Grixis Delver/Control/Shadow are favorable matchups. Control might be a little bit harder. I play Delver and Soul Sisters is great against it. Grixis has no way to deal with Honor of the Pure besides Engineered Explosives. It obviously has a difficult time dealing with flyers.
Haha, people always think that Soul Sisters is a janky deck.
Note: I got rid of all my Soul Sisters pieces yesterday. Traded all my deck for modern staples. I also screwed up because I sold all my Rangers of Eos from Alara at the price of the new MM17 Ranger... could've gotten a little bit more from the trade.
Hey guys, I was wondering what are the archetypes in your cubes ? (Blink, Sacrifice, Counters, Populate, Reanimate, etc...)
I'm at a point where I'm thinking about building archetypes in my casual cube, so I'd like to check all the cubes that contain various archetypes! Thanks
As for Electrolyze... I'm mostly trying to address Lingering Souls and Affinity. As I mentioned in the article, one of the major draws to Delver is how comprehensively it crushes Affinity, and I intended to reinforce that as much as possible. I also want as much face burn as I can pack in the maindeck to have reach against Death's Shadow. It's been pretty good to me in testing.
I play two Electrolyze too. It does seem slow in a couple of matchups, but overall, the card is great against midrange/control, which I see a ton lately on Cockatrice, especially Abzan.
Now that I think about it, with Crumble to Dust that I'm trying out, maybe it's better to stay at 20 lands for now.
Tested Crumble against Eldrazi Tron and didn't like it. It's too slow and doesn't wreck them as much as classic Tron because of E.Temple.
I wonder if it's a fine choice against classic Tron or Valakut. With so much Eldrazi running around I think Fulminator Mage or Molten Rain(my choice right now) might be better.
From my experience, Crumble is decent against Valakut. Once it hits that volcano, it's gone and you just play fair Magic against Primeval Titan and Obstinate Baloth.
Now for classic Tron, it's 50/50. Eldrazi Tron, it's probably terrible.
Anyone been playing 19 lands ? I went up to 20 lands after the Probe-ban... and I get flooded quite a lot! I don't know if I should go back down. I still have D-Lighthouse in my sideboard to go up to 20 when I need too. Any thoughts?
It's the latest in a long line of anti-land cards that I've been playing. Blood Moon screws our mana too much, Molten Rain is mana intensive and slow and Fulminator Mage is also slow. So far I've been fairly impressed with Ghost Quarter, since you can also bring it in against control as an extra land and a way to kill man lands.
It's also an instant speed, 0CMC way to screw with Tron and Scapeshift if you also have Surgical.
Overall I think it's good.
The only thing that prevents me from playing the card is the fact that it sucks having one land with Ghost Quarter in your opening hand (having 2 landers in your opening hand happens frequently with Grixis Delver). You lose a land and then you're also stuck with one mana for a while.
Went to yesterday's FNM, ended up going 1-2. Won against Budget UR Prowess (1-2), loss against GW Tron (1-2) and Abzan (1-2).
Been playing the deck for 3 months now, I realized that still haven't quite mastered the deck. In fact, I think I'm a terrible Grixis Delver player. My current record with the deck is 17-27 (45 games), which is 38% win percentage.
Any tips on how to improve? I know practice makes perfect, and trust me, I practice a lot.
Things that I still struggle with:
- When to fetch and when to shock. I feel like I'm too conservative with my life.
- Using Snap/Serum more often.
- Using Snap too early, instead of keeping it for as long as possible.
My meta looks very midrangey: Abzan, Grixis Delver, Mardu Control, Jeskai Control, Jund, Bushwhacker Zoo, Skred Red...

If you compare it to my Soul Sisters W% (60%), it's better than Delver (But for real, I'm still learning to play the deck haha, its so hard to pilot)
Glad to see a little more action here !
