What I want to do is cast Corpse Dance with buyback (on Sheoldred, Whispering One) at the end of my opponent's turn so that I will still have Sheoldred, Whispering One on the field under my control when the beginning of my upkeep triggers. Can I do this at the end of an opponent's turn and keep Sheoldred, Whispering One from exile because most "end of turn" wording is erratad to "at the beginning of the end step"?
In a similar situation, can I Corpse DanceSheoldred, Whispering One at the end of my own turn so that I control her during my opponents upkeep to force him/her to sac a creature?
Can I also do this at the beginning of my upkeep or their upkeep to get the trigger or will that be too late because Sheoldred, Whispering One reads "at the beginning of your upkeep" and "opponent's upkeep". By the time I have priority at the beginning of a turn I have already surpassed the beginning of the upkeep, yes?
Assume I have a Hermit Druid on the field without summoning sickness.
I decide to play Magister of Worth. I know I can activate Hermit Druid's ability in response to the "will of the council" trigger, but I won't yet know how the vote is going to turn out (assume this is a game with 3 or more players).
My goal would be to play Magister of Worth and once I know that the votes have been tallied in favor of "grace" then I would activate Hermit Druid's ability to hit more creatures in my graveyard. I assume this is not possible because I cannot inject Hermit Druid's ability in the middle of "will of the council's" resolution. Yes?
Follow up question. Assume Saffi Eriksdotter is also under my control. If the vote turns out to be "condemnation" would I have had to have sacrificed Saffi in response to the vote trigger in order to save one of my other creatures?
My goal is to Corpse Dance my STE back from my yard, sac him to his own ability to get a land and return him as he dies with Nim Deathmantle. If I do this and keep him on the battlefield, will Corpse Dance's final sentence trigger and exile him? The ruling on Gatherer for Corpse Dance is: "Corpse Dance only exiles the card if the card is still on the battlefield at the beginning of the end step."
In a related question, say I play Puppeteer Clique to take an opponent's graveyarded creature. If I sacrifice this creature to some ability such as Ashnod's Altar - will it still exile at end of turn? If yes, why is it different from Corpse Dance's Gatherer ruling that says it will only exile if it remains on the battlefield? Despite the fact that the wording is nearly identical.
I also see absolutely no reason to run Red Elemental Blast and Pyroblast. Not every deck is blue.
Every meta is different. If you know you are going to play someone that isn't blue then obviously do what you gotta do. I have elected to keep both of these cards in my 1v1 Kaalia (possibly would in multi as well). I haven't adopted the Earnest Fellowship build yet for a couple of reasons, but having one of these two cards is always a godsend in my opening hand. My goal with them are protection from the tuck or counter of Kaalia, but I also use them to smoke enemy commanders such as Geist of Saint Traft and Roon of the Hidden Realm.
As to Surveyor's Scope, I need another 2 CMC rock, but I don't have fetches (yet - thank you Khans) so I don't use the scope.
I have an Overburden in play. I cast Thassa, God of the Sea - I have enough devotion (only including Thassa herself) to make Thassa a creature. Does Overburden trigger for me when I cast Thassa? Does it trigger when I don't have enough blue devotion to make her a creature?
How about if I have Pendrell Mists in play? Only pay 1 if I have 5 or more blue devotion?
Theres a new card called Nomad Outpost from KTK, it should come fairly cheap, though the comes into play tapped is an issue it may help with mana fixing
Whoa! Excellent! Thank you for pointing this guy out. This will help for sure.
Assume I just played Kaalia of the Vast with haste. I enter the declare attacker phase and declare Kaalia as an attacker. Kaalia's triggered ability goes on the stack to place a creature onto the battlefield. My opponent has a chance to respond, but doesn't yet know what I will drop. Since he doesn't know if I even will choose to place a creature, he does nothing and passes priority. I drop Iona, Shield of Emeria onto the battlefield. After he sees that he can no longer play spells of the color I choose, he decides he wants to play a spell of the color I picked. Is Iona's ability triggered? Does my choice of a color and/or the clause "your opponent's can't cast spells of the chosen color" go on the stack to be responded to, or did my opponent forfeit his chance to play that spell because he passed priority when Kaalia's trigger placed Iona to the battlefield?
Thanks man. Liliana of the Veil has absolutely shut down my opponents Voltron style deck which didn't require any strategy. Simply cast Liliana, -2 and win, since he'll never recover without killing her.
I had been playing without Blinding Angel up to this point because I felt like I wasn't getting through with Flying as her only evasion and only 2 power. I may rethink her now.
Thank you for the advice on Ajani. I never thought to even remotely try for Ajani's ultimate, but if you are able to lock them up then why not, it certainly would force the concession.
Appreciate all the feedback and advice as my own Kaalia gets better and better.
What would happen if I cast Return to Dust on my main phase and cast Reverberate to copy it? The copy is not "cast" it just appears on the stack, yes? If so, would that mean that the second sentence on Return to Dust would not apply, because I am not "casting" the copy created by Reverberate?
Reflecting Pool I bought on the spot when I heard the suggestion and saw it's price, so that will help out!
Here's another question unrelated to manabase:
What is your usual method/strategy when you play Ajani and Liliana? If they are in your opening hand do you try to get them out and disrupt anything that you can (even when you have no creatures on the board to serve as blockers for them) or do you try to protect them?
Does Liliana come out and usually start by forcing opponent to sac to protect herself?
Do you hit lands with Ajani's first ability to slow them even if it means Ajani will likely die to their next creature swing?
I didn't consider Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth to fix my black. Vesuva, I feel, is a bit pricey to come into play tapped - if it were under 5 dollars I might bite. Mana Confluence I need badly, price is a bit high, but it's exactly what I want. I wonder if this price will drop when it leaves standard?
I didn't consider going back to the Chromatic Lantern. I like it a lot in my slower decks. I respect 3drinks opinion of it, but my deck may be casual enough that it can afford to slow down a step to fix my colors --- but I don't want to go overboard with that philosophy and start running Vivid Marsh and the other into-play-tapped friends.
Thank you! I never thought to use the Scope in conjunction with Fetch or the junky Evolving/Terra's. That at least explains why it's in there. Sadly, without fetches I'm not sure I can make good use of it. Maybe I go with Charcoal Diamond or something similar instead?
Either that or try to run Evolving and Terra, but I'm not sure that's smart.

Somewhat related question:
I cast Goblin Guide. My opponent Counterspell's it. Can I Reverberate their Counterspell and then counter their counter with it?

Also thanks for the tip on Shadowblood Ridge.
