What hobbies are not as expensive?

And you cant look at pauper, and cube and such you cant nit pick you have to look at the hobby as a whole. You can nit pick all hobbies and find cheap parts of it but the whole is what matters. Mtg as a whole is indeed expensive and is for sure as if not more expensive than other hobbies.

What hobbies are you comparing it too?

I agree with varyag. I can build and actually did build i very very good pc with liquid cooling and top grade GPU for around 750$..

So yea mtg is not at all priced lower than other hobbies. Idk where mtg lion got than notion.

I appreciate all the advice especially those of you recognizing that im not complaining im just trying to be smart about how to spend money.

I would like to add that mtg is not cheaper compared to other hobbies.

I will compare it to guns and target shooting.

One of my favorite guns is a walther P99 which costs around 600$ which is what affinity costs. Ammo box of 50 for the range costs 20$ which is roughly the same to participate in a modern event in mtg.

I think this is the best comparison as both hobbies are essentially an investment as both my gun and modern decks can be sold for the same or close to the same price i bought them at. And i can say they both cost essentially the same.

I also would like to say that for the most part no one really sells their things unless circumstances force them to. So when you pay for your hobby or for rent that money is gone unless of course you absolutely must sell. However you could sell your home as well and in this case the home is a far larger and necessary investment. Which is my initial argument in saying rent is 600$

But as for my initial question I decided to buy into the ravagers and mox opals. I personally believe that mox opal will be reprinted in iconic masters because 1. Is it very expensive and 2. Is is an iconic card for arguably one of the most played and consistent deck in modern, affinity.

Thank you guys for the responses

Your logic has deep and large holes in it. By asking on whether I should wait or not is complaining to you than I am anxious to see what kind of advice you ask to people.

$600 pays rent for an apartment where i live, it pays for 2 car payments. You have issues if you believe that people like spending that much on mtg. New flash buddy no one does at all. Wether it be 300$ or 1000$

If its so cheap than throw me the mox opals. Thats 6% of the deck and if the deck is so cheap than 6% shouldnt be any trouble.

By asking about iconic masters i am asking about speculations. i am asking because there are ppl who actually study trends, study mtg finances, reprint rates etc etc That could give me a well educated speculation as to wether or not to wait until november for half off mox opals than that would.

You should refrain from posting your useless criticisms and to be honest should actually try to give advice or at least answer the question.

Im not complaining im trying to save money or is that unheard of to you?

Dont bother replying if youre going to rude and unhelpful. Secondly it wasnt a complaint at all I have the money but you really think 120$ on 4 cards is something anyone wants to spend?

On a similar note what is the likelihood that arcbound and mox opal are printed in iconic masters? And if they are would there be a price decrease?

Hey guys im building affinity and all i have left to purchase are arcbound ravagers and mox opals.

Currently arcbound ravagers sell for lightly played (which btw is usually always NM in my experience) for around 33$ give or take. On mtgstock i saw the price curve was around 18-20$ Around tarkir and spiked to 50$ at oath of the gatewatch and has now come down to low $30s. My questions is should i purchase my playset now or should I wait?

I dont want the price to raise on me again and i dont have the economic smarts nor the knowledge of the current state to predict whether or not to buy in now or wait a little longer.

    What should I do?
