competitive leagues are more competitive than fmn. more like an IQ or pptq.
friendly leagues are like fnm i guess...
anyways. yeah, opt just helps smooth things out. even when not turn one theres these situations:
t4 tron+island... opt, then play wurm/angel.
thirst+opt eot turn 4.
t3 2 island 1 tron: opt for remand/condescend/etc
when chalice on one is a plan, i would cut opt before map because map gets pitched to thirst.
another new card note: field of ruin has pretty much replaced ghost quarter for me... seems like a strict upgrade so far.
-gq takes us down a land (which we never want to be) ... FoR is even, as is tec edge.
-FoR mana fixes us while destroying a pesky land . it turns into an island. perfect.
-2 cmc activation is not a big deal, the only match it matters is tron, but i hate ghost quartering a tron land anyways unless i have extraction. use spreading seas for a better effect.
Here's my opt list. 10-1 with it so far, including 5-0 yesterday.
Opt adds a little consistency and I like it more than anticipate. Anticipate sometimes hits multiple cards you want and you only choose one. Also it's mana efficiency. Anyways. Here's the deck :
angel is just a good "oh *****" card g1, that i cant imagine dropping it ever...
been testing Opt. 3/4 MB... feels surprisingly good.1 man vs 2 mana is nice. i went off MB chalice and ballista to make room in one list... off talisman and sad robot in another...
just another 5-0 stolen by mtgo, and timing out with slaver lock. nbd.
these are reasons why i dont play U tron as much as i'd like to sometimes, mtgo clock in control mirrors (i play on a laptop) ... and in real life, last two tournaments starting with a DRAW (death sentence) because of playing SLOW opponents.
frustrating!
other news. will try Opt start today or tomorrow... and 1 karn MB was good (realistically 5-0 league with it)
ah, i see the Opt talk got started....
interesting and kinda good card!
pros:
-instant speed cantrip
-1 mana
issues:
-1 mana (not a real issue)
-what do you cut for it? chalice? 1 flex spell? ... i can see 3 copies max really...
-heres the real one: where does it fill a void? ... its good on T1, but apart from t1 because its 1 mana, anticipate is a card that digs deeper, as pierakor said. and t1 we often play a tron land and hopefully a map.
hey yall! finally picked up this deck. Im a control player who also enjoys dysfunctional decks (See: eldrazi stompy, and tron) ... U tron is my fav. and is also a hard to pilot and highly rewarding deck. so i figured I may find a good home with lantern...
anyways, im glad to see the chatter on spyglass, and it makes sense to me. I was going to use spyglass in eldrazi stompy cause SSG allows it to be played t1, and they ultimately have a chalice on 1 many games, so it fits in well there, but it seems a bit unnecessary in this deck for previously mentioned reasons. slowing the deck down is not good.
random idea partially in line with spyglass talk, has anyone ever trie SSG for speeding the deck up even more?
I have a question about witchbane orb ... as a 4th leyline, that is tutor-able with inventors fair? ... is there a reason people don't do this? for titanshift/burn/ad nauseum maybe? ... or is it just unnecessary?
i used to play grand architect decks when i got into modern years ago and just picked up this since it is way more viable with the new additions ( ballista, copter, wanderer) ... anyways, ive noticed the deck is at its best with a throne out... i feel like 3 copies might be the right number??? anyone tried that? i know the odds of drawing two are real, but we have copter to loot away anyways...
+1 for master of etherium, not sold on trinket package, but its not bad for sure. kinda want more thorns than 2 SB also in the matches where prison is the game plan...
i cant get behind trinket. its fine, but idk.... fabricate as i said i like more. ballista is great in a lot of matches. d&t and affinity have 1 butt creatures...it can be recurred as well. kills mana dorks sometimes... and just wins others. i cant imagine not using 1 of anymore.

I had two chalice side and would board out a couple one drops when I'd want it on one.
Burn
Ad nauseum
Grixis shadow
Are main chalice on one matches I can think of atm
Not many.
14-2 now.
After a few leagues I would swap wurm and ballista mb/SB and one treasure marge back for fabricate (or trinket if you want)
Kinda miss snapcaster but not sure where he should go... could go to 3 remands. I'd never cut the 2nd slaver though.

Yeah deck feels amazing now. 4-1 comp leagues all damn day (I'll start 5-0ing. I promise) Like, the best it's felt since twin was around.
Grixis shadow and eldrazitron are so easy. Just need to stop losing to affinity. Going up in hurkyls to two I think.
