If I have Iname, life's aspect as my commander and his ability triggers and I choose to put him in the command zone, does that count as exiling him as far as that ability is concerned? will I get to return spirits?

First, thanks for the suggestions! I now have a list to try out/find as needed.

GhoooSTS, it's one on one tournament style. The store plays commander/EDH on Fridays instead of standard because no one wanted to have to deal with standard's costs, short time frame and all that crap. They were having trouble bringing in players and sometimes there was just one or two people (or just myself and the BF or no one).. now we always have a tourney. And, we always have people for casual later on too... so it works. And in free for all I get pretty much left alone.

I have it, I run it for the 'cool' factor (I mean scream counters??? AWESOME!).. but it really is not that great.

I should have been more clear. I'm already running wraths, BSZ and that ilk. I also have cards like innocent blood (mostly for anti-general use). I think I even have No Mercy in the mono black deck. It's just not enough, fast enough.

I do like crawlspace and Aurification. That's fun and different.

    What are the Vow cards?

I'm hoping I'm asking in the right place.

My usual store plays edh on Fridays. It's a heck of a lot more fun then standard and generally brings in plenty of people. However... most of them play combo-ish or at least slower decks.

And today I ran into two fast aggro decks from new players. I was going to build a sideboard (we are allowed but most don't right now) or just mod mine a bit to better handle Kalia the Vast on speed type decks .

I'm drawing a blank here though. There is Ghostly prison and other moats... but what can black do? I don't want too much targeted removal since most of the combo type players use fewer critters in general.

If it helps, I play mono black Seizan, Perverter of Truth (focus on draw/discard lifeloss) and white/black Ghost Council of Orzhova focused on graveyard comes into play/leaves play effects.

This one has been rooted too. It doesn't make as awesome of a tablet as the color (what I have now) but rooting lets you use other ereaders, simple games, a loader and is supposed to make web better.

Not for me it hasn't. I have been the irked partner however, when my other half forgets that there are indeed hobbies and things we can do that do not involve cardboard or a gaming store. Because, while I enjoy MTG, I also enjoy other things. Sometimes he forgets this as MTG is his favorite hobby...

Wrath/Damnation are just good all around cards. they however are colored and only hit critters. The Disk hits everything but land and planeswalkers (I think??) but does not protect against regeneration. Day is a subpar wrath; it allows regeneration too.

No, my friend is making Dragonstorm, I want to make another deck from way back when.

Build Pox. A mono-black version isn't too pricey, it's fun to play..and very few will see it coming. If you have the dough, black/white (for Vindicate) is prolly the strongest non-mono color version you can build.

I'm honestly debating on whether i should build a I control you black vampire EDH deck that uses mind control and creather theft type spells with the whole shebang. But at the moment, i dont even have the ability, let alone the budget to finish up my other two EDH decks which are nowhere near built. and are missing a few cards.

also, what off color cards would fit in mono black edh, but are actually black, but their effects (other then planar Chaos) that shows black and is as black as monoblack. I want it to be Anowon as the general, since he's control and works well with the vampire tribe.

    Disk of Doom
    Megrim, Lily's Caress (cheaper megrim)

The madness cards. My mono-black edh uses a lot of card draw and pain from it (font of mythos+Siezan (the general)+underworld dreams effects=dead soon). It's fun.

    Got ya!

I am also stoked about Smallpox being back in. And.. O RING!!!!! (You will have to excuse me, I haven't been keeping up with the spoiler as I haven't been playing due to lack of fun and it being summer and things like 'hiking' being available again.

Wait, we still have the same thread? :p

I just thought I'd drop by to mention that today I played some magic that made me remember why this game was so much fun. One of the two stores we go to changed to EDH for FNM because people there are sick to death of standard and standard prices and facing the same three decks.

I had a standard deck.. but I also had my EDH deck. And, much fun was had. I lost most of my games, but enjoyed doing so. And afterward, there was a giant multi-player game we didn't get to finish (it was on hour 2+ when the store booted us out.) that was very enjoyable.

I really don't remember actually enjoying a good game in the last few months. I may just start building something new for next week. Smile

Sweet. Magic might actually be playable again outside the kitchen table.

...and this is coming from someone with a set of SFMs in the house. I'm just glad to see Jace gone. I'd basically stopped playing because I was so sick of playing against it.

And it is about GD time we got him.

I have already been schooled enough for today. Took Meow Go to FNM, and first hand I mulled to 5 before I saw a land, and that hand was all land. Second game I drew nothing but land it seemed.
And, stupid massacre worm. Man, did that suck.

I seem to have this knack of whipping up decks that draw well in playtesting and goldfishing...but as soon as it counts all the cards conspire to make me lose.

That, and I lack this cockatrice.

And thanks for the BDay wish. Smile It better be good! 70F, Angry Birds, lunch/booze and maybe cake.

    I must now play this.

i agree on the nerf war. however i want comment on my deck. so someone comment. tell me what it needs/feels ect...

If you are gonna one of a deck... you need to be able to consistently get your tools. Tutor or scry effects might help. Unless you are going for an ever changing play? And your land base amuses me. Not in a bad way though!

Last summer, we made Breach & Clear scenarios at my then-house, jumping into windows, crawling into basements, climbing onto the roof and what not. It was a riot. Our age-average is 25. Wink

All right. That sounds FUN. Please tell me there was war paint.

It is storming like crazy here yet again. The crash boom bang woke me up.
Totally gorgeous and I'd love it if my roof still was keeping all the water out. Oh, and if we didn't have food watch/warning central all over the place.

At least the 30th is supposed to be dry. For now.
