According to CNN and The New York Times, the Federal Reserve has just agreed to bail out insurance giant AIG with an unprecedented 85 billion dollar loan in exchange for an 80% stake in the company. AIG, the largest insurance company in the United States, had a widespread influence that includes banks, arilines, and Hollywood studios, all of which may be effected by the takeover.
Considering we have seen recent bailouts with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and with more recent news that the Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch going down, what sort of trend is this setting? Will we see a lot more of these bailouts in the future? (I admit I can't come up with good discussion questions, but you guys will think of something no doubt)
The story is really just the title, and is frankly horrific. This is really quite unbelievable to me.
EDIT: As some have properly noted, the title was misleading and written because I was shocked over the event. The title has been changed, although if you have better suggestions, you can let me know.
Shortly after the passing of Bernie Mac, another celebrity, soul singer and actor Issac Hayes, was found dead in his home. The cause of death is not yet known.
If you read the post carefully, you would have noticed the OP edited the post after I replied. You can verify this by comparing my posting time and his editing time on the bottom. I believe I may have been the one to have actually notified the OP that the link wasn't working properly so that he edited the post.
For the record, this is true. sentiment was the one to point out the broken link.
Another question that may be related. Conduct of teachers, principals, etc. outside of their official duties. Case in point: A teacher who badmouths students and their families outside of class, who drinks a lot or gambles or is abusive with his family and friends, who has extreme political leanings, who engages in outside work that while not illegal, creates a bad image in the community: operating a head shop, selling questionable items on auctions online, repossessing people's cars, being a member of a band that glorifies drugs or violence in their music.
Where do you think the boundaries between public and private life sit? I'm curious because there are good reasons for preserving privacy and autonomy, and good reasons for holding public servants to a higher standard of conduct in and out of the classroom. I know that doctors and lawyers are held to higher standards of personal conduct along similar reasoning.
Using the examples that you gave, I would rank almost everything you said acceptable, except maybe abusive to family and friends and heavy drinking. For the most part, as long as it does not affect the student's learning, it should be fine.
Second of all, I don't see why you would need any guidelines other than the rules + playing with standard commons. As for ideas, booster packs always make good prizes, and entry fees should be enough to cover the packs.
hmm, your not a farmer, but not a hobbygardenguy (the tractor) to. My 'patetofield' is like 2 meters on 2 meters. Enough to cook 2-3 meals. I had a very busy week. Working during the day and partying in the evening. I think I'm actually accumulating a very big sleepdeficiency.
Well, up to the sleep deficiency part, that didn't sound too bad. It's nice to always be keeping busy, at least, it's better than boredom.
Also, we have a lot of people with a military history here! I'm surprised! Our family has soldiers in its past, but not for a while. In fact, the most recent example was my great-great grandfather, and he fought in the Russo-Japanese War back in 1905!
Kamikaze (Whenever this creature is sent to the graveyard from play, it deals damage to target creature or player equal to its power)
What do you think? I even came up with a card to put it on: Divine Wind Charge2W
Instant
Target creature you control gains kamikaze until end of turn. "I can die but once. Is it foolish to die a glorious death atop my enemies so that those I love may live?" -author unknown, last words
I can see it having its uses, but yeah, take it out of white. Red seems to be the most likely candidate for this.
That part got me too. How has this gone unnoticed and neglected for this long?
Yeah, this is probably one of the worst things I've read in a while.
Yes, AIG is becoming nationalized.
Opposite: It was confirmed on CNN that the bailout is happening.

Well this is absurd.
In a Georgia high school, a substitute teacher and a student actually started a full out fist fight, with both sides not giving in.
What do you think about this? I have to say, it's actually pretty funny, in a deplorable sort of way.
EDIT: Sorry about the link. I just noticed that. To get to the video hit "Most Popular", and then watch the first one.

Good luck with your idea.
