Merfolk is 9-0 and 8-1 at Scg Syracuse: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/164626950
Starts at 1:20:24 and 8:40:50. In second, he did several huge mistakes and lost that one, but at least we are trucking with fish.
In both we had a "pleasure" listening Cedric make uninformed statements regarding our deck and matchups.

Doozy posted a message on Sultai DeliriumHere's my current list:Posted in: Deck Creation (Modern)
So far the only matchups I've had trouble with are spell based combo, and Tron of course. This deck feels like it has game against everything, and it's so much fun. A bonus is that most people have no idea what I'm doing in paper!

Meyou posted a message on GWx Vizier CompanyPersonally, I think everyone is trying to get too cute with Walking Balista. I'm not totally against the idea, but I feel most people are overthinking it.Posted in: Combo
If you have access to one or two black mana (One for Viscera Seer and Zulaport Cutthroat), I think Zulaport Cutthroat can be equally effective for an instant win.
If you have Duskwatch Recruiter and infinite mana, grab every single creature in your library. Play every single creature with Zulaport Cutthroat being the last creature to come into play. Sacrifice everything. Your opponent is dead.
Zulaport Cutthroat can still kill your opponent even through most graveyard hate (exceptions being Rest in Peace and Leyline of the Void). It still works with Collected Company and Chord of Calling.
A person doesn't actually need black mana if a Chord of Calling is in the graveyard if running Eternal Witness. Play Eternal Witness. Grab Chord of Calling. Grab Zulaport Cutthroat. If you need Viscera Seer, just play the other Eternal Witness and grab the Chord again.
If Chord of Calling isn't available for some reason, but you have a Collected Company there is an alternative. First, grab every creature except Viscera Seer and Zulaport Cutthroat with the infinite mana and Duskwatch Recruiter. With the deck sufficiently thinned (and after casting all your other green creatures minus the Eternal Witnesses), cast Collected Company. A player should be able to find the combo pieces needed to kill you opponent on the spot.
Just saying. -

This deck has been popping up enough online to barely make tier 2. As such we should have a thread for it. -

VampireChild85 posted a message on [Primer] RG Ponza / Modern Land DestructionPosted in: MidrangeQuote from D90Dennis14 »Molten Rain in addition to Stone Rain can be pretty good in a build with Goblin Dark-Dwellers as the 5-drop to reuse them (and Beast Within).
Would be an interesting idea, one worth testing. But, in addition to the {R}{R} problem limiting a turn two Molten Rain, what can be dropped to add them? Personally, I'd run only 2, max 3, Molten Rain, with 4 Stone Rain, 3-4 goblins, and 2-3 Beast Within.
Thinking about it now, something like Voyager Staff or Flamerush Rider could make for some interesting abuse of Goblin Dark-Dwellers etb effect. Not the best choices, but they're the first ones that came to mind. -

This style of Green Devotion, I agree, seems to be about near perfect. But I'd like to talk about any potential minor adjustments, so here's the decklist one more time.

Basically the deck I'm running is the same as his but I removed the Tireless Tracker completely. I moved one Kitchen Finks to the mainboard. I put Terastodon, Polukranos, World Eater, Chameleon Colossus, and Obstinate Baloth in the sideboard in place of 3 Sudden Shock a Thragtusk and one of the Blood Moons, since Terastodon can serve a similar purpose and also deals with other random problem noncreature cards including Planeswalkers.
After testing with Nissa, I've realized it's insane, and definitely better than all the other options. I mean how can one play Wistful Selkie over a 3 drop Planeswalker xD. Now really... This should have been obvious to us all before.
Now my question is, can anything else be changed? I have some questions that I'm having trouble answering myself with 100% conviction. Anyone feel free to weigh in.
@CurdBros what changes were you thinking?
My Questions
I'm not quite positive that Thrun should be removed from the mainboard, but it just doesn't seem necessary.
Can we afford to cut 1 or 2 Birds for other creatures? In this list I don't mind having the extra birds because of the Garruk and Nissa gameplan.
Is 4 Oath of Nissa better than 3?
Is Thrun, the Last Troll necessary in the mainboard?
Is Thragtusk better than Obstinate Baloth?
Is Sudden Shock a necessary sideboard card? Most notably, to deal with infect?
Is Chameleon Colossus necessary?
Is Blood Moon necessary and for what matchups? Since it slows us down and ruins the Kessig plan, we have to be very thoughtful about which matchus this is worth it.
And why Tireless Tracker in the first place?
Also, after some testing with Nissa, I found it's really good. Doesn't die to removal, infimite chump blockers, control has trouble winning if she ultis, creates dudes for Craterhoof, and pumps the team. It also turns Hornet Queen into a more offensive card, making it great in the main deck.
Also, can you link the article you mentioned by Ari Lax and Sam Stoddard? -

thnkr posted a message on [Primer] Lantern ControlWelp, just got back from States. Got 1st I'll try to do a full tournament report tomorrow, but quick rundown:Posted in: Control
Round 1: Affinity (1-1-1)
Easy game 1. Game two I miss a single Inventors' Fair trigger and it cost me the game. Game three I got the easy lock but my opponent was playing slow and we went to turns. Drew
Round 2: Free Win Boros (2-1)
Chalices, Blood Moon, Nahiri, etc. Easy game one, lost game two to Chalice. Game three was able to double discard to cripple his hand, assemble the lock, easy win.
Round 3: Death's Shadow (2-0)
Relatively easy matchup. Landed Bridge, kept him off of anything relevant. He got a bit hasty with his Street Wraith and tried to draw without letting me interact. I stopped him and it saved me the game, shuffling away his Kolaghan's Command. Game two Leyline and Padeem cemented the lock.
Round 4: Jeskai Nahiri (2-0)
Easy games really. Game two I had to mill through his library twice because I couldn't stop him from drawing and discarding Emrakul due to hand size. He was really trying to go to time, but I had 6 mill rocks, and easily milled his entire deck in 10 minutes, even with his slower play.
Round 5: Living End (2-0)
Close game one, went down to 7, but got the lock and Bridge and shut off his Fulminators with Needles. Game two I use Surgical on his Living Ends and I see three Krosan Grip, three Beast Within, three Ingot Chewer, two Slaughter Games. I have to let a Games slip through, but there's nothing that he can name that breaks the lock.
Round 6: Madcap Experiment/Nahiri (1-x)
We intentional draw into top 8, but play anyways for fun. Stupid easy game one, all of his creature removal is dead. Game two I get down to three life. He ult's Chandra (new Chandra), plays Experiment with Pact, hits me for 10 damage and gets an Obelisk of Alara, putting me to five. Fair puts me back up to four and I make sure to keep him off of spells while digging for an answer quick. I end up digging into a Seal of Primordium with plenty of rocks in play. I feel like that game was in the bag, but he disagreed. Very cool person, though, very good sport
EDIT: Realized I made a mistake on the life total recollection here, just looked back at my notes. My opp hit me for ten, putting me to five. I use Brutality to put me to seven, get hit to three from his Obelisk. Back up to four thanks to Fair, and that's when I dig into Seal of Primordium and take care of Obelisk. We didn't finish it because we were being called to go get deckchecks for top 8.
Top 8:
Round 7: Affinity (2-0)
Plays out like it normally does, as a bye pretty much.
Round 8: Eldrazi Tron (2-0)
Used Infernal Tutor to grab Bridge. Cast Shredder before he got Chalice out on one. Used Shredder to get back Tutor, used Tutor to grab Abrupt Decay. Ended up getting the lock online before he can find anything for Bridge. He had Ulamog in hand, but I kept him one mana short of casting it. Game two I overextend and cast two Lanterns along with my one Ghoulcaller's Bell. I lose them all to Ratchet Bomb, couldn't find a Needle with my Stirrings. Played Bridge anyways, ended up drawing into lock before he could find an answer to Bridge. Kept him on lands and dead creatures for the rest of the game.
Round 9: Affinity (2-0)
Same opponent from round one. Still pretty much a bye.
I'll write more later, but I really need to get ready for work tomorrow and help around the house -

If you had told me that banning Probe would reinvigorate this deck I would have laughed, but that's actually what happened. Although you also have 4 more Electromancers to thank for that. -
