just want to post to say that if yall havent tested zhalfirin void ... play it. and play 4... what your cut is up to you... i think im on the same plan as jordan. 1 gemstone in side. 3 GQ 0 sea gates.
sure it just adds a small amount of consistency, but it is much much desired, and go as far to call it a core card after a few leagues even.
uh,silly discussions... i play 61 semi-often post board, but not MB ever... leave it at that.
another 5-0 recently. deck feels good even with the tough matches... hollow one human, and affninity are going decent enough... weirdly i keepy losing to storm cause the whole sb is going to aggro/creatures matches basically. oh well.
definitely come around to nimble obstructionist over TKS though, so versatile and cant be countered! ... love it.
Y’all crazy. Control matches have definitely gotten closer but we are still the apex predator.
Crucibl of worlds in the 75 helps both these matches. Know their strategy. The main way they win is landing an early threat and out tempo-ing us. Do the same to them. Or have spatial for their threats. UW lists have been running resto angel... be prepared. ¯\_(..)_/¯.
Zhalfirin void if definitely something the deck could use. I agree. I’ve lost too many matches where you just top deck only lands/serum powder that I feel more consistency is desired after we mulligan.
Think I could be time to swap a land to to the board. It’s only relevant 50% of the time but is huge and synergistic when it is. I used to play 2 gemstone main 1 side with blue tron when the meta was fast. It sucks losing a spot but we often have dead lands to side out in any match. I.e. scavenger grounds, wastes, ghost quarter
I wouldn’t want to go down on Gq. They are too valuable. Sometimes just winning games on basic light matches. Killing man lands Time walking vs tron. Etc.
karn, scion of urza I haven’t heard any chatter about. Also can help smooth out the game. The construct tokens could get kinda big with blinkmoth+chalice +powder ... not sure what slot he’d go in... but maybe 1 main 1 side or just 1-2 side.... I’d have to test it in out “Grindy” package. Hope others do as well.
Commit/ memory is expensive sure.it has flexibility though which is nicE. I would only cast memory if it was off of a gearhulk at opponents The meta has slowed down and running that and gifts feels fine. They both get boarded out in Aggro matches.
Gearhulk being fetchable off of treasure mage and recurrable is nice but condescend and repeal are bad for sure
SB tips vs humans is just like merfolk pretty much.
Usually something like that. Remand stays on the play sometimes. Seas is the same slot on the draw. Keep vial out of play if possible. Ugin ballista and o stone are the best cards, but Angel and wurmcoil can steal games for sure. Mindslaver is really weak apart from the lock. If you play two I’d board one out. Both decks will save their bounce spells, (reflector mage/ harbinger) so be prepared.
played a comp league with U tron just now, my first in a bit, cause i wanted to try RayFuturePro's list that posted a few 5-0s recently (with a few modifications to my liking, i cant put Solemn simulacrum in a list) ... but yeah, went 5-0 myself!
played vs:
humans, merfolk, titanshift, URcontrol, hollowone roulette
card notes:
torrential gearhulk felt good everytime i saw it (1/1 snapcaster split) first time actually trying it, lol. supreme will also felt good everytime i had it. buried ruin won me a game or two (the fact that it immediately puts a card, ballista in this case, into your hand, vs on draw) in the gemstone caverns slot
did not cast Committ/memory once, so i'm not sure about that one...
also, nimble obstructionist vs TKS as a postboard tempo threat , not sure which i like more.
No one talking about new karn? ... good value walker that could work in our Grindy post board package... however it doesn’t fill a void really unfortunately.
I think Tec edge is also a good land in that slot to consider
couple notes on things above... that BR list , i played a league with it and it was pretty bad.
cavern is not necessary... its not wrong, but theres other lands that are more important i think. if you look at the last two lists posted (jordans classic, and my comp league 5-0)... neither have any caverns... our lists were the same but i had 3 ratchet bomb 2 neeedle, he had 4 bomb 1 needle) ... 0 endless ones.
hell yeah. Roulette was the idea for a name which i have been pushing people to adopt cause its so fitting! ... came up in a chat on discord with char_aznable, myself and another person. He brought up Yahtzee! as a name ... which led me to roulette cause the colors of the deck.
i think dreadbore, and high of souls are maybe clunky and high cmc for the deck. 2x pithing needle is legit, and the earliest forms of the deck played them. e.e is flexible and decent tho. I have been thinking 3 Blood moon would be good at the moment. and 2x needle. I've cut leylines for just 2x spellbomb.
needle can just hit so many problem cards.... ravager, cranial plating, search for azcanta, planeswalkers, o stone, expedition map t1... etc. and its at 1 cmc, which is what our deck wants.
yeah, all those 2/3 cmc are big.... the average cmc of the deck is less than 1 optimally... thats why i dont like playing 4 goblin lore 2 collective brutality... too high cmcs lol.
as far as engineer explosives/sweepers....
we dont want cards over 3cmc really... so we can think of e.e. on 0 or 1 only...
but since it is more versatile, i think it is probably a better card. vs humans, tokens, 8rack, chalice of the void...
affinity i find to be fine. plating and vault skirge can be annoying... it just depends on what we have vs them. like etched champ is great it we have no hollow ones, etc. pyroclasm is great in that match, and also vs any token deck, and i can justify it in the 75 for sure.
yeah, edge of autumn is great at filling the grave quick with a relic out or whatever, i usually just bait them with a flamewake or ghast to crack their relic, and move on from there and rebuild. Edge gets sided out often (Except vs burn, i keep it in over street wraith) some matches ill take a ghast, or an angler out, but flamewakes, hollow ones, and flameblades are our best threats... collective brutality comes out a lot as well, and sometimes 1 burning inquiry vs like dredge.
sure it just adds a small amount of consistency, but it is much much desired, and go as far to call it a core card after a few leagues even.
i had a funny league that i went 2-3, beat burn twice, but lost to storm x2 and boggles, inverted universe i suppose. lol.

yeah, ive gone down one seagate for a third mutavault recently.
I know what you’re saying though. If we are hitting creatures man lands are less relevant...
4 eldrazi temple
2 gemstone caverns
2 scavenger grounds
2 mutavault
4 blinkmoth nexus
3 zhalfirin void
2 wastes
4 ghost quarter
1 gemstone caverns SB

That’s the 5-0 list.

SB tips vs humans is just like merfolk pretty much.
In: Wurmcoil, 3 spatial, 3 dismember. Tec edge, spreading seas x2
Out: talisman, Titan, buried ruin, commit, gifts, chalice, remand x3

that classic was like 400 people too.

I’ve played a ton of matches and haven’t hit more than 3. That’s nuts!
Couple tech notes:
Mishra’s bauble...
I’ve been testing lingering souls also on and off. It’s pretty legit.
i think dreadbore, and high of souls are maybe clunky and high cmc for the deck. 2x pithing needle is legit, and the earliest forms of the deck played them. e.e is flexible and decent tho.
