I got to test out the kithkin deck I posted last page against a Faerie Deck today. I gotta say, those oversoul of dusk mainboard help so much first game. There is always a chance they will counter it obviously, but if they start holding back counters for it, you will overrun them with small threats that arnt as worth countering.
AND if you happen to heights one, it is extremely devastating. It only happened twice in about 12 games, but when it did happen, it was a no brainer victory.
After sideboard its still the same old, same old. It happens to really help first game though.
I havnt even tested Pride yet. It was a toss-up between surge of thoughtweft and Militia's pride. So far the Surges are working alright, the cantrip on it is always a bonus. But I think I may try Pride in their place to see how it runs.
Most of it is pretty straight forward. Very similar to other kithkin decklists with some minor changes. With the appearance of so much Faeries and as a bonus happens to do great against both merfolk and any red is oversoul of dusk. Just two, but if it manages to hit is a guaranteed 5 damage every turn. What do you guys think?
Apparently a guy at the PTQ in Hollywood did this and had good results. Also, what do you think of the SB? Should I remove something to add something I'm missing? If so, any ideas what? lol. Also, Thoughts of Brigid and Thoughtweft Trio?
A couple buddies and I have decided to finally go to GENCON for the first time. I decided to go on the website, found the event calendar and was overwhelmed right away.
Is there a better layed out calendar of events or ANYTHING to help out? I wanna get the most out of the trip and don't want to miss anything. We are going to be there Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Theres a few things that are already on my list. The auction is one of my stops as well as Hickman's breakfast seems pretty cool. I've always wanted to meet Tracy Hickman.
Also, does anyone know any other MUST SEE's at Gencon? A little more light on all the MTG events would be great as well.
Sorry if this has been answered. A buddy of mine was thinking of adding Magus of the Scroll because a 1 drop recurring damage body sounds like a perfect fit to RDW for damage to the head AND killing off pesky creatures in a weenie creature heavy field. Obviously the negative is that he's a 1/1 body, which makes him burnable and obviously Terrorable, but most creatures are anyway.
Merfolk +2 Merfolk Assassin -1 Stonybrook Banneret -1 Lord of Atlantis
Your sideboarding choices are exactly what I had in mind. Your maindeck on the otherhand is good....but missing something.....2 cards actually. I only count 58 cards.
2 Sowers if you're expacting alot of G/B is my recommendation. But then again, you most likely already know that, lol.
Im not sure if this has been touched on or not but I feel like there are tonnes of possible sideboard options for this deck. Tell me what you guys think about the choice and if you feel something is better.
Teferi's Moat Would destroy Goblins and quite a few other decks.
Merfolk Assassin against the mirror. We all know now that it top 8'd a couple tourneys alot of people will be playing it. Would this be something worth investing some SB slots into?
I love this deck. The build is great. I obviously changed some things around for my meta. The one thing I've noticed is has trouble with is RDW/gobbos with so many damage to all creature cards, etc.
Any ideas on some good sideboard choices with a red heavy meta?
Id say any website that shows the winning decks of past tournaments like tcgplayer.com. Also each tournament organizer website usually lists the top 10 decklists of each event they hosted.
Is there such thing? I just got a new HTC Touch phone, which has the Pocket Windows OS on it and wanted to get an MTG ruling program on it. About 2 years ago I saw a judge at a PTQ had one to scan through when a problem came up.
I must have went to a pretty good highschool, because about 8 of us would play in the caf every lunch and never catch any flack about it. Nobody ever bullied us or intimidated us. Then again, we did have 2 football players and a few of us did have good standings with the "popular" kids in school.
Easiest way to go about it if you know there will be trouble is to just not do it I'd say. It may seem like a cop out or being cowardly, but its not worth stressing about someone coming up and bothering you every lunch/spare.
This is some amazing stuff PBG. The ebay auction u refered to earlier in the thread is something you should REALLY think about. If it's something you like doing AND you can make some money you should give it a shot, even if you just do one or two to see how it goes.
I do something similar but instead of drawing I take the card images and edit them in photoshop to blend together as well as give it a personal touch. I guess its not really that similar....except that I put it on playmats as well. I've only done one so far, but it turned out pretty nice, I'll try to get some scans up.
I don't have the artists touch like you do when it comes to drawing and sketching so I have to stick to the less artistic way, but it works.
Thanks for sharing this with us, it's a brilliant idea.
If you're looking to buy boxes, the best bang for the buck right now in terms of card value overall is Planar Chaos. There are some amazing cards that come out of that set and a good amount too. The crazy thing is that some of the packs are double rared. The last box I cracked yielded a Damnation AND Extirpate in the same pack, giving me a total of two Damnations and two Extirpates as well as some nice staple type 2 cards.
I've also heard nothing but good things from Lorwyn in terms of quality of cards and the quantity of good cards in it.
Xth edition is also a good place to start with a box or two. The reason I say this is because even though its a really large set, and the chance of getting the good rares is smaller than other sets, core sets tend to offer the most staple commons and uncommons to start you off deckbuilding.
This is just my opinion obviously, but I'm sure its sound.

What are your ideas? He seems like a top choice.

Thanks in advance.
