Etched Champion is usually the reason I lose to affinity, been having a pretty bad run against affinity as of late. Heading into GP OKC I am definitely going to be ready for that matchup. In the main I am running a Grim Lavamancer and a Kalitas (which is not amazing but decent enough vs affinity if we can slow them enough, great vs ravager and races favorably). In the sb i plan on running the following options vs affinity: 1 damnation, 2 grudges, 1 kozileks return, 1 anger of the gods and 1 shatterstorm. I'd like to add another k return and cut anger just bc it is such a great answer for everything they have except ravager but its hard to justify when anger is so much better vs coco, humans, dredge and other aggro decks... so thats my conundrum at the moment
I would cut the Shatterstorm for another KReturn. Why would run want Shatterstorm is the question? KReturn is good vs other matchups as well, and most of the times KReturn kills a Champion. (the only way I could think of would be Welding Jar or Ravager, if he puts a counter on the Champion in response)
I have been having a difficult time with the 5c humans deck. Big Thalia on T2 is a beating along with their creatures getting huge.
Could hushwing gryff/tocatli honor guardbe the best answer for mono white? I don’t see how humans can deal with this. The problem is that it’s a huge non-bo with the resto angels and splicers. Would have to change the deck to hate bears in order to make up for this.
Does anyone have any other suggestions on ways to beat this deck?
Congrats on the win and thanks for the report Finrod!
I have been looking at a number of different E&T and mono white D&T lists and some of the flex spots in the sideboard seems to be mirran crusader, kor firewalker, burrenton forgetender, Gideon ally of zendikar.
In this meta I feel like Gideon ally of Zendikar is needed in order for us to grind against decks such as UW Control, sun and moon, grixis control, grixis shadow, jeskai.
It also seems like catmix, charons nobile and spider have been having success with Gideon of the trials.
With the new planeswalkers rule would it make sense to include a 2/2 package of Gideon of the trials and Gideon ally of zendikar?
Here are some reasons why I think it should be considered:
1) Gideon of trials can replace mirran crusaders in the deaths shadow matchups and it doesn't get hit by kozileks return
2) Gideon of the trials is great against burn and replaces the need for burrenton and kor firewalker
3) The mana is bad in E&T but I have not had trouble getting the double white. Some lists have been having success with gonti and the double black seems much worse.
4) Great synergy with Gideon Ally of Zendikar
5)A wrath proof clock. Wrath effects can be devastating for us.
6)Utility against ad nauseum, Solid against decks with big creatures that don't go wide such as Eldrazi, goyf, sqooze, tasigur, gurmag angler, siege rhino
I have not tested this combination yet but I am excited to try it out. Has anyone tested this yet in a D&T type of list? Would love to hear everyone's thoughts on this idea.
Thanks for the report. I usually find Kiki chord extremely difficult. The deck usually completely outvalues me until they combo for the win. Can you provide details on that matchup and your sideboard plan?
I like the list but why not cut a bolt for lavamancer.
Push is way more powerful in this meta and the lavamancer can act as a reoccurring bolt. Lavamancer and Lilliana the lost hope will also allow you to take down 3 toughness creatures.
How about replacing the thrun with a 2nd kitchen finks? Finks is good against control alas well bc it's a for 1 if they don't have path. In addition I like brining it back from the graveyard with Liliana the lost hope. 2 in the sideboard also is an easy sideboard decision against decks where rabblemaster is weaker.
Can play Nihil spellbomb or leyline of the void in place of the relics like BG rock.
This list probably does work against midrange and has a solid control matchup but I think it needs more in the SB to beat combo and tron/Scapeshift
2 Jund lists in the top 30 modern challenge.
They are playing a more grindy version over the rabblemaster aggro versions.
Thoughts on this?
What’s your latest 75 flyingdelver?

Is the meta becoming favorable for Jund?
