This might be a bit late in the conversation, but I just started reading it.

I've definitely wanted to try splashing black into the Enchantress build. There are a few, maybe janky, combos you can pull off, that I think were missed. Feel free to smack down.

Darkest Hour + Elephant Grass = No creatures attack you. Also, Darkest Hour is a single black which is a nice bonus.

Bitterblossom to make tokens consistently, though slower than the usual win cons.

Phyrexian Arena, since it triggers on upkeep, you could stack the triggers with Solitary Confinement to guarantee getting at least something new.

There is probably a few others that could be interesting. Seal of Doom would be helpful. I haven't played this deck in years but excited about Oath of Nissa and Vessel of Nascency bringing it more into the meta.

I might just have to sleeve something up and give it a try at a weekly tourney.

So, I got to try out Bridge from Below in the Dredgevine deck at FNM as show above. I honestly really really like it. I unfortunately only really got to utilize it in one match and ended up siding it out against decks that I knew were going to have a lot of creatures dying on both sides of the board. It was super useful though to make blockers out of Bloodghast. I was playing against GW Hatebears, he swings in with 13 power worth of creatures, I eat two Bloodghasts, get four zombies, crack a fetch, landfall, eat, get four more, then block everything and blow his board out. Yeah, I lost my Bridges, but well worth it at that point. If I was attacking with my creatures, I would just eat them before damage to not kill his and get zombies. I'm not saying its 100% should be in the deck, but I'm definitely not saying it doesn't have a possible spot. I went 2-2 at FNM with it, winning against Hatebears and Nivix Combo deck. Lost to Infect and BU Faries (though honestly, I should of won the round but misread Ashiok's CC) As for changes, I will probably change out the Mountain for another Blood Crypt or Blackcleave Cliffs. The Life from the Loam will come out for a Darkblast. And I will possibly drop the Tormenting Voice, though I need to see it used more before I do that. A question though, how often do you guys find yourselves actually casting Golgari Grave-troll? I find it to be very rarely.

I was testing for a No-Banned List Modern Tournament with Dredge and had to look deep for some cards that seemed good in the deck. It's where I started to think about Bridge from Below.

But I stumbled upon two cards that I thought were pretty good, Tormenting Voice and Dangerous Wager. I really have liked Tormenting Voice since you get to discard first, then draw. So pitch GGT and start dredging immediately and gives you the potential to run through 12 cards of the deck. I tried Thought Scour and did not like it. It was only really useful on Turn 1 and only if it hit a dredger in the mill part. I also have had people suggest me Burning Inquiry for card draw, but the discard being random tends to screw me over.

Also, I'm sure this might of been thought of, but if it hasn't, I've seen Legacy decks using Phantasmagorian to get Dredgers back into their graveyard, though I guess we have Lotleth Troll for that.

I can agree to those opinions, but might give it a shot. Probably will go with Viscera Seer instead of Nantuko Husk, was only using the Husk cause he was a zombie.

As for the zombies needing haste, my thought was eating all my recurrable guys at the end of my opponent's turn, start turn, cast two creatures, swing Vengevines and zombies.

Last FNM, I played against 3 Tron decks and an Infect deck, so I think the Bridge from Below would have more effect against the Tron decks.

Yea, something like Carrion Feeder would be awesome for the deck.

Hey everyone. So I'm still tinkering with the deck though no good finishes yet to be said for it. I was kinda distracted by a different format last weekend. I was wondering what people's thoughts on Bridge from Below and Nantuko Husk? It may be too cute for it to be super good, but it gives you a loop of zombies with eating Gravecralwer and then casting them again. Also, Bridge from Below helps make the deck more resilience to Damnation and Ugin if new zombie tokens are in place to recast Gravecraler and trigger Vengevines. Also, in a pinch, you can cast a Gravecralwer from the graveyard, eat it with Husk, then recast it again to trigger Vengevine. I might give it a go with more dredge and card draw instead of Grisly Salvage. So, too cute to work?

So a little tournament report from this weekend. Played in a local Open Trial with 12 people and 5 rounds with a break to Top 4, unfortunately, I did not make it up to Top 4, I actually got there late and started off....

0-1: Spent to much time eating breakfast and a wreck blocked the street. Still can make Top 8 for prizes.

0-2: Mardu Weenie?: At first it wasn't so scary. He dropped Squadron Hawk and Blade Splicer. I only hit an Abrupt Decay and didn't get to go full nuts. Sorin, Visitor came down and Sword of Feast and Famine, and it started go down hill. Second Sword of F&F and a Mirran Crusader finished it off. Game 2, Mirran Crusader and Ajani Steadfast made the game go quick. Final thoughts: Mirran Crusader is kinda a problem since nothing kills it in the current build.

1-2: UW Control: This I knew going in that I had a really good chance for winning. He was going for a slower lock and I knew my creatures weren't going to be stopped. I got the explosive dredges and a ton of zombies and vines made quick work. Game 2 was even better since I could keep the Lolteth Troll on the board with regeneration, so that even if he Supreme Verdict'ed, I could regenerate through it and cast two Gravecrawlers and bring everything back.

1-3: Jund: We played a little bit between rounds and this was shaping up to be a really good matchup for me. Game 1, he hit me with a turn 1 IoK and pulled my Faithless Looting and it threw the whole game out of wack for me and ended up losing. Game 2 was the reverse on the play, Faithless Looting turn 1, Grisly Salvage turn 2, had to hold off with Gnaw to the Bone so I could get the second black source I needed to go all out and overrun him.
Game 3, I mull to 4. Looking at an okay hand with Blood Crypt, Grisly Salvage, Grave-troll, and Vengevine. I rip a Faithless off the top, draw into more B/R sources and go nowhere. He had a slow hand too and I was setting up to stall with Gnaw to the Bone, Raven's Crime and Life from the Loam, but never saw the green source.

    2-3: Bye. Crud.

I went in kinda blind with the deck without playing against real people due to missing FNM last night and Game Night on Wednesday. Overall, I really like the deck, it is super resiliant in Modern and can just explode, get destroyed and explode again. Maybe some of the random 1 ofs were not right and might need some tweaking, but the overall core of the deck is solid. A suggestion that was made to me was playing a Flayer of the Hatebound or two either 1-1 in main and side. I think it has some consideration since it can really put the pain with Bloodghast, Gravecrawler, and Vengevine coming back so many times.

In other news, am I the only Dredgevine player that is incredibly angry with the new Commander set? Like seriously. Why is it WotC doesn't make the new cards in these sets Modern legal as well as Legacy/Vintage legal? It would enable them to print some powerful cards for Modern without them having to worry about them having to go through Standard. The reason I bring this up is Scourge of Nel Toth. Screw Gurmag Angler, this dragon is your giant zombie of choice now! But sadly no. This thing isn't Modern legal, and I want to smack WotC for teasing me like this.

Glad to have you back. To answer your question, I think not making Commander-Sets Modern legal enables WotC to print some really bonkers cards, and in the end that's what everyone loves about the archetype. If you have to consider for every card in every new set not only how it fits into the current format, but also how another, completely different one will react to it you will probably end up with something that feels very awkward and clunky. That said, I agree with you wholeheartedly. I'd smash the Scourge in my deck this very instant if I was allowed to...

Also, I think the thing is that they can't make certain cards legal in a set, or at least don't to avoid huge banned lists, which is what they would have to do if they made cards legal from the Commander sets. Or imagine Modern with Sol Ring in it.

So, I'm playing in a local Open Trial this weekend and going with Dredgevine at multiple people's suggestions. I will make sure to try and remember what happens and make a write up for it. I'm kinda going along the lines of the Jund Aggroy build but with a few different spells, but would definitely like opinions on it.
    Here it is:

I was thinking of switching the Grave-trolls for Stinkweed Imp since he makes for an easy casting blocker. Also, the sideboard, I have no idea in the end. I, also, cannot decide between Grisly Salvage or Saytr Wayfinder. I feel like the instant speed is better than the body?

Oh, no worries on the pitch. Dredge is one of the mechanics I've been wanting to play for a long time in Legacy. I'm probably gonna give your list a shot with all the zombies. Darkblast is super good in my local meta cause it mows down Snapcasters and Infect creatures. I might fiddle around with the flex slots and some of the creatures and throw in some other craziness, at least a Raven's Crime. How does it fair with only one Life from the Loam?

Gotcha. I was thinking of adding more Dredge to LoamPox since I don't see a ton of graveyard based decks at my LGS. Though I might give this a try if this is considered the better of the two. It just feels strange not to see some of the cards from LoamPox like Raven's Crime or Flamejab, or more land destruction like Ghost Quarter or Tectonic Edge. And I just enjoy Smallpox with Bloodghast and probably more so with Gravecrawler.
Also, I was looking on Youtube for more Dredge Modern playing and saw one that was more of a reanimator style with Unburial Rites and fatties like Iona and Elesh Norn.

Hello! I'm starting take interest and always wanted to play a Dredge deck since I always have a love for playing goofy graveyard decks. I have been playing some of the BW Pox decks and really enjoy Smallpox and was wondering if there was any way to fit it into this style of deck? I saw the Loam Pox deck thread but I think I'd rather play with a bit more Dredge than just Life from the Loam. Any suggestions/thoughts?

Mortify is another real option if you are looking for versatility. Utter end hits PW though and that can be very relevant against Tron. Typically Tron can't handle the speed of the combo but its not always a bad idea to have a back up plan.

I saw Mortify but thinking of trying Utter End instead because it also hits artifacts as well as planeswalkers, so it can hit Grafdigger's Cage, which can be pesky for the deck, or at least my version since there is a lot of graveyard shenanigans.

I don't see the benefit of Kalastria Healer since it only triggers on Allies, though that might just be my version with almost no allies.
I also don't like Atheros in the deck since it actually doesn't work well with Bloodghast or Geralf's Messenger, since it is better for them to let it go to my hand.

I am also thinking of adding some more token generation to add a constant creature generation with either Bitterblossom and Sorin, Lord of Innistrad since it will give me creatures on slow turns.

Hey guys, How again do we not die horribly to a side-boarded Leyline of the Void or Rest in Peace? since they are replacement effects and both blood artist and cutthroat resolve on creatures hitting graveyards, kinda like legacy/vintage helm of obedience combo. since i am seeing sideboards without enchantment removal.

I played a few games against Grafdigger's Cage and a friendly game against Leyline of the Void and you kinda just power through it. It is super rough and I probably should have more enchantment removal in my list, at least in the sideboard. Tidehollows can grab them, but I agree that I should have something more reliable. I was thinking of adding one or two copies of Utter End, but there might be something quicker that I don't know about.

    Hello everyone!

I have been following this thread for the past month wanting a new deck to play in Modern and really like this one since I've always been a fan of graveyard shenanigans and a lot of the creatures played in these decks are my favorites from past standards. I seem to do this a bit different than everyone else though, so I figured I'd put my deck list up for judgement. I originally was going to go Mardu but slowly phased out the Red the more I tested it. I've played it in two small local tournaments now and have gotten 2-1 and 3-1 to it, losing only to control and burn (and I didn't have Leyline of Sanctity at the time.) I still feel like the deck needs some tweaking but not sure what or where.

    Here it is:

Like I said before, I lost to RW Burn, and Esper Control. I've won against RG Tron, Laterns, Mardu Tokens, Boggle.

Thank you for any advice and I'll answer any questions I can.
