What would a SB look like post SOI?
    Mine is something akin to

    1 qasali pridemage
    1 scavenging ooze
    1 spellskite
    1 burrenton forge tender
    1 Kataki
    1 Linvala (ROE)
    1 Sigarda(AVR)
    1 choke
    2 pithing needles
    3 path to exile
    2 abrupt decay

    main deck pretty standard, with
    3 voice of resurgence
    1 qasali
    1 ooze
    1 spellskite
    1 orzhov pontiff

How would you SB/Flex your deck in the new meta?

    Reasons for SB:
    Burrenton-forge tender
Solid against Anger of the gods. Pretty much needed with the upcoming Jund/Grixis threat.

    Pithing needle
Good against a variety of cards, mainly Thopter foundry/man-lands/lightning storm etc

    Abrupt Decay
    Catch-all removal

    Choke
For blue decks, probably the worst card in the SB

    Linvala
Mirror match all-star, might remove if meta becomes more controlly

    Sigarda
Kills control and Jund quickly and effectively

Rest of the cards are pretty much standard, except for the missing Thoughseizes and Fulminators.

Added in an extra Qasali for the threat of thopters and people bringing in cards like curse of death's hold and Night of Souls' Betrayal, affecting a majority of our creatures(mana dorks etc)

Kataki vs Stony silence, which is better for the meta now?

Keep it togather guys. I know a lot of exiting cards got spoiled, and people have strong feelings about how the deck should be played, but the truth is there still isnt enough data to back anything is better than anything. Keep your cool.

isn't it time to update the primer?

so with the current count, there is only 1 rare left to spoil and barely any uncommons?

So this is what I'm running with right now, its really been fun / consistent and I'm very very much enjoying playing it. But I'm really having trouble with a "catch all" type sideboard. My FNM is full of a few consistent decks but alot of people who do random brews. Cards I've considered
Feed the Clan, Tectonic Edge, Pithing Needle, Malestrom Pulse, Torpor Orb, Batterskull, Memoricide/Cranial Extraction, Surgical Extraction, Spreading Algee, Ruin Processor, Ratchet Bomb, Choke
And well I knows its annoying when people do this but I could really use help with the whole sideboard thing because I'm fairly inexperienced with them.

    Thanks!

was considering the switch to green after oath of nissa was spoiled, but I am hard pressed to find a reason other than cantripping and ADecay.

Value Town is getting a bit crowded as of late.

Blocks goblin guide, trades death, puts strangler into play, kills other guide after processing suspended rift bolt.

    one can dream

Is timely reinforcements good enough for burn? They usually side in skullcrack , sometimes up to 4 after sideboard. Would sun droplet or dragon's claw be a better choice?

Parity specifically means number of cards. Obviously parity isn't what matters here, but quality and selection. Path is not a parity card, but you trade a spell to turn their creature into a land. In the case of clique like effects, you take their best card and turn it into a random card. Its always pretty good.

I always thought of parity in terms of tug of war. A little here and a little there, kind of like how jund wins. Hence parity in terms of overall quality(random card drawn) not raw quantity(number of cards), but I guess we all agree on how the card should be evaulated Grin

Also, when someone Terminates your Seer, it's not card advantage for them, it's simply parity. You exiled a card, they get a new one. Body for removal, exile for draw.

I do think Thought-Knot Seer is pretty reasonable, but not stellar. Maybe good in the aggro lists, and possibly Sideboard material for combo matchups too.

@Stubbe, I don't think you can go all in on creatures and skip out on the ramp and Scrabbling Claws. These decks can be inconsistent; the ramp and cantrip spell are pretty necessary it seems. You might get by with only a couple Scrabbling Claws and a handful of mindstones/maps, but I think you need a nonzero number of them. Not playing discard also seems very risky in this format. I think the aggro versions will be successful to some extent, but they will still need to share a similar core.

I would even say you're up in parity, as you choose a card to exile(probably one that you can't deal with or a combo piece) and they draw a random card in place.
Also, with removal as sparse in modern as it is now, the only removals commonly played that can rid them of this card are path, dismember, roast, go for the throat, terminate.
    Seems alright by me

2/1/0 spellskite in the main board. I run 2 but with the new white eldrazi spoiled, seems like it can relegate to the sideboard and bring in more discards main board instead

Cavern is almost strictly better, no?

cavern doesn't tap for color for lingering souls/discard/path though

Both good points that I didn't think about. Definitely a nasty defense tool. The Sculler-Strangler combo sounds a bit magical Christmas land, but that could be back breaking.

It's not even that hard to pull off. Sure, doing the whole sequence in one turn is a bit unlikely but any one of those interactions is pure value, and the sculler ETB/flicker trick is the only one that's time sensitive so you can split it up over a few turns. T3 drop Displacer, T4 play Temple, drop Sculler, flicker Sculler is a totally reasonable line of play, and the end result is 1 card's gone forever, one more under the sculler that can be processed any time as long as it survives, and you still have a 3/3 and a 2/2 sitting around that can repeat the combo later. That's like a free -2 to your opponent.

oh, and it interacts with strangler as well as strangler is etb not on cast.

seems at most sideboard tech for aggro(affinity/infect/reliquary zoo) and some combo(twin/emrakul based decks) but nothing here that spellskite doesn't already do well though. Worth a look but ultimately my guess would be that the lack of "until end of turn" clause makes it undesirable, but a fine budget substitute for spellskite

The only decks that it does *nothing* against are the uninteractive combo decks that don't put creatures on the board - Ad Naus and Storm primarily. Oh, and it's not great versus Bloom Titan, though flickering the titan and giving them more lands is probably preferable to eating 16 to the face.

The fact that it's a proactive creature that also has some crazy combo potential with Sculler makes it very attractive IMO.

hmm a point i saw above being brought up is that you can drop this in place of a strangler to save removal.

I wonder what we are going to cut for this, or if we have to re-design our deck list by main decking 4 tidehollow.

Seems logical to test, since the deck is still new and Oath is bringing us SO many new toys.

It still seems like a great get out of jail card for the midgame. Your opponent can't go for an infect/affinity kill easily, flicker their twin target, shut down Emrakul or Wurmcoil, etc.
