The flavor text kind of makes sense the way it is... if you think about it.
The coating is an unnatural skin that they are wearing, but it's only until the end of turn. Elesh Norn is saying that soon they'll become accustomed to wearing skin that isn't there own, presumably after they are "infected" or whatever, but more than likely for "life".
That said, it's &^%^ing 1:23am, and I just logged onto MTGSalvation. I'd like a spoiler, not some j^&*%a$$ doing a little danace on his self-important blog because he knows a card that we don't.
So I'm making this pledge: For each hour I don't know what this card is, I'm going to cancel 10% or more of my preorder, and if I don't get an answer before 0%, I won't buy any cards this year.
WOTC only understands their hurt wallet... and even then, not very well.
Calm down my man. Its just a spoiler. Don't have an aneurysm. I can just see the veins popping out of your head right now.
but on to the card 2UU that is a rare Staple. Chapman knows what he is talking about, but this sounds like another Starcity games "OMGITIZAMAZINGMUSTHAVETHATYOUBUYFROMOURSITEFOR20BUCKSOVERTHEACTUALVALUE.OURKIDSHAVETOEAT!" Tactic.
I don't think it's a creature, and if it is I don't see it being much stronger than Conundrum Sphinx at :2mana::symu::symu:. We only have that one Metalcraft counter so far right? It's probably some counterspell then... Oh well, I can wait till Monday to find out.
I seem to remember white hitting tapped creatures a ways before gid. To lazy to go look it up, though.
Just looked it up... only cards I saw in white that had to do with destroying tapped creatures originated in Portal.
Just think of this card this way though, it kills all of the creatures that aren't Vigilant enough. That being said, I kind of wish this thing had Vigilance.
Should we be willing to print "destroy target planeswalker" despite the flavor issues?
No. The costs to flavor outweigh the game-play benefits. 6942 64.7%
Yes. Having explicit answers to planeswalkers is important. 2680 25.0%
I don't care. 1111 10.4%
Total 10733 100.0%
Still say that they won't print a card that specifically destroys/removes Planeswalkers. I know for sure I read that in some article... I just can't remember which. They might have said that they won't in the near future... but I'm pretty sure it was a general rule of thumb to not print that kind of card. Colored permanents (likely), permanents in general (unlikely), or non-creature (and/or) non-land permanents (most likely) are your best bets at getting Planeswalker removal.
Haven't they said that they won't print removal that specifically targets Planeswalkers? I seem to recall a few articles that address this... but can't exactly place where.
Sorry for not reading the thread if this has been mentioned.
I could see a cycle of 2 mana artifacts that enter the battlefield tapped and tap for 1 of each respective color of mana, and can be played for free if they are in your opening hand. It's simple and elegant. That's my guess.
Oh god, that thing would be broken. Just slam a bunch of those into a "use only colorless" type deck, and BAM (with no lands). You've ramped out to a billion on turn 1.
Suffice it to say, something like that is beyond broken.
Greater Basilisk has some interesting reminder text:
I think it's possible that the rules of deathtouch will change slightly, such that it doesn't ignore blocking order anymore, but now an assignment of 1 damage is sufficient to move on to the next blocker.
Even more interesting is how this interacts with the trample reminder text on Garruk's Companion:
Does this mean that deathtouch and trample now are a more effective combo? Will a trampling deathtoucher only have to assign 1 damage to each blocker?
Steam Power - While yes the possibility of +6/+0 in one turn isn't that bad... once it's gone it's gone. I'd much rather just see a Static ability that gives +X/+0 and flying where X is the # of charge counters. Either that or just get rid of the "remove a charge counter" line and make it +X/+0 anyway. 5/10

When ~ enters the battlefield, target opponent discards a card.
Whenever an opponent discards a card, put a +1/+1 counter on ~.

Overreacting much?

Just throwing that out there.
I personally love this card. I'll put it to good use in some of my old-ish artifact decks.
I knew I had read it somewhere.
Sorry for not reading the thread if this has been mentioned.
I think, therefore I am.
Anyway... I'm sure there will be at least a few Vampires... even if they're all Phyrexian aligned.
These.
I'd rather have Paradise Plume.
I really really like the Lich, and the turn two potential of the Demon makes me want to at least try it out. Wish it had haste tho.
Ritual is kind of meh... tho I'll probably end up using it somewhere.
...but in the long term? If all we ever do is "creep" upwards, we're bound to reach the top eventually.
This has been talked about here.
Spoiler is looking good so far... can't wait for previews next week.

I know, I suck at naming cards...
