He has a card to reveal on stream or something.

library crunched out, hm? That's extremely disappointing then.

I'll consider the entire thoughtseize category in dire need in modern if a bomb or two isnt dropped next week.

Deed wouldn't fix anything. I've already said it before, answers is no longer what is needed. It's super efficient threats and card filtering. Hym is just a powerful effect that sorta hits everything.

They havent revealed many black cards yet so I'm waiting for next week.

Reid Duke has some kind reveal, maybe some kind of fixed DRS, I think. That and a sylvan library that's fixed and good would be a huge win for me. Hym I'm not sure what would do, I dont know what a fixed mana efficient version would look like.

Midrange and Shadow decks nearly nonexistent in SCG tournament. The archetype as a whole needs an influx of good spoilers, or now needs more attention from RnD the way blue was given the past few years.

DRS like card or bust for this set!

I imagine 2x Wrens is probably closer to what we'll have. No opinions on Last Hope with Wren.

UW Control...has received SO much these past two years. I actually think GBx is significantly worse than UWx now as far as fair decks go. I don't have it in me to play 50 minute games in large tournaments every round though.

The problem with midrange is that it's been left behind with too much efficiency from other combo decks, graveyard recursion, faithless looting, cantrips, etc. Decks are ripping through their decks or winning while we play a turn 3 LOTV.

Midrange is overrepresented for its power level, but it's really not what you should be doing in modern right now. It needs something stupid good like DRS or Sylvan levels, I think. I'll definitely have to roll my eyes at the thread if people celebrate over a vindicate or some type of spoiler.

I spent years playing a foiled out jund deck that is mainly irrelevant now. What makes you so feel you're entitled? I'd love a drs unban or pod but it's not happening. Great arguements or not. You moved the goal line. Before it was all blue is bad, then it was gds isnt for me. Then Phoenix is too linear.

You said it yourself, you're doing 3 and 1 or 4 and 0 a lot. Its competitive enough with where you play.

I wonder if teid dukes preview will be some kind of fixed version of DRS.

As a therapist in real life, I have to say I've never seen ptsd occur from the banning of a card before.

I mean, did the twin ban fail? Yup. Does blue have a bunch of good, viable tier 1 and tier 2 decks? Yeah. You're making this hard, man.

Bro, blue has honestly had enough from the last two sets that I wouldn't feel bad if there were zero playable cards for them from here on in Horizon's spoilers.

You're trying to reinvent the deck a little too much, I think. If Jund restructures that much it'll be become Jund Loam because the deck of choice for Jund, not this.

I wonder if Wrenn could even be a 3 of. He synergies nicely with LOTV on curve. Turn 2 play him, turn 3 LOTV it up. Something like -1 Land, -1 Bob, and -1 of something else. It'll deal with the "Do I want to play 4 Bobs with 4 BBE's in the deck."

Wrenn also works nicely in that little creatures swarm the board one can be pinged away and the other could be edicted. Replacing Bob straight up is not viable though, he's still our best CA in the deck.

I also like the idea that Raging Ravine's could come back to our hands in grindy matches.

I wouldn't add Grim Flayer, he's only making your deck super soft to GY hate at that point.

Sweet art work but it looks underwhelming.

I'm not sure I love the idea of SFM being unbanned anymore...I think UW midrange/control would see a major restructure but I don't love the risk. I'm beginning to agree---what is she benefitting in modern right now? DnT? It's certainly not UW decks. Abzan...has some serious fundamental issues that is outdated in modern now. Abzan would still be a very bad deck.

By the way, GDS is a perfectly reasonable deck. People don't get this, but if you're a good player it's secretly quite good against Ux too.

    Good deck in general? Yes.

    Good in this meta? No.

    Good against UW? No.

    Secretly good against UW? No

Good at your local FNM because the UW players there are bad? YAS, QUEEN!

Nissa's Oath is so underwhelming and at 2 mana feels like a bad play. Something like Mirri's Guile at 1 would be fantastic, for example.

Sylvan Library (which absolutely won't happen).

Or some kind of DRS efficient threat. All I know is throwing more removal isn't what needs to be done. We have absolutely nothing to ensure flooding. Meanwhile, decks are getting leaner, running less lands, cantripping, or outright winning so quickly. Fair decks need some unfair element added to the mix.

What does everyone think of Wrenn and Six? Cut down to 23 land maybe, and run 2-3 of him? The retrace late game could be great if you have him on the field, pitch a land to cast a spell from grave, get the land back to play it for turn. Or do it the other way if you have no land to pitch, get a land then pitch it to cast a spell. Seems like he could be pretty decent. Biggest problem I see is there are already a lot of 2-drops that we want to play. Overall though, I see some potential in him.

I'm excited for this card as a 1 or 2 of. I think Jund players are dismissing it way too quickly. It's a grim lavamancer that creates CA advantage, a great ult, and pings away annoying creatures. For 2 mana. This should definitely be tested.

Is this DRS or LOTV? No. But "I think it warrants serious testing.

It's the first card in the set I've seen that's made me excited. I'm still not high on Force of Despair or Peatland until they prove otherwise.

It's extra funny that they included Diabolic Edict after printing a strictly better version in Liliana's Triumph.
People have been saying this but I honestly don't get it. What is funny about it? It is possible that they had decided on this inclusion before the design of Liliana's Triumph. Why is it a net negative or a ridiculous fact that they included Diabolic Edict? It still is an iconic card, it still was not legal for modern, maybe they didn't even know. So what?

This set was supposed to represent cards to be inserted into Modern that were too powerful for Standard. So it's at least a little head-scratchingly confusing to see Edict after they just introduced a strictly better version into Standard. It's another representation of disconnect at R&D.

You could have it worse. At least you're a blue player watching this set. Imagine how the midrange/shadow players feel so far watching all this.

Blue is legit the fair decks now, and GBx/Shadow feel like the stepchild now.

No joke, blue has so many exciting things now. I'm definitely happy for all these toys they got. I'm really not understanding the *****ing about counter spell. The archetype has honestly gotten a massive boon in the past two years.
