I called it, this set is complete trash for constructed.

I'm not spending a dime on this garbage.

Innistrad was amazing, Im pretty upset they ruined this one so hard.

The mythic card is neat. I'd prefer an interesting drawback in a set to boring goodstuff any day.

And what odds can I get on whether this angel ever sees Standard play? Not that the card looks great, but given the responses here, I have a feeling that bet's going to be worth my while.

It isnt an "Interesting drawback" though

    It's a ridiculous drawback =/

You could probably work backwards from a similar card to get the red angel.
Thundermaw Hellkite is a good example because it's the same colour, same rarity, and almost the same cmc.

    5/5 flying haste for 3RR.
Cost it 1 less and give it -1/-1.
    4/4 flying haste for 2RR.
But now you're worried about Flatten? Give it +0/+5, but make it take double damage!
4/9 flying haste and takes double damage for 2RR.

Done. I don't think there's any reason to add another drawback (such as you take double damage as well).
A fragile 4 power creature that also makes you lose the game faster isn't undercosted at 4 mana. Nor is it interesting of flavourful.

    Well said

Whoever approved this angel needs to be fired

It may still see sideboard play or play with Assalt, but it's still a terribly designed card. I think MTG players are having enough with Wizards incompetence. I really cant get past how Wizards has the patent on "The Trading Card Game", so no other American company can make their own, even if it is drastically different then MTG. Us Trading Card Game players are helpless victims to the terrible MTG design team because of a ridiculous over reaching patent that shouldn't exist =/

Blue does not warp legacy in a bad way, Blue is what makes legacy fun to 95%+ of legacy players =X

Blue actually keeps legacy together, and without it(And FoWs/counters), the format would not be functional. Please play a format before commenting on it

They need to print more cards at a lower price.

If they did MM1 but kept up the print run like a normal set, it would of been perfect.

MM2 was awful, mostly unplayable junk for 10 bucks a pack. MM2 made me loose nearly all the faith I had in Wizards. Everything sense then has just been more confirmation.

Oh please stop acting like WotC is doing their best and like they couldn't do any better regarding reprints, I can't believe that anyone is delusional enough to believe that.

They are intentionally keeping the prices high, otherwise they wouldn't do limited print runs, sell the boosters for $10 each, up the rarity of chase rares and base the sets around draft instead of actual Modern staples.

    Amen

Modern prices need to be lowered drastically.

We have to remember this is a game 1st

Banning Mox opal would be terrible.

I wonder if a lot of the people complaining about playing against non interactive decks have ever played modern.

When playing against boggles with Burn of Affinity, there are tons of decision trees. It's ton of fun. The idea of Burn being a non interactive deck is beyond miss informed. Play some modern before you complain. Ive took a break right before the eldrazi hit the scene, but modern was very healthy before that(With only white needing some serious love). The people who where plaining the format where loving it.

People like to ***** at Infect, Burn, Affinity. If Wizards ever starts listening to these people who dont even play enough modern(Or worse, suck at modern and complain about the decks they dont understand well enough to beat or understand variance in their own games. Ive seen a few people like this), they will end up destroying modern. If they ban one more deck because it is too popular, like twin(Twin was fine, it was strong, but by no means had to good win percentages), they will destroy modern. I played in hundreds of Modern tournies. Ive played against the pros and won. I have more tournaments won without a single loss then most pros. I really understand the game and the community.

If they Keep up banning the good(non oppressive) decks, or listening to people who cry "Non interactive" on decks that still have a ton of thought to play with or against, *will*((*WILL*)) kill modern. Make modern your new legacy, that is what everyone wants. Most people dont give 2 *****s about diverse pro tour coverage, as long as no deck is oppressive(Pod with Rhino was, Twin was not).

    TLDR: Put counterspell in modern

Sword of the meak plus thopter foundry would be to good for modern IMO, Sword should stay banned for now.

I think a Blood Braid unban would be fine now, and ancestral visions would be interesting. A t1 ancestral visions/t4 ancestral recall is really good. But too good? I really cant say, and that's rare, hahah. Stoneforge isnt the nuts now like it once was, modern decks have gotten a lot better and faster.

I dont think there is a good reason anyone can articulate about counter spell not being in modern though. It's a less castable mana leak that also has late game value. It wont change the meta at all. Save me from this mana leak hell XD

Twin was consistently around 8-12% of the overall top 8 meta for the 2 years before it was banned. I check these things daily. I think them using only the numbers from the largest tournaments was wrong.

I think we can agree on a lot though:

    1) Counterspell should be in Modern
    2) The Twin ban was a mistake(It was not an oppressive deck by any means), and the move was concerning. I own a pod deck, I understand the pod ban, but Twin was wrong. Modern is not a format that should be spiced up by bans.
    3) Eye and Temple need to be banned.

According to the wording, wouldn't it work with Banisher Priest as well?

Baniser Priest enters and ETB goes ont he stack
Then in response to the trigger, Banisher is cloud shifted.
The Trigger goes off, and the trageted creature is "Exiled until Banisher priest leaves the battlefield"
Since it is no longer on the battlefeild, that will never happen, and it's perma gone?

    It's not terrible.

Yeah, at WW it would of been better and still acceptable. But 3 mana for a non token anthem plus vigelence is still okay. I can definitely see this card seeing play. Dont under estimate vigilance

Manaleak is almost as good, and much more easy to splash

I think Counterspell will be what control/midrange needs, and by no means change the meta at all.

I just want my Blue White Midrange deck to be Modern playable again, and SFM will do that :*(

Until then, it's me and Affinity <3

I think you will have to be happy with Affinity then. I don't see SFM ever being Modern legal or at very lest in the near future.

You are probably right, but a boy can dream(And ive done a ton of competitive modern, I think SFM is more then fine as long as Jitte stays banned)
