Man in my personal opinion, disrupting sucks in modern. Ok, its a no-mana counter, buts in the most times is a 2-for-1 that you cant overcome, because of the lack of goods and cheap CMCs draw spells in modern(like brainstorm and predict in legacy). So disrupting is a little bit to risky for control shells, and to dead for other shells(its not like FoW)

Like the lists, but all of them fall in having a good 2-drop, or a more agressive 1-drop, so you call the deck "aggro" when it cannot drop a lot of creatures like affinity, either with aether vial. I suggested control because we cant aggro well, and gonna be stopped by control lists and more aggro decks(infect-burn)

here was my take on the Tallowisp/Geist style I ran for a few weeks after months of tinkering. It worked well. Beat Death and Taxes, Burn, and some other Tier 2 decks. Couldn't do much against Infect though. That said, I think if I changed the sideboard up it could take it.

Here i think is the main problem of the arquetype. You cant be fast enough like a aggro deck, you cant control good enough as a UWR, and your tokens are worse than the traditional BW tokens list. I think we need better early drops 1-2 CMC, or a spirit that makes viable the lockdown that i posted here or the enchantment version(for me i worse GW bogle)

hello everyone, I play magic about 4 yrs and since i began i tried to make that deck (UW, esper spirits) viable. I excited about SOI, but i think thats nothing good enough besides rattlechain and maybe topplegeist. I start think in a more lockdown version using eidolon of rethoric and hokori, using drogskol and rattlechain to protect the lock. What do you think about that? Maybe a splash to black for more removal and lingering is viable?

-Spell Snare isn't necessary anymore, it was very good in counterwars whcih aren't that important now

Not sure I agree with that. Burn and Affinity have a ton of 2cmc targets for it. Same with Merfolk and to some degree Infect. There are always going to be relevant 2cmc targets. I think at least 1 Spell Snare should be present in any blue deck. I run 2. Tron and Eldrazi don't have good targets, so they're easy choices for siding out in games 2 and 3.

Spell Snare is always relevant. It's not for counter wars, it's for randomly hitting 2 drops, which every deck plays.
Tilzinger has it right; you run 2 Spell Snare except in extremely inbred metas.

disagree, spell snare is good, but i dont run anyone in MB, because despite of early game its useless, and if you dont run a set, you probably dont get it the time you need, in the early. side for me, against goyfs and stuff

Hi, don't know if anyone of you have access to starcity games premium but i just wanted to give you this list by Shaun McLaren

    Creatures (4)

    4 Snapcaster Mage
    Planeswalkers (1)

    1 Ajani Vengeant
    Lands (26)

    2 Island
    1 Mountain
    1 Plains
    2 Arid Mesa
    3 Celestial Colonnade
    3 Flooded Strand
    4 Ghost Quarter
    2 Hallowed Fountain
    1 Sacred Foundry
    4 Scalding Tarn
    1 Steam Vents
    2 Wandering Fumarole
    Spells (29)

    4 Cryptic Command
    4 Electrolyze
    4 Lightning Bolt
    2 Lightning Helix
    4 Mana Leak
    4 Path to Exile
    4 Remand
    1 Spell Pierce
    1 Sphinx's Revelation
    1 Supreme Verdict
    Sideboard

    1 Crucible Of Worlds
    3 Relic of Progenitus
    2 Stony Silence
    1 Celestial Purge
    1 Lightning Helix
    1 Negate
    2 Wear
    1 Keranos, God of Storms
    1 Anger of the Gods
    1 Crumble to Dust
    1 Supreme Verdict

I've in an event in my local gameshop today (12 people) going undefeated ^ ^
It seem pretty good to me, i just dislike the spell pierce (1 think twice instead of it) and 4 criptic (another think twice). i've also won against JUND and Grtron.

Disagree with some things in this list. Runs only one global removal in the MB seens risky, 4 cryptic is too heavy and the 4th electrolyze look a waste. In a more generic vision, Shaun expects a field more agressive , reflecting in more control tools than cards that get you CA. I would run at least 2 think twice, another sphinx revelation and take out some remand and the spell pierce. trade a electrolyze for a helix too

Yesterday made 4-2 in local tournament, finishing at 13º position of 62, i won 1 flooded strand.

    1º 2-0 Vs Jund
At first game I cut all of him creatures and when game goes long, he draws useless removal, Elspeth end the game fast. Game 2 was more dificult, he starts discard, tarmo, liliana. wrath of god in T5 safe my from tarmo and ooze 4/4, after that, the game goes easy, spreding controls him ravine and when jace enter in game gg.

    2º 1-2 VS RG tron
He stars, T3 tron with karn i cut with leak, after he puts ugin and I without answer. Game 2 goes long and at end geist topdeck win the game but i safe the game from emrakul with cryptic xD. Game 3, sprading 2 tron lands, Ghost Quarter to another, i was hitting snap aggro mode, but he builds tron really fast and after he puts eye of ugin on table i can´t do nothing.

    3º 2-0 NAYA BURN
Leak, helix, snap helix do it the game so easy, my started hand was so good vs Brun (1 bolt, 1 snap, 1 helix, 1 leak, 1 collonade, 2 fethc). Game 2 not much problems.

    4º 2-1 Living End
Game 1 fast combo and I without counters in hand. Game 2-3, snap T2 and counter all the LE.

5º 2-1 Abzan aggro (anafenza the foremost, lingering, rhino, with chord)
Game 1 pure control style win me the game, he play lingering i electrolyze, he plays rhino i leak, I win the game with elspeth with only 2 lifes. Game 2, he plays birds of paradise, I collonade, he T2 fulminator, I play another collonade, he fulminator again, after that he win fast the game with lingering and rhino. Game 3 I go aggro by collonade and snapcasters, I was so lucky with elspeth at top who killing problematic rhino, he plays anafenza the foremost, i draw land and do +1, he plays pontiff and kill tokens and elspeth, after he kill my collonade, helix at top win me the game.

    6º 1-2 Scapeshift
Who win the game was who enter at top 8,T10 scapeshift, he better backup than me and he wins. Game 2 I loss the T4-5-6 landdrop and after these advantage when he uses scape i haven´t got enough mana to stop it.

Sorry for my awful english, maybe i will change some things of SB, but I´m happy wiht MB.

runs a very similar deck but you think you need all 4 electrolyze? think too you need a extra supreme verdict in your MB, but i dont know your local meta, but the question you need to run a 2 world removal in MB.
In the side a think you need some card like anger of the gods or slagstorm, to control better some syuper fast aggro decks

Keranos is amazing MB in the non-creature versions (snaps only). I would personally play 1 Keranos and 2 Ajani MB now if no Kikis or Angels. In any other version I think he is tough to not have in the sideboard at least. Card advantage and inevitably in our deck, difficult to deal with too, wins us the game in most cases.

Have to disageee at some point. Keranos is wonderful, but the meta change with the ban of twin demands more faster control. i had one MB, but move it to the side, because keranos only shine against control decks

how good is keranos right now? Don't get me wrong, I love keranos, one of my favourite cards and it won me many games in the sb of twin. With twin gone, a lot of the grindy mirrors are gone I feel like, since everyone will be playing aggro and the big mana decks. all the lists I've seen for the kiki version have it in sideboard. In twin at least, it wasn't even that good vs jund, since they were often times beating you down with tarmogoyfs and it was too slow. I guess since in this deck we have path and verdicts, it's better cause we can actually stabilize first?

Also, is the burn/zoo matchup so bad that I need sb slots dedicated to them? (aka kitchen finks). I have 2 helix main, but just don't think that's enough life gain.

If you having problems it burn and Zoo try timely reinforcments. i run 3 helix main too

why you dont like think twice in thus deck? i run a couple of them and dont regret it. 2 CMC for a card in instant speed and flashback at instant speed its good. i make a list where the instant speed is a crucial factor so i run a couple of think twice and it hepls me to get the CA

very sweet list man, keeps it focused on control, instead of some midrange and combo lists that appearing in this thread lately. I dont think a 3rd copy of restoration angel is necessary, but i understand that board presence its very important. Geist is a sweet option to accelerate the game against some decks like tron or living end. Like the choice of him. My list is very alike that but i dont run any restoration angels mainboard and run more mana leaks.

I'm feeling the meta is moving to aggro decks who can ramp unavoidavles threats, like tron, eldrazi processor and grishoalbrand. I'm running three paths but considering a 4th. Anyway that meta is horrible for the classic UWR control, because its not fast enough, making understandable the kikki combo lists. Can someone who is rumning the kikki deck please create a own thread about it. The question is in pro level the UWR control is dead, not fast enough neither stopping fast decks as affinity

yep, not saying the deck is weak, but is far from meta. I think that win % more by skill than the strongness of the deck. The question is that lists are been posted here are far from UWR cobtrol lists, there all midrange and combos lists with the three colors. The deck was potential to be tier 1, but wizards dont like control. I expect in april they unban the ancestral vision to give the controls deck a chance to shine again

hi everyone. I'm new replying to this thread but i follow it for a time. Just want to say that variation using the kikki its not the deck UWR control, its just some combo control and i think the deck deserves a own thread. Think its like some pro player sayed in scg, now twin is gone the modern is just dominated by linear decks like tron, affinity and jund. But i think this deck has potential to be interactive and control the board. i understand that all of you are trying to make this competitive, but control is not competitive anymore, sadly.
