Such low power considering this is a rare and there are uncommons in this set that outshine it. It also doesn't have haste to fit a 'tortoise v hare' nod. Not what I'd expect for a rabbit legend, unless they were thinking some Easter Bunny influence, but this is still bad.

I find Hullbreacher being completely mono-white in concept hard to believe when it does Notion Thief's hosing job but generally worse (I've often ended up with too much mana and nothing to spend it on, regardless of format).

Yeah kind of. White has a similar effect with Alms Collector. And at least one card that does the 'only one card draw in your turn' thing with Spirit of the Labyrinth. In addition the card has similarities to Smothering Tithe because of the draw condition and the treasure. But it fits perfectly in the pirate theme and blue color pie. It is, I believe, the first mono blue card that is doing this, tho. While white were already dipping in this kind of effects. If this card would have been white than the effect should have been a little different, too. Like adding some kind of taxing condition on top the whole treasure creation, draw rule thing (similar to Smothering Tithe). Well at least it is a creature which can be easily removed.

If this were White, I don’t believe it would need a tax cost like Smothering Tithe. Tithe has to go through Standard, so makes sense the diagnosis would give the opponent an option. Since this is going straight into Commander, it should work like Alms Collector and give no option. It would give a nice boost to White, keeping with tax effects, but scaled for Commander.

I like Hullbreacher’s design, but a part of me wishes that this had been a white card. First Opposition Agent bled a bit of White’s rule-making and arguably has a better effect than White would get. Then this card does a thing that White should be doing, namely locking/slowing down and disrupting attempts to get ahead. They both even have Flash, which really encroaches on White’s slice of pie when connected to a tax effect.

Players: MonoWhite needs help doing more things than just attacking.
WotC: Ok, here's removal that's a twist on White's larger board states that doesn't involve attacking.
Players: WhY yOu BeNd CoLoR pIe FoR wHiTe???

This is a great card for White to get as it's a better payoff to flooding the board/creating tokens than just attacking. Yes, it does feel Red, but White sorely needs help fleshing out its ID. Let it become the color that best utilizes a large board/token swarm. This is a big step in making White a more well rounded color and doesn't hurt the other colors either. Shoot, Green just had another gigantic creature that is uncounterable, has haste and hexproof, and a kicker to add more counters while already starting as a 6/6. Let White get new toys lol.

Glad they gave us a Bestow commander, and her abilities are solid. Just wish her bestow cost wasn’t as steep. I run her as my commander and always have to watch my mana for when I want to bestow her or not. Overall, glad to have her than not.

I would love to see Ixidor given a new card if they are revisiting Odyssey/Onslaught characters. He could be another option for morph decks, and I can see him being either monoblue or have a blue cmc and a colored activated ability to keep morph deck options open.

morph is in all colors and all colors have decent flip up tricks

I know that, we just don’t know what kind of cycle these legends will be. That’s why I said a new Ixidor could be monoblue based on past cycles or they could do like these latest JumpStart legends and have off color abilities. I’d be all for an Ixidor with abilities that make him five colors. Not just a generic five color activation like Golos or new Sisay, but a couple of abilities, or more, that fill out his color identity.

Cool card design, but it's the art that does it for me. I love that it's just a house cat staring into the heavens with eight cat legends staring back at it. The art has Ajani, his brother Jazal, Kemba, Kaheera, Jareth Leonin Titan, but I can't make out the other three. Prob Balan and Mirri too. That's a pretty fun way to do cameos haha

I'm always up for more payoffs for life gain. Now we just need a couple cards that let you draw a card if you've gained [insert amount] life this turn. Let White get rewarded with cards for gaining life lol.

With Niambi being spoiled today, safe to say Kaervek got the short end of designs among the Visions/Mirage legends. The others have a good chunk of text and explore abilities like Mangara drawing cards for white and Jolreal dipping mono-green into UG space. Kaervek just needs something more, a keyword or some payoff to his static. As is, he just feels like an uncommon legend and not something ppl will want to open.

Green's slice of the color pie: Did you do anything on your turn? You did? Cool, here's a card.

So tired of Green getting good incidental card draw each set. Meanwhile, White needs two or more creatures to be attacking them, or have an opponent cast their second spell.

Wait a second how I miss that

Look at who's talking in the flavor text

    ”braids, dementia summononer”

It's a full name not just ”braids”

Are we getting a new braids!?

I'd love for us to get a new Braids! If they can make Rankle, they can find a way to make a new Braids that's less busted/stax-y. Since she has the Dementia Summoner title, maybe she'll get a Chainer, Nightmare Adept treatment. Fingers crossed!

This is a good direction for white card draw, but does seem a little slow. I wish it drew for each creature attacking while still keeping the draw on the second spell opponents cast. That way it would work against go-wide decks that have already emptied their hands by the time Mangara hits, and still be good against control and midrange when they get to two spell turns. As is, still a good card and a step in the right direction.

I mean, it does though. Knowing how your colors will pan out def helps with world building bc it'll guide you as to what fits and what won't both with mechanics and flavor. Maro is acknowledging that Tarkir did the alternate take of Wedges first, and now Ikoria gives us the actual depiction of the Wedges, letting us see how the center color influences its enemies. Take Mardu: instead of crazy, ruthless nomads with a loose society, we get a tight-knit society working together for survival. This also helped shape the world with how the creature types got selected for each triome. Snapdax, Apex of the Hunt gets to be a Dino Cat Nightmare, since Red centered Dinos, White Cats, and Black Nightmares, where on Tarkir, they'd just be another dragon.

This seems unnecessary. UG was already doing enough. WR needs to have things attacking and for you to have a specific balance of differing creature types to work and costs twice as much. This just says “hey do what you were already doing. I’ll help!” Good card and all but jeeze.

I agree with ya that Boros and White always have to risk themselves to get card advantage while UG and Green just sit back and rake it in. Def think it's about time that RW/W can just sit back and enjoy some card advantage. The whole, 'it's just not what they do' sentiment needs to change to allow RW/W to actually catch up with the other colors.
