For the longest time... years.... I've been trying to figure out "how do I get card draw in Goblins?"
It seems to be the holy grail, if we could suddenly draw a few more cards on turn 3-4, instead of being empty handed and out of answers, it would turn this deck around.
Regarding card draw in goblins, the closest thing I've manage to make work is 2 copies of Faithless Loothing, but it's still far from optimal.
It is slow, and extremly clumky. It's just a little instant-win combo that a Goblins deck could add to the deck without to much trouble.
The bad thing about this is that the card required for the combo dosen't work out very well with the rest of the deck.
I'm just gonna say this.... With Skirk Prospector being now Modern Legal, we have gained access to an infint damage combo using only goblins. I mean, Metallic Mimic and Murderous Redcap are all Goblins
In celebration of Goblin Warchief becoming legal in Modern, need to ask: Does his reduction cost effect works on the surge cost of Reckless Bushwhacker???
Usually my meta don't use basics, so I've never had trouble with Path to exile and Harsh Mentor. having the Mentor and Thalia in main allows me to stop game one almost every deck. Lightning Helix is expensive, for a removal, I preffer having 2 one mana removal than only one. And what would you use insted of the Soldier? Or should I keep using the Inspector?
Greetings!!!! I have a question, hope for some answers.
Currently, I'm running an aggro Boros Humans list, the deck runs quite well, but there is one card I can't make my mind. Thraben Inspector has been great: the extra card from the clue as allowed me to win more than once. It also blocks well, especially afer one or two Thalia's Lieutenant, but this is not a deck to block. I've consider to swap it for Soldier of the pantheon, since it's a Lion with a mayor upside.
Currently testing the Metallic Mimic in aggro list. As a 4 of, it became a much slower lord, useful for long games, but pretty useless if you want to archive turn 3/4 kills. Maybe as a 2 or 3 of.
Other than that, it dosen't combo well with CoCo, so I would only recommend it if you don't play green at all.
So, a new CMC2 lord for humans??? This sure seems a good card for aggro decks. The question stills, what to cut for it???? Assuming we'll use it as a 4 of.
My Boros aggro list would end up something like this:
Strange to see you lose against Tron... The only card they play against us is Pyroclasm, wich is devasteting. But this tends to be a excellent match up for a 8Wacck list, in my experience.
I run a more "traditional" 8whack list with just 18 land and never had troubles. But if you have the fetches, then by all means, use them, 10 if it's possible would be optimal, even allowing you to splash for some answer.
Against Grixis, the best option is by far Blood Moon, or if you have the fetches, you could go all the way with Boom//Burst combo.
Warren Instigator will never be as good as good old Lackey. For this deck, there's too much diference between CMC 1 or 2. Sadly, Goblins in modern can't go for a long game. Usually, if I didn't kill my oponet by turn 6, I already asume I'm gonna lose.
And I agree completly, G.Guide is not as efficient as we would like. Normaly, FSD is able to do more damage to the oponent than Goblin Guide. But it is still true than he is one of the most agressive creatures ever printed. If we could have acces to another 1CMC goblin with haste and some relevant hability, I'll use it any time. But we dont.
I'm not saying that double strike isn't a good advantage. But it's true that if our opponent removes the paladin after designed blocker, mid combat, it's not gonna end well for us.
That being said, it's true that having to much 3CMC could be devasteting for this kind of deck. Maybe adding Aether Vial could help to have more consistency with our drops??? Paladin En-Vec is always a good chose, since he dodges a so much removal, and is pretty much exangeable with Mirran Crusader for the spot.
Dissagre. The humans tribe it's more than capable of dealing heavy damage to any oponent. If you check the blitz humans deck, you'll found decks with a consistent turn 4 kill, 3 if our oponent helps us.
If you're using that much 3CMC, you're not aiming for the turn 4. And, if you're not trying to win fast, the you'll need more options to hold on, or to disrupt your opponent.
It's a nice list, but i cannot agree with the 4 silverblade paladins. Paying 3 for a creature with no inmediant impact on the board, that also dies to bolt, dosen't seems good to me. Maybe some fiend hunter as extra removal???

And thanks for the answer!

In match 2, i would suggest bringing Skullcrack to keep them low in life, and Shattering Spree or Smash to Smithereens to slow them. Or, my personal choise, go full aggro and pray to avoid Pyroclasm
