I've gone up to 2 now. Would have saved me both matches, hitting Breach and Plating. Doesn't change the utter *****show of experiences though. Luckily, some poor sap was on Jund that evening as well, and we had an amazing, long, back and forth game of resource trading and relevant game decisions. If only there were more of that, and less of the trash (or at least better, more reasonable means to deal with the trash. Force isn't enough). I guess that's what I get for changing stores to a place that actually represents the garbage fire of the actual Modern meta, instead of a bunch of stubborn people like me jamming BGx and bad blue decks all day.
See this is what I'm talking about.
It's not that you have issue or that Modern has issue, it's that you simply don't like what Modern is. That's it.
I get it too. Seeing E Tron across the table draws out a physical disgust from me.
In the end though we are not going back. They won't ban 75% of the format. 2016 is a long time ago.

That said, I enjoyed Modern in 2014, I enjoy it today.

I guess you didn’t play much that time.

Field of Ruin hasn’t really impressed me, as we want to operate on blue sources all the time. Force of Negation has been a great addiction, that in Mono Blue you’ll never have trouble casting, and it permits you to cast Djinn with active protection for the opponent’s bomb.
I considered a split of Archmage’s Charm and Cryptic Command, but the latter is truly too versatile for a decklist which doesn’t pack many removals.

Dread Return is another story, cause it was simply too broken alongside Bridge from Below. I don’t know about now. The format is overpowered compared to those days.

Same conclusion I came to. Instead of running lots of utilities in the board, we could just make the space for threats, while running more permission and removals in the main. Which would mean:
Mindslaver
Wurmcoil Engine
Mycosynth Lattice
Crucible of Worlds (which is sort of a finisher against many decks)
Without any Bridge, Chalice, O-Stone, Trini and such. It wouldn’t be that much of a Wishboard, this way.
1x Wurmcoil Engine
1x Mycosynth Lattice
1x Crucible of Worlds
1x Tormod’s Crypt
4x Relic of Progenitus
3x Spatial Contortion
2x Dismember
1x Ghost Quarter
Where Relic of Progenitus also act as a cantrip fetchable by Karn when you”re short on targets. I would definitely run a sixth piece of Grave hate while Hogaak is still legal, probably instead of the Ghost Quarter.
This would be the list with Karn, for reference.
4 Urza's Mine
4 Urza's Power Plant
4 Urza's Tower
