I have an Ur Dragon deck and being in 5 colors does open you up to play the best removal in the game. However being 5 colors what they are and dragons being greedy on mana (lots of red) that must be accounted for in your deck. I must say that I do not like primal command and mystic confluence for the deck. Double blue feels very hard and primal command doesnt do enough I feel. You can run utter end as its only 4 mana and exile any card. I do like tremurs for the deck and I would run at least one other red spell that deals x damage to non flyers (earthquake for example)as I have found with all the ramp to get the dragons out sometimes you dont have much to do on turns and board wipes that set everyone else back but leave you fine are great. Living death is another great one and I would keep it. A lot of the time you getting back 5-7 dragons is much bigger than them getting a few smaller guys back.

    Hello all,

so I have been wanting to brew a deck around Shalai, voice of plenty but I have a problem. I have never made a GW deck before and none on my decks have thoese colors together in them so I am kinda stuck in the design phase of the deck. I know GW is great at tokens and enchantress but how do I get there? I know you run all the doubling enchantments but after that I am lost (I have never made a token deck either). Do I just run a bunch of dorks to ramp hard then drop a token maker and then profit? Just a clueless brewing needing some advice or pointers on where to go and what to look for in GW.

Hello Planes just let you know small fan of your videos here but on the topic at hand...

One huge way I have found that helps me a ton is to ask someone about the deck that is not from my local meta or is super experience with the deck what they think and their input on it. I have found that a fresh set of eyes to look over your choices objectively can really help improve your decks and deck building. To many times you can get hung up on a card that won you a game that one time even if there are better/ more flavor options out there. They can also inform you of cards you didn't know about to try out as well (commander has some thing like over 10,000 cards in it you can use from there are some gems in there you might not know about).

  • posted a message on Hypergenises how much beef do you run?!
@JDviant I was looking to run it in a Yidris deck as the cascade could help me hit it more often so I would be in not white.

@DirkGently that's actually not a bad/funny idea that might be worth testing.

@darrenhabib I though about running a Grozoth in there as he just let you fill then dump your hand off of a hyper but in not white I feel like there a few to many good one that I would want to run. How was the early game for your deck? what did you do most of the time on turns 1-4?

I have been working on a hypergenises deck list for edh and I have run into a question that most of the players I know can't answer and that is how many big bombs (aka beef) do you run in the deck? You clearly want enough to be able to place more on the battlefield than your opponents (or just better ones) so do you just jam as much as you can and just leave the mana curve by the wayside as you load up with huge casting cost things?

Trying embrace the chaos is kinda hard

  • posted a message on Forget precons, Yasova needs help
SO Yasova was the 2nd deck I ever made and still one of my favorite decks to play. Some tech I use is:

o-naginatagets her to that awesome 7 power and can be grabbed with trinket mage.

stitcher graftalso cost one mana and gets her to the 7 power mark the untap trigger is not a problem as I run extra combat uptap effects but she doesn't have to attack to steal a dude and in a pinch can act like a sac outlet.

empyrial plateI run greater good as a sac outlet and let me just say that makes this card nuts. Steal something big and grow Yasova even bigger.

chamber of manipulationsweet steal effect also really good if you run greater good.

synod sanctumcost 1 mana so you can grab it with a trinket mage and it lets you keep what you put in there and also regain any etb effects from them.

dominating licidyeah old cards are weird and do crazy stuff

Have any of you had any luck with him yet? I find cards that trigger him to easy to find and cast but without the count the just tend to be jank in its pure form.

Pairing the partner commanders Tana and Ravos give you access to four colors and both a token generator and token pumper in the command zone. They have a ton of synergy together, and let you run all the best token generators and pumps. It's fun if you want a giant token army rather than use tokens to combo.

Teysa is a great token commander that lets you have access to token based combo as well as use tokens to generate value via sacrifice.

I have always wanted to see a Tana and Ravos or Tana and Tyma token deck in action. Its in all the right colors you have like all the options to chose from with them.

@greywyn I have been messing around with cubetutor the interface feels a bit wonky but thats mainly cause I am not used to it yet and I need to play around with it more. I have also seen the profs videos all on cubes so far lots of info in there gonna have to watch them a few times to get the hang of it all.

@Salmo wow you where not kidding that thing is hecka long. I am still reading/rereading sections of it and its been a very helpful guide so far. I am thinking I need to find a cube I like to start as my base and then stick to singleton rule 360 card cube of the plane and themes I like then see what works and what doesn't and then improve it from there.

    Hello all,

So my wife and I have thought he lets make a cube why not drafting is tons of fun. Her favorite plane is Innistrad so while she didn't say it I know thats the one she would like to make first for sure but after that I have no clue where to go from there. There is so much info out there and it all feels like a ton that I have no clue where to start at other than we have the theme/plane its set on down. I know that Size of the cube matter for a lot of people and I hear/ read that you should have a split of 3/2/1 for rarity but do you have to? Can a single of each card be just as good or does that make it a completely different type of cube? Any help anyone can toss my way would be hugely appreciated.

My all time fav is Reins of Power it can be such a tricky card. It has its face use as steal someones board and kill them with it but it can also be used to safe your own. Overloaded rift at the end of turn swap your army for these and watch as they see their army poof away and yours gets to stay. Plagewind not so fast sir/lady here you have my guys and I will take yours in response.

Doesn't Ugin's Nexus keep you from getting the extra turns too? While I like the Alter of the Brood there are a few self mill decks here and I will never be able to deck them with that card (old school titans keep them safe). Thats a lot of activated abilities there too maybe some illusionist bracers would be worth a try too? I would like to fit a paradox engine in the deck too but I don't think it will really end up helping it out.

If you make a single nexus the first is sacked to legendary. With the extra turn trigger on the stack you sac the other to whatever sac outlets you have and get the second. I'm not sure about doing multiples, its too early for that but I think it would work.

Also I have no idea how I forgot about Marionette Master. Just killed a table with her last night. XD

Edit: as for Bracers its worth a try. You're doubling everything else, so why not? :p

Ah I hadn't thought about blowing it up in response to get double the turns. It might be worth thinking about but I am not to hot on it still.

Right with bracers we can double everything. Maybe that opens up being able to use Feldon in the deck too

I agree with Atarka or any other kinds of all in sideways deck (elf ball is another good one) as you only need to know the base rules and then turn them side ways.

  • posted a message on Breya's Mirrorworks Masterworks
@Gmtrick wow thats was a lot of info so lets break this down.

    1. Ramp I am currently running 10 of them yes would you run more? What is the max you would run? The problem I am having currently with my ramp is that most of it is colorless and that stonewalls me a lot as I really need that colored mana and I just don't have it.

    2. Interaction: While it is true I run only 3 counter spells I also run 2 board wipes and 3 other ways to interact with anything (unmaking, chaos warp, and vindicate) and muddle the mixture doubles as a tutor to go grab anything 2 cmc if I don't need it. I may have to drop counterflux as its kinda tough on the color cost right now but I have never been sad to see it in my hand (a few storm decks in my area so it really helps to have a silver bullet).

3 + 4: Individual Cards: Paradox Engine is not in the deck currently as I feel like I can't really take full advantage of it. I don't run a lot of stuff to chain together but with all the tap effects in the deck it might be worth testing for it. Sphinx of the Steel Wind is just a big beater that is a bit of a let over from this focused more on bringing things back from the graveyard I can safely cut it and not worry about it. Combustible Gearhulk does put in work (I have had a few people I play with take the dmg and when they take 17+ in one shot they always give me the cards) or he tosses stuff in the yard for me to get back. Maybe I should side line him for a bit and test something new in its place.

Planeswalkers: I don't ever plan on letting them stay for more than one use most of the time. That said they are all great except for Tezz agent of bolas as every time hes in play or I can cast him I want to have something else. The +1 can only net one card (not good for 4 mana) and the make an artifact a base 5/5 doesn't really matter much. He will be cut for sure.

Good points on skullclamp some games its gas but other I dunno. I really tend to use it as a draw outlet more than anything else.

    5. Recommendations:

-Deadeye Navigator: I for now am gonna have to pass on him. The needing to use blue mana with him is a real cost and Eldrazi Displacer is never to hard to turn on with all the colorless artifacts floating around (also with Ironworks just goes infinite with breya on the field).
-Prototype Portal: I have one sitting in my binder that I am not using and well it makes tokens and lets me use ETBs more than one. Heck if anything I can put an artifact land in it and make extra lands ever turn.
-Illusionist's Braces:I want to find room for this things for sure I didn't even notice all the tap abilities in the deck till I listed it up and it just seams like great value.
-Enlightened Tutor: Just wasn't in the deck as I already had so many way to tutor to hand/in play that putting one top of the library doesn't seem as good.
-I really want to find room for Marionette Master and Saheeli's Artistry as both seem really good and fit the theme of the deck I am going for.
For now I will have to pass on Jor Kadeen and Training Grounds I feel like they don't do as much for my deck as some other and for Jor Kadeen if dies/gets tossed into the yard I don't have much of a way to get him back.

What do you think about adding in volrath's stronghold to the deck as another land way to get creatures back to the top of the library
