When Clone-turned-The-Scarab-God dies (assuming that permanent isn't a token), you still return the card it became in the graveyard to its owner's hand at the beginning of the next end step, no matter what card it is (C.R. 603.6c, 700.4; the words "it" and "its" on The Scarab God's last ability refer to that card regardless of its nature [C.R. 400.7h, 400.2]).
EDIT (Nov. 21): Note also that that Clone-turned-The-Scarab-God's last ability looks at the state of the game just before that permanent dies (C.R. 603.10a, 603.10), which is why that ability triggers at all.
EDIT (Feb. 18, 2020): Add rule citations. Minor edit.

Some of the high points of Jadine's article:Posted in: Midrange
- The 4 Confidant/3 BBE split is a response to her expecting more uninteractive decks, where Confidant helps you find your sideboard cards and your life total isn't as relevant. If you're expecting more creature decks and midrange/control, she still likes the 3 Bob/4 BBE.
- She's super high on Assassin's Trophy, and credits it with freeing up her sideboard enough to play as much anti-dredge hate as she did.
- Adding Assassin's Trophy lowered her curve a bit, so she felt comfortable going down to 24 lands. She wanted 3 Ravine and no Treetop because of a desire to cast Anger of the Gods consistently, but likes Treetop if you're expecting a lot of U/W control.
Beyond that, there's a lot of the great detailed analysis that makes her a Premium writer to begin with. It's definitely worth the full read. -

FlyingDelver posted a message on JundIf you guys are interested, I wrote a guide for building consistant manabases for GBx decks. Here you can see in detail how I do it and what I think about it. Lately people don't pay enough attention to this topic, and manabases are all over the place. If you are interested in being consistant, then I would advice reading this.Posted in: Midrange

In short, is LtLH almost always a one-of in Mainboard or is there benefit to considering upping her to x2 to attempt to "poor-mans" replace LoTV?
I think you're not asking the question the right way. Sure, they're both 3 mana Lilianas, but they do very different things. Liliana of the Veil fights opponents going tall while Liliana, the Last Hope fights opponents going wide. So if you run for example a 3/2 split you'll also want to adjust other cards in your deck. A second last Hope might mean less Pulse and more unconditional kill for example. -

MadMageQc posted a message on Priority - Lantern ControlPosted in: Magic Rulings
Yes, exactly.Quote from WarlockWarrior »I assume he can do this even though he had no response to the initial trigger of Kor Spiritdancer and also had no response to my fetch, because before anything resolves we need to go through both passes of priority, myself and then my opponent, yes?
Yes. After the the first activation of Shredder resolves, both players must get priority again before the next object on the stack (Spiritdancer's ability) resolves. The game doesn't let the topmost object on the stack resolve until all players have passed priority in succession, denying to do anything else in response to it.Quote from WarlockWarrior »Assuming yes, he mills it away and then up flips another good card, lets say a Stony Silence. Now, with the Kor Spiritdancer’s ability yet again still waiting to resolve he has priority again to activate another ability to mill this as well?
Many wouldn't consider that a rules question, but yeah, I guess so.I imagine this is just the power of the Lantern Control lock that I need to get used to?
Correct, you can't respond to those things, but you can respond to something else still on the stack after the game state has changed. The rules are designed to allow that.Quote from WarlockWarrior »At the time of the match I was (very likely mistakenly) convinced that: because my opponent said okay (passed priority) on the resolution of the Kor Spiritdancer draw and then again on the fetch land activation, that meant he has now given up his chance to respond to a new card flipping up. You can’t really respond to something like your top library card being revealed. (While we’re on that topic, you cannot respond to mana being tapped either, yes?)
Did what I (EDIT: And Natedogg) wrote above do the trick?Quote from WarlockWarrior »But now I am starting to realize that, because I activated that fetch he has a new chance at responding to Kor Spiritdancer’s draw trigger, simply because we must go through a round of “I pass priority, you now have it, what do you do?” for each item on the stack. Yep.I guess the question here is, can you explain to me how this situation should play out? Assuming I took the actions I described.
Please refrain from directly asking for strategy advice in this forum.Quote from WarlockWarrior »And then offer any advice on how to best play around that Lantern Control lock - (valid advice would include: “accept your fate that you are playing against Lantern Control and you have almost no out given the facts you described”)
The best answer I can give you from a strict rules standpoint is that your opponent's Codex Shredders can be activated any time they have priority. You can say the same about your one fetchland, but you can't say the same about casting an aura spell, which normally can only be done on an empty stack. -

Natedogg posted a message on Priority - Lantern ControlThe stack resolves one spell or ability at a time, not all at once. After each spell or ability resolves, everyone gets priority again before the next spell or ability resolves. So yes, your opponent gets priority after the fetchland ability resolves, before the Spiritdancer's trigger resolves, and based on what's on top of your library, can choose to use to the Codex to mill that top card before you would draw it. They can even use the second Codex after the first ability resolves and the next card is revealed to mill the new top card before you would draw it.Posted in: Magic Rulings -

Rezzahan posted a message on Revolt - Renegade RallierYes, you can do that. The Revolt condition of the Rallier is checked, when it enters the battlefield, so you have until then to fulfil that condition. A sacrifice in response to Seance's trigger will accomplish that.Posted in: Magic Rulings
Note, that there is no "at the end of the upkeep step", you are either in the upkeep step or you are not. The game will remain in the current step/phase until all players pass priority in succession while the stack is empty. Just because you want to end your upkeep step doesn't make it the end of that step, you are still right in the middle of it. -

SyntheticDreamer posted a message on Revolt - Renegade RallierYes, you can do that. The Sakura-Tribe Elder's "sacrifice" ability will resolve first before Séance's ability puts the Renegade Rallier token onto the battlefield. At the time the token is created, a permanent you control has left the battlefield this turn, so the Rallier token's Revolt ability will trigger.Posted in: Magic Rulings -

FoodChainGoblins posted a message on [Primer] G/W Auras (Bogle)I side out Spirit Link and Unflinching Courage. The games are attrition based, so life gain will rarely matter much. (Daybreak Coronet is just too many abilities to take out.) Then I take out 3 Spirit Mantle. Although it can be very strong, it is the slowest Aura per power and we usually don't need evasion outside Rancor. Then I usually take out 1 Kor Spiritdancer. I want to keep some of them to get card advantage back.Posted in: Aggro & Tempo
I could be approaching Rest in Peace incorrectly. I feel that the card is a must kill for Jund, so this makes it tough to save removal for Auras (Abrupt Decay). But it does indeed slow our plan down, so prolonging the game may not be the right thing. I've had Rest in Peace diminish 2 Tarmogoyfs before, but I've also had RIP and my opponent draws all of the removal and beats me with something random. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

Torpor Orb. Hushwing Gryff.
Containment Priest.EDIT: Be careful with Containment Priest since that obviously wrecks your own strategy with Kaalia!
Come to think of it, all 3 of those cards can be damaging to us too...
Outside of those 3 cards just remove Roon. If he is protecting Roon with hexproof or shroud then pack Arcane Lighthouse and/or Glaring Spotlight. I know it is difficult once Roon has multiple blink effects though, consider Sudden Death or similar split second options if that's the case.
It sucks to try to alter your whole deck just to beat your opponent - if you are trying to stick to Kaalia as it's laid out in this primer then do your best to attack his mana base with Armageddon or hit his creature board with Balefire Dragon.
Don't forget about Grand Abolisher and Defense Grid to help (doesn't solve the problem - but can be helpful)

I had been playing without Blinding Angel up to this point because I felt like I wasn't getting through with Flying as her only evasion and only 2 power. I may rethink her now.
Thank you for the advice on Ajani. I never thought to even remotely try for Ajani's ultimate, but if you are able to lock them up then why not, it certainly would force the concession.
Appreciate all the feedback and advice as my own Kaalia gets better and better.

Also, thank you for your advice in regards to Unexpectedly Absent. I never thought to use it on Kaalia to hide her temporarily.
In answer to ajprokos' question, yeah sure tutors always come up and someone is bound to search/shuffle their library, I have just found that I hold onto Unexpectedly Absent while waiting for that shuffle effect. Maybe I just need to play the card and deal with it.
Lastly, put up some more gameplay videos 3drinks. I wanna see her in action online.
