The End of an Era

I have thought about that actually.

Young wolf could be used a sac lamb and to evolve experiment ones that are played later in the game

But i dont need alot of recurrence just a way to increase board power so dryad militant for a baloth is perfectly fine. You still do want that early buff tgat militant gives to E1. This isnt a EE heavy or reliant build. EE is just a tool to help increase power not a core of the deck.

I have been tinkering around with this list.

Ill post my tapped put bc im posting from my phone and linking my deck is easier

    http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/08-06-17-jkq-mono-green-stompy/

There has been alot of talk about how collected company is just not what this deck wants or needs and that turn 4 land isnt always guaranteed.

I am here to make a case for collected company and eldritch evolution as they seem like very viable cards in a deck such as this one.

I will begin with the case against spot removal

As ceaseless hunger has stated before do we really need spot removal? Hunger as do I believe that using our creatures and pump effectively can mitigate the removaless deck. Force them to have to block with pump spells. Or use pump spells defensively which does hinder our gameplan a bit but hey the world isnt perfect.

Secondly, we all know a board wipe is disaster for us. From all is dust to ugin to sometimes pyroclasm and anger of the gods, these type of spells end our deck pretty badly as we have nothing to do other than hope we have a geist out.

Thirdly, as I mentioned above many in tgis forum believe that turn 4 land drop isnt guaranteed and a 4 mana spell is too intensive or theres not enough creatures etc. though if we look at gameplay of this deck we see it can be resiliant as it can and often does last to turn 6 and 7 when at times this deck is just out of gas.

With a deck so clearly dependent on creatures why are so many ready to discredit a spell that will cast 80% of them for four and potentially keep us in the game if not win.

My decklist runs a single copy as you do indeed want to keep the mana curve lighter. You will see alot of 2 ofs in my deck which is why I run eldritch evolution.

Eldritch evolution is a baby birthing pod as it does have a very similar effect (though yes not as powerful which is why i say a baby...or perhaps lets say fetus.. fetus is more appropriate :D)

I believe that dryad militant is the weakest card in the deck, she does indeed have a nice ability but thats nothing our scooze cant handle as he has been doing so since he was made.

Dryad militant serves now even more function as she is our sacrificial lamb to eldritch evolution. Now this isnt always so obvuously but she is the one I am likely to sacrifice to put more power out.

The second choice is the strangleroot geist. Undying IS NOT only for relsiliance. Undying is a very very good tool that we should also use to our advantage instead of waiting for our opponent to do so. A simple common play would be

    T1 - experiment one
    T2 - strangleroot geist
T3 - Eldritch evolution sac geist, tutor for baloth or whatever you see fit. If you have an avatar in hand then get another avatar and play your next one on T4

Eldritch evolution allows us to adapt and to be more of a threat.

My decklist is not the best and I am not claiming it to be. However I do see so many simply dont give tgese cards a try in the deck and jump to many conclusions on why they DONT work instead of attempt to see how they can work.

In a deck that runs 24+ creatures of which 80-100% of them are 3 mana or less I do not see why at least a 1 of collected company is not more common.

I can see why some dont like eldritch evolution however it is a strong tool and allows us to tutor for other tools (scooze) or a threat (thrun, baloth, dungrove, rhonas, etc etc.)

Magic is a game where like it or not you have to think about the next turn. Even burn aggro thinks about future turns with cards like eidolon (which is mainboarded often), Mono green stompy in my opinion doesnt allow for much of that and these two cards help us set up future turns and future wins with options and at times a bit more resiliency.

Let me know what you guys think

I have been running two eldritch evolution and one collected company main board. They are very very good and in my opinion underestimated in this deck.

A pretty sweet combo is eldritch evolution sacing a geist and grabbing a baloth/avatar(if you had experiment one come out)/thrun

I really find eldritch evolution is extremely extremely good.

Collected company has gotten be double baloth a few times on turn 4. It should be highly considered as a main board staple in this deck tbh

That sideboard card looks like a seriously powerful card.. you can cast it for UU to grab enemy ballistas and hangarbacks

Deff a sideboard card for sure maybe even a mainboard

I couldnt agree more with the sideboard. I am a more unconventional side boarder i guess i would say but im also a noob so theres that. Grin

And yes i realized 4 delver and 4 bolts are just essential in my opinion.

And my reasoning behind azorius charm is bc more than a few games ive had about 8-9 tokens out all with a counter on them and life link on all of them would have been seriously great but i was facing down a few flyers and i lost. And this type of scenerio has happened to me and it just so happened that i had a boros charm in my hand. Which made me think if i had azorius this would all be different. I think a one of of each charm could be worth testing but wel see.

Thank you guys for all the welcomes and for all the advice and critic i am very happy to be a part of this thread now

I was thinking about growth as well but strength has scry which is just awesome for a pump spell used turn 2 on swiftspear

The solemnity i threw in there to play against infect. I seriously hate the deck and always have and id rather just play a game out very slowly and a more control route against infect than to try and race

Deflecting palm is good for sure and i used to run it as well but i find its best to not run extra multi colored spells

And im sorry vizier isnt supposed to be there im not sure why i included that card i guess i had the combo on my mind its supposed to be
2x fiendslayer paladin against burn and jund sorry about that

Yes after what curdbros said i could see why pyro isnt the best option but i needed another human with a good amount of power and synergy(key point).

Shu could be dropped as he isnt necessary. I didnt like running only 3 delver but i didnt know what to cut out for the snapcaster because i added them last.

So i think i will drop shu add in a delver, drop young pyro and add in 1 more serum visions and 1 more titans strength.

As for the bolts you are right, ill drop a helix and go up with a bolt.

And i have one question for you guys concerning my list.. what do you guys think about azorius charm ? I really feel a one of would and could be really really good but im not sure. Thoughts?

And as for the sideboard I run the following

    2x relic of progenitus
    2x retract
    3x silence
    2x blood moon
    2x vizier of remedies
    2x solemnity
    1x rest in peace
    2x essence scatter

This side board answers almost every single deck in modern and has done me really well. Silence is extremely underated honestly as it really slows down a great deal of faster decks like affinity and especially infect. I highly recomend it.

    Thank you!

Delver of secrets is one of my favorite creatures and i had alot of humans from a human deck i built when i first started playing. And what better color combo than jeskai.. so here i am.

I also had my eye on mentor though i wanted shu in there because i had a token generator like young puro mancer. And him being a 2 drop it helps alot to get the tokens going.

But i may cut him out entirely to put in more spells i had my eye on azorius charm because it adds alot of resiliance with the lifelink but i dont know im still tweaking it.

Hey guys im new to this primer but im glad i found it because ive been working on a jeskai build myself. Though this one is fully synergy. Let me know what you guys think. i want to build it in paper but i dont want to spend the money before i know its good. I have play tested it online and stuff and it does pretty well. I actually dont have any trouble versus any particular deck which I like quite a bit. Please give me any suggestions or advice. The card that I am most unsure about is shu yun when he performs he does very very well but its not as consistent as id like.

Ive won games bc of torpot orbs so I would disagree

Does anyone else find that side boarding significantly reduces this decks consistency?

I have found that to be the case for me

Torpor orb is actually extremely good it stops

    snapcaster mage
    thought knot seer
    eldrazi mimic
soul sisters get completely shut off
    tidehollow sculler
    all flicker and bounce effects

it is a great card to have in SB i also run 2
