I know we're all nerds here, but whenever people do these type of challenge I feel the need to point out that they suck. I know I'm not alone in my opinion that players drawing from non-M:tG (our true common knowledge) sources is dumb.

Creature - Human Warrior {R}
Double Strike, Trample, Haste, Lifelink, Reach, Vigilance, Shroud I think I can... I think I can... I think I can...
0/2
Blazing Scythe 2
Artifact - Equipment {R}
Kicker RRR
Equipped creature gets +3/+0. If Blazing Scythe was kicked, it has double strike.
Equip 3
IIW:
I'm away for the weekend, so pass off to second place.
Cool concept. The equipment is okay for any deck but really shines in a red one. Great limited card, but it would probably suffer from the “Fireball” effect. It is so good that any deck will take it even if they aren’t in red. Cheats the spirit of the 2 casting cost rule, but that is to be expected in WiJ games. B+
Improvised Weapon 2
Artifact - Equipment (U)
When Improvised Weapon enters the battlefield, sacrifice an artifact. If you do, put X charge counters on Improvised Weapon, where X is that artifact's converted mana cost.
Equipped creature gets +1/+1 for each charge counter on Improvised Weapon.
Equip 2
"Fancy magic swords are always nice, but sometimes the best weapon is whatever's in reach." - Ugrut, barbarian wanderer
Create an artifact that costs 8 or more.
Reminds me of Banshee’s Blade because of the costs and counters. Probably much better as it took so much work to get blade up and running. Flavorful, break an artifact use it to bash. The more powerful the equipment is, the more of a sacrifice you had to make. Well Done. A
It’s a combat trick and more. Usually this effect has cost a bit more in the past is my only concern. Magewright’s Stone is a fairly recently printed card, cost 2 only untaps some specific creatures (those with activated abilities that require a tap) and still costs 1 to activate. I feel like this is just to0 undercosted. B-
Jinxed Tome 2
Artifact (R)
At the beginning of your upkeep, each opponent draws a card.
Sacrifice a creature: Target opponent gains control of Jinxed Tome.
Its pages display your thoughts for all to see.
In Soviet Russia, book reads you.
Design a french vanilla creature; that is, a creature with no rules text other than keyword abilities. The abilities should be keywords that exist in the Magic comprehensive rules. Points for flavor, creativity, balance, and polish. Please include rarity.
Now this is a fun card. I just so happen to love these type of jinxed cards, they just rub me the right way. This card is so good vs. control decks. Sac a creature gain a personal howling mine. There is just so much to love here. A
Spine of Kozilek 2
Artifact {R}
Any time you could mulligan and Spine of Kozilek is in your hand, you may put Spine of Kozilek onto the battlefield. T, Sacrifice Spine of Kozilek: Draw a card.
^ All of kozilek's minions have these spines on them. Kozilek himself, however, does not. Perhaps the minions ARE THE SPINES /mindblown.
IIW: Make a robot version of a creature we already have.
Hm… I’m not 100% about this card. It acts like a “free mulligan” just like Serum Powder, however its effect if drawn is much better. Currently it also powers up metalcraft. Also, I don’t know that I’d like a deck to be able to run both this and Powder. All that said it is creative and well designed for what it is you want it to do. B+
JonFuryZacharias – Does not get judged because he forgot an IIW.
Myr Familiar - 2
Artifact Creature - Myr
Whenever another non-token Myr creature enters the battlefield under your control you may draw a card.
Is there nothing they can't do?
0/2
IIW - Choose one of the following and design a card around it; Nihilism, Pessimism, Optimism, Realism, Idealism, Cynicism.
Myr.dec huh. This card doesn’t do much by itself, but that’s the idea. A new use for myr, seem somewhat fragile though, and also very unilateral. It decreased deck design instead of increasing it with this type of card, as you basically say, if you run this you must run 16-20 other myr. Have 2 of these is where things start to get fun. Now if only I could give my mana myr haste we’d be in buisness. B+
Ring of Ice 2
Artifact – Equipment (Uncommon)
Equipped creature has ",T: Tap target artifact, creature, or land." U: Attach Ring of Ice to target creature you control.
Equip 2 (2: Attach to target creature you control. Equip only as a sorcery.)
A cycling of cards with cycling that have an effect when you cycle them.
I would have liked this SO much more without the instant speed equip ability. While it is flavorful, the ability isn’t THAT much better than the regular equip ability that only blue mages can run it or would draft it. I still very much so like the card however, build your own Icy. B+
Treasure Detector 2
Artifact (U) t, Sacrifice Treasure Detector: Choose a card type. Reveal cards from the top of your library until you reveal a card of the chosen type. Put that card into your hand, then shuffle the rest of the revealed cards into your library. (Artifact, creature, enchantment, instant, land, planeswalker, sorcery, and tribal are card types.)
- Create a 2cc instant card that counter target spell.
Focused card draw, getting you exactly what you need every time. All for 2 colorless mana. No thanks. This is a tutor for any deck that runs only 1 creature, 1 sorcery etc. Also, 2 mana to always get your Jace seems a little too good. D
1WW,t, : Exile target creature. Return that card to the battlefield under its owner's control at the beginning of the next end step.
IIW:
Create a card that can change a card's type or its own card type. Via threshold effect, or trigger, whatever it may be.
As always, no walkers, no cycles.
Cool effect, get rid of pesky blockers, re-use enters the battlefield effects. Not something we haven’t seen done before, see Mistmeadow Witch for another 2 CC version, but still neat. B

Not trying to back seat rule at all. I just saw a need in the thread and tried to fill it. I believe Megiddo and I agree for the most part with what this thread is trying to be and was just trying to relieve him of some of his burden. Megiddo does a great job here guys but anything we can contribute to make his job easier and this thread better should be done. It happens that Megiddo agreed with me, but I'm sure had he not he would have put me in my place.
Prior to my post more than 2 hours had passed without a new response in the thread. If you look at the thread from the previous night something like 13+ entries all came in within 10 hours, during which time the round as also closed and a new one began. Just trying to keep the thread moving, and suggesting helpful ways in which to do so. Then I added my own 2 cents in, in parenthetical, and explained that they were my own opinions.
Then I tried to be further helpful by in fact doing the searching and finding the link that I thought should have been in place all along. Just trying to contribute to this high quality thread and make it even better! Thanks again Megiddo!
Judges, if you are going to draw from obscure (read non-m:tg) sources (which I don't generally like and suggest that you do not do) you really shouldn't assume the players know anything about what you have posted. I know Magic is a direct descendant of D&D, but you shouldn't assume the WiJ players know anything about it. Always post a link to your outside idea/source. That being said, I've done the legwork for you this time Rimeshade.
TL;DR - Post the link in your IIW along with the challenge!

So my first thoughts were that this was way too good, but then I read it correctly and realized that the drawback is ridiculously huge. It’s great when you draw multiples! That made me like it… a lot. Supper Johnny card. A
Torrential Growth GG
Instant (U)
All lands produce G until end of turn.
All forests produce GG until end of turn.
I could be wrong with my rules knowledge on this one, but I believe as currently written this card doesn’t provide enough information. Is the green mana in addition to their normal type and amount or instead of? If it is instead of this makes it a GREAT green combo enabler. You shut down the ability to have most opponents react to your spells while giving yourself a green High Tide. If it is in addition, not so much. Either way, green high tide is flavorful, within the color pie, and cool. However, you don’t have an IIW, so in the future I won’t be paying you the kindness of feedback, as is I cannot give you a grade.
Nymphamorphis - GGG

It isn’t my job to do your research. I hope this harsh but effective message helps you become a better card creator and also prevents future judges from having to deal with this kind of thing. F
Primordial Surge XG
Instant {U}
Target creature gets +X/+X until end of turn.
Trinify 1G (You may cast this spell by paying 1G rather than paying its mana cost. If you do, X is 3.)
IIW:
Gimme a sec. On second thoughts, give me at least one extra turn.
Well, we have a spell that does the original ability word for word in T2. The Trinify ability is cool, but somewhat limited. I would prefer it to be WORD X – to give it more development room. B
Equalized Evolution WG
Instant (U)
Until end of turn, target creature's power and toughness become equal to the highest power and toughness among creatures on the battlefield.
"The Mirrora are harmless enough. Just don't let them get anywhere near a baloth..." - Accodi, Vergewood ambassador
Make a shapeshifter, or a card that turns a creature into one somehow.
I’ll be honest, I was hoping for mono-green instants, but as I didn’t say that I can’t hold it against you. You’ve taught me to be more careful with my wording. I also feel like this doesn’t have to be multi-colored, I think green could do this just fine by itself. I like the card, it’s a powerful pump spell, but only for pumping weenies, and only if there is already another big guy on the field. Good job. A+
Target land becomes a forest until the end of turn, then, all creatures you control gain forestwalk until the end of turn.
You’re missing an IIW, so you won’t be getting a grade, and at least from me, in the future you won’t even be getting a critique. That being said, I feel like there is a 3 casting cost Red sorcery that says creatures can’t block this turn. While slightly different this for the most part does the same thing. I feel that the cost and effect are both fine. Instant speed Lumbering Satyr abilities are fun!
Moreau's Meddling - 1UGG

Reveal cards from the top of your library until you reveal a creature card, exile that card then put X +1/+1 counters on another target creature where X is equal to the exiled cards toughness. Put all the revealed cards on the bottom of your library in any order.
"“His is the House of Pain. “His is the Hand that makes. “His is the Hand that wounds. “His is the Hand that heals.”" - H.G. Wells, The Island of Dr Moreau
IIW - Design a tri-coloured card using colour combinations not in Alara.
Cool card. Can give big bonuses, but requires a decent amount of work to get there. If you want a big bonus you need a fattie to be your next card, which means you can’t run spells like BoP or Elves. Wall becomes awesome in your deck. Not unreasonable, interesting card. B+
Implant 1GG
Instant
Target creature becomes a 0/3 green plant creature with defender until end of turn.
Make a red card that works well with blue.
So it’s like a green Humble, sort of. The creature keeps its abilities and is probably shrunk in the front and potentially a little in the back. It also makes the creature so it can’t attack, although in all honest both offensively and defensively you’d probably cast it after attackers are declared anyway. I think this might be overcost slightly, but as it is somewhat out of Greens color-pie to do this, the costing is acceptable. B
Mating Ritual 2GG
Instant (R)
As an additional cost to cast Mating Ritual, tap two untapped creatures you control.
Put a creature card from your hand onto the battlefield.
When these woods are rockin' don't come a-knockin'.
IIW
Make a legendary creature that would be a great EDH general.
I worry about cards like these. Dramatic Entrance cost 5 and limited you to a green creature. While this has an additional cost, it just brings about horrible thoughts of turn 3 Emrakruls. I know it’s not your fault that WotC might have made a creature that was “just too good”, but knowing that it exists means you have to play around it. C+
Fertile Season GGG
Instant
Whenever you tap a land for mana this turn, add one mana of a colour that land could produce to your mana pool.
IIW
Make me a really cool enemy-coloured planeswalker.
High Tide for 3 now. While this does more than high tide, I truly believe green could get a version of it printed for the exact same cost and effect and it would be reasonable. Adding the extra 2 green mana kind of nerfs your spell. To accelerate 1 mana you need to have 5 lands in play, that’s rough. Cool spell still. C+
