In short, expensive Legacy staples is a symptom of a HEALTHY legacy format, not a cause for concern.
Because people not being able to/not wanting to buy in because of high prices is good?
A healthy format is one that brings in new players. High prices cuts that down. I love how people justify health with the List/high prices. Sure, it's good if you want the format to become a defacto "millionaires' club".

The reserved list will never be abolished because a secret cabal of 80 year old crusty dementia ridden collectors from the Vatican would sue Wizards and take over the company if they ever try. Happy?

Completely in agreement. And this thread is a shining example of why I don't allow these discussions in the Legacy section. It brings things out of the woodwork that are best left there, and all in all just gets people mad at eachother because of irreconcilable points of view.
I'm sick of Wizard's "Reserve list" Policy. I'm formulating a letter to send en mass until my sentiments and those of others are addressed in the actions of WOTC. Lets get a good discussion going and see if we cant, "Be the change you hope to see in the world"!
Don't bother. WotC had a chance to after GP Madrid. They made statements and actions that led many to believe they'd get rid of that abomination (hell, they even admitted the List was a mistake). They proceeded to do a 180 and quash those hopes.
You could get every Legacy player to join your petition, and it still wouldn't make a difference. Legacy will go the way of Vintage on cardboard. The only bright spot is that the Reserved List doesn't apply to MTGO.
