I wonder if "loyality manipulation" will become a recurring part of the red color pie. Even if secondary to GW.
I really hope so. It fits Reds natural charisma and the fact that they do care very deeply for their close friends, which walkers are the best approximation in game, it's such a great flavour win and adds some more depth to there design space (as an unapologetic red mage, I'm stoked to see that)
So I don't know what everyone else is hoping for the new walker... But please don't be Gruul, we literally just got rid of domri and they still have a healthy amount, please stop making new gruul walkers.
And yes, I do realise this is a futile ask considering he's literally a tree man on fire
I think DFC are not in premade deck I think due to some issue with how they make double face cards. I remember a bunch similar things they said they couldn't do during Innistrad but as we got to Magic Origins, SoI, M19 and Ixalan we saw how the printing technology has let them do new things with DFC.
And I think its only a matter of time before they do a colorless one. They been trying to branch out what each color/color combos can do and so far for colorless its artifact and eldrazi so hopefully they can find another archetype for it to play in.
It's an interesting idea to try and give colorless a better identity outside of artifacts and drazi, I'd be all for it but what would it be ? Off the top of my head the only ideas I can come up with is punishing colours (similar to the new ugin) or giving them a higher focus on Exile and exile matters similar to Eternal Scourge, but neither sound terribly deep on the surface.
Something I still don't know: was Ral Zarek previously out as being gay or not?
Also it is implied that Kaya has had a girlfriend in the past.
I think it was hinted somewhere before, but I can't really find the quote. I mean, it shouldn't be much of an issue either way. He was definitely never stated to be straight, so it doesn't contradict anything. And I know some people don't like it, but for me as a gay man it feels good to have a bit more representation (I was really happy when we got the Kynaios and Tiro of Meletis card for example). And I also like that its Ral, a flawed individual who isn't a villain though. Color me intrigued. Same goes for Kaya, liked her very much in her original story (and her helping Teysa in overthrowing the Obzedat, even if that was ultimately orchestrated by Bolas, was also great).
I will withhold my judgement of the book until I read it myself (as well as the prequel and the sequel, which may very well fill in what seems to be left out now). My ideas of what is good and what I want to see might differ from yours after all. The broad strokes of the story for example sound much more appealing and interesting to me than you make them out to be.
Agreed, I'm also gay and the fact that not only is it one of my fave walkers but also the one that represents (and will likely still lead after Niv mizzets transformation) arguably the most popular guild is astonishing to me and it makes me oh so happy to see. I love it, but I am wondering how this was handled in the story. Do we see he has a partner ? If so is that who the white cloth Viceroy Ral is holding from ? (cause real talk that's been driving me nuts for ages, especially since it showed up again on Contingency plan).
Honestly, while a fun read no doubt, I think a lot of people will be majorly disappointed by this book's lack of depth and the way characters are handled.
One thing I don't remember: was it previously known Ral is gay or is this something Wizards decided to come up with just now?
Can I get a little more info on Ral's sexuality ? I love him so much and getting some much needed backstory on this would be nice. btw thanks for all of this news, and appropriate spoiler tags.
Gargos from killer instinct. Very fitting considering the repeatable fight
Also it looks like they're all being formed from the in set Leylines. Which is awesome if true.

So perhaps a Lorwyn old Walker ? If so perhaps Wrenn used to be a elf...if not there's even weirder implications. Love it

Sifa grent for R/B and Xenagos for G/R would be ideal, but I'm still fairly unsure if they would do another round of C walker decks so quickly.

Well worth the wait
