Since no one is answering in the casual part of this forum, I'm trying my luck here. I hope I don't break any rules by doing so.
I want to remodel/redesign some of my decks and one of them is going to be Green Devotion. I know my deck is not modern legal, but this forum seems to be the best starting point, apart from the casual section.
What do you guys think? Anything you'd change, add or remove? Most of our decks are like $100-200, so I'm not sure about Craterhoof Behemoth and some other powerful cards.
I will post a few suggestions when I get a chance; but please do feel free to post here. We have a great community of Green Mages that would not only be happy to help; but would be happy to hear your thoughts and experiences with your deck.
It works surprisingly well, however it's a mess. It was build from what I had lying around and could get cheap. I wouldn't change much, since me and my friends play casual magic, but my buddies are stepping up now. Not in terms of deck building, I guess, but they're spending more money on cards. I need to follow, but I don't want to push it too far. I don't want to add 3x Tooth and Nail and slam Emrakul, the Aeons Torn on the table every game. I'm not a Spike, I'm a Timmy and a little bit of a Johnny.
I wanted to build an aggro, a control and a combo deck. For the combo deck I have choosen green devotion. It may not be a classic combo deck, but ramping into something is combo enough for me That being said, a combo deck seems to be pretty boring. Playing the same thing over and over again is not what I want to do. I like to have options and I like to do surprising stuff. This is why I came here. To ask for some ideas from people who actually played a deck like this and know some interactions that I could "steal".
I'm about to rebuild some of my decks and I'd love to have some input from you guys
I'd like to add, that none of my decks are modern legal. My playgroup is casual (but I don't get any replies in the casual subforum) and we don't use format restrictions, but since most of the cards I'd like to use are available in modern and the powerlevel seems to fit a modern budget deck, I thought I could post here.
Anyway, I'm looking for modern suggestions. I don't mind other suggestions, but modern seems to be the best place for improvements.
Each deck is about $150-200. A playset of Liliana of the Veil or Scalding Tarn would be pretty awesome, but those cards are just too expensive and their powerlevel is probably too high. Maybe I get a Craterhoof Behemoth some day
I'm in the wrong subforum, I know. I haven't seen the budget section.
That being said, our playgroup is casual. We don't use any format, but most of our decks have a "budget modern powerlevel" while almost every deck uses single cards from older formats. It's weird.
The problem with fetchlands is that they are very strong. If you get them out of a booster, it's fine, but if you spend money on them, it's not "fair", since no one spends that much money on a playset of cards. It feels like "pay to win".
Anyway, I'll head over to the budget subforum Wish you all the best, guys. Thanks for the replies!
@pzbw7z
Yes, I got a message from a moderator regarding the wrong subforum. To be honest, I haven't even seen the budget section, but I'll try it there next
My group is pretty casual. We're a bunch of Timmys and Johnnys. Thoughtseize is an allowed card, but you have to get it from a booster. Buying it and spending $ 100 on a playset, while every other deck costs $ 100-200 overall, is kind of a dick move.
Anyway, I'm wrong here :3 Have fun and good draws, guys!
I tried to recreate Frank Lepore's BW Smallpox deck and I'm only running 5 cards, that are not legal in Modern, so I thought I could ask here. I know that this deck is not optimal and won't stand a chance in any competitive environment. That's ok, since I'm only playing with friends.
I'm sorry for posting in the wrong thread. I'll stay in the casual section, I guess^^
Yes, as I said, my deck is not modern legal, but since I get no replies in the casual section of this forum, I'm trying my luck here.
My deck is way too weak for Legacy or Vintage, but Modern seems to be fine, I guess.

As you can see, my playgroup doesn't really care about a format. We just want to keep it fair and don't play broken stuff.

The real question was if the ETB effect goes on top of the creature spell or on a new stack after the creature spell resolved, and now I know for sure.
That being said, I watched the video in bed and was very sleepy, so I may saw it wrong.
I cast a Flametongue Kavu. It deals 4 damage to target creature when it enters the battlefield. If there are no creatures on the battlefield, it deals the 4 damage to itself.
This is what I was sure about so far, but yesterday I watched a video about MTGO and when a player casted a creature with an ETB effect, the ETB effect went on stack on top of that creature. It resolved before the creature entered the battlefield.
How can a Flametongue Kavu deal 4 damage to itself when it is still on the stack?
Hey CurdBros Thanks!

Me and my friends play kitchentable magic, so the decks don't need to be perfect. We'll see.
