Hey fellow folks, been a while since I posted, but will keep it short and sweet.

What are peoples opinions on trying out Nimble Obstructionist in the deck as a potential combo beater. I know it's not particularly amazing at the minute, but it could be good if the meta shifts.

3 mana for a 3/1 flyer with Flash (same as clique, only needs 1 U) but obviously don't get the hand disrupt, or 3 mana for the trigger part of Disallow and draw a card. Anyway, yeah, just been thinking about it since I got a couple in release day draft. Let me know what you think. (:

I often feel like I randomly want to Jam a Cryptic Command in to my deck to catch people off guard (Perhaps running it over a MoW or one of the normal Spell Pierce/etc slots) I remember when I was first picking up Merfolk seeing a couple of lists run it as a one-off, but now I hardly see it. Is this just because of the way the metagame has changed, or do we just have access to better tools now?

I'm half tempted to try it at one of my LGS becuase everyone there runs interesting decks so it could be worth trying.

Just a pointer, when you played against infect, you didn't need to play Echoing Truth first to get him to re-direct to Skite. Because Harbinger must target a TAPPED creature, Skite can't re-direct it unless he himself is tapped, as he is an illegal target. Good going though, and gratz on nearly making top 32. (:

Have to admit, I'm currently playing around with Simon ****sky's list from GPLA. I like the little one offs of Tidebinder and Relic main board. I'd like to get Harbinger in to the build somewhere but we'll see how it goes. I've also been playing around with the idea of sleeving up a Sea-Gate wreckage. I really like it in the Legacy version of Fish, and I think it could be a great way to win top-deck wars in Modern, but I'm less convinced because I think we draw more in Modern anyway (Legacy lists obviously not playing cards like Spreading Seas and dropping more cards to Force.)

But oh well. It's something I'll try. Also thinking about trying Warping Wails as a good answer to some X/1s that exist in the format and stopping Living End (Apparently everyone plays Living End at my local, so having mained Relic is great. I have now stuck two Chalice in side as well, that screws with them.)

Anyway, let me know what you guys think. (:

Not sure if I should feel good about it, but I managed to 2-0 Elves the other day.

Game 1 we had a bit of a brawl, after some handy tempo plays I managed to delay him getting to his big threats enough that I eventually won.

Game 2 I opened literally all my sidebboard pieces that wrecked him and just kept him off doing anything.

This was Round 1 of an Open in England, I couldn't quite believe it. XD

Anybody else notice how the value of all our Merfolk decks is slowly climbing?

Thanks, Eldrazi. That's the only thing I like about you. You make my deck more value. XD

As for the 8 Seas debate, I've been heavily playing Modern all week at tournaments, I started at 8 Seas, I'm now down to 5. I find against decks like Kiki-Chord it's not so relevant, that or I'm hitting the wrong lands. XD

Could it be a possibility to run our old friend Cryptic Command in this new meta? Everything big in the format (UrzaTron, Eldrazi, Etc) seems to be slower and that makes Cryptic more viable and more devastating. Think I may have to test it in my current build some.

So guys, what cards from Oath of the Gatewatch do you think we can use? (:

Already picked up 3 (4th pending) Warping Wail and am trying to get some Matter Reshapers (Think I read a post about someone trying these over MoW to be more aggressive or something?)

    Anyway, what are your thoughts?

So I was just walking home from work and doing some thinking.
And then after checking my facts, I was right.

We have an incredibly powerful tool against Tron and Eldrazi this format thanks to Harbinger of the Tides. Unless they find a way to tap the Spellskite protecting their large creatures, we can bounce them with Harbinger, as Spellskite wouldn't be a legal target. Just thought I'd throw that one in there. Hey guys, coming at you with a new deck list for the new format.

Looking for thoughts as I'm preparing for a GPT that's coming up but don't have an amazing amount of testing time so could do with advice/discussion.

I'm looking to be really quick out the gates with this build, keeping in Spell Pierce and Vapor Snag for Tempo plays when needed. I was looking heavily at Dismember but I feel that the way this format is going with Tron and Eldrazi gaining popularity that Dismember will become less effective as a late-game draw, whereas Vapor Snag /could/ buy us a turn.

Echoing Truth is replaceable but I'm not sure what else to really put in currently. Remands I may possibly switch to Negate.

Anyway, yeah, please discuss and help me bring the GPT crown home to Atlantis! (:

Your list is really similar to the one I'm currently running (I run 2 Harbinger/2 Image and -1 Island +1 Dismember main deck). I've been a big echoing truth fan for a while, and I might switch out my dismember for it again, especially with Lantern Control being popular in my area (I can bounce multiple artifacts to be able to swing through ensnaring bridge) and being able to bounce multiple creatures against Affinity.

I really love Negate over Remand because there are very few times I need a time walk (remand) and much more often I do not want them to cast something (Karn, Oblivion Stone, Scapeshift, etc). I would also up your Chalice count to 3 to increase the likelihood you draw them.

I currently only have 2 Chalice at the moment, and getting a third will be highly unlikely by that point. Negate over Remand seems solid, but I'll be testing it out over this coming few days. Thanks for your input. (:

On the subject of Hurkyl's Recall, I do like having it in board just because Lantern Control is slowly but surely becoming a thing as well, and it deals with that deck. I don't think they actually have a specific out that can stop Recall, and we can procede to win off of one or two mighty swings. Otherwise Chalice is better, as it's a catch all against quite a lot of low mana decks. But that's just my thought process.

    Hey guys, me again. Dx

Got a Modern GPT coming up in a couple of weeks. My deck choices are Living End or Merfolk. So naturally I'm going with the best choice and going Fish. :p

Anyhow, I'm currently sitting here mulling over my main/sideboard configuration for the event. I'd really like to do well at this GPT as the GP it's for is actually relevant in my calendar this year.
So anyhow, my problem is that I can't decide on the last card for my sideboard. I'm also stuck between whether or nor to drop a land to mainboard either a Kira, Great Glass Spinner or Phantasmal Image. Anyway, here's the current listl

The 15th slot in my sideboard is currently being place-holdered by a Kira, Great Glass Spinner, but I'm not sure wether I want to keep her or not. Also Hibernations are debatable, but I do like keepung them sided for some of the rogue Green decks that plague my meta.

Anyeay, thoughts and the like Chaps and Chappeses. Thanks in Advance. (:
