournament at my store. Game 3 I made a mistake scrying to the bottom a steam vents I needed for my Shadow against him as Hollow One in game 3. I instantly regretted it the second I bottomed it. The tiny decisions you make in Grixis multiple turns ago can be disastrous. I feel like Jund Shadow has less of that.

There isn't that much info on an expansive sideboard with Jund Shadow and 4C shadow. I would love to see one and write it down.

Ben Jones twitter account really helped me board correctly with Grixis. Just need enough references.

I think I agree, Grixis Twin would be where it's at.

You also have to look at how other decks would adjust. Grixis Shadow is adjusted to THIS meta. Grixis Shadow could grind like crazy in it's old build as long as you weren't UWx.

With Shadow around, I don't feel like UR Twin would be the way to go anymore.

Grixis could afford to maybe play---2 field of ruins?

I doubt AV would be played. Jace, however, would be pretty sweet. Would you guys really play the new Ral over Keranos or Jace, though?

Wraith, a turn 2 Goyf used to be disastrous for Twin with a turn 1 to turn 3 discard. I can't imagine UR Twin being happy at the sight of Shadow.

Nice, job, man! So, if you could, what would you use those two tracker spots for? Something grindy, more removal?

Oh, please, Mengucchi is full of *****. He wrote that second statement because he doesn't want to see the repercussions of his original feelings. I also think there's a reason CFB stopped giving him modern content and regulated him to mainly legacy articles, sprinkled with standard.

This all being said, banning KCI won't fix an inherent problem modern is facing---it is very much a format with decks ignoring one another. KCI is just another powerful, problematic deck---but it's not solely to blame.

I truly think it's time to unban some powerful, risky cards like Twin. If not, then I feel like WOTC is going to have to continue to ban decks like this and we have to hope to god to continue to have very fair, meaningful cards enter the pool.

Or, some type of cards that bypass standard and enter modern.

I'm not asking for a KCI ban, but I really wouldn't be upset. It's not like modern is better for it being around.

This deck diversity looks like hot garbage.

50% aggro, a bunch of different decks that are just shades of the same deck.

It doesn't even feel like midrange decks stop these aggro decks.

Banning a bunch of things will just anger people.

And what will SFM fix? Seriously? It'll change the scapeshift of modern for 2 months when people are excited to play the card.

Would Chrome Mox be okay in modern?

It can't really be played in any of the Stirrings decks, and I'm not sure if the Looting decks could make much use of it either (certainly not dredge or phoenix at least). For Spirits and Humans, I'm pretty sure Aether Vial is just better but I could be wrong. Grixis Death's Shadow would also never touch this card.

The only decks I would worry about abusing it are Storm and Devoted Druid combo, because of the ability to play turn 1 Baral/Electromancer/Druid and go off on turn 2. Granted, these plays are still promptly dealt with by one mana removal spells. But if it would end up increasing the consistency of turn 2 or turn 3 kills from these decks, it's a big no-no.

These bans and unban suggestions suggested---have not been on point. At all.

Fast mana helps broken decks more. Period. End of Story. This would make the entire meta more degenerate. Tax decks already have bad topdecks, this will help combos more than a turn 1 Thalia.

And the decks you did suggest it would help---enables games were someone is denied from playing by turn 1?

    Turn 1 Stony Silence---go.

    Turn 1 RIP. Go.

    Turn 1 Chalice. Go.

    Turn 1 Leon. Go.

Like, this sounds awful, and these are the scenarios YOU picked out.

    Just. No.

We need new cards. SFM needs to be unbanned as it's a joke.

Preordain would be nice, but between Grixis, Phoenix and Storm it looks rough.

    Maybe GSZ. Maybe Twin.

Don't think there's many other options outside of hoping for new cards to help modern.
